The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Ivan Kurochkin and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mustafaev tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Johnson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Johnson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mustafaev.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Johnson.
Mustafaev tries to close the distance and clinch but Johnson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Mustafaev fails in his attempt to clinch.
Johnson closes the distance and pushes Mustafaev back into the cage.
Mustafaev breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Mustafaev creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Mustafaev's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Mustafaev has closed the distance and engaged Johnson in a clinch.

Johnson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Johnson drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mustafaev gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Mustafaev dips a shoulder and cracks Johnson with a mighty uppercut! Johnson falls back against the cage and Mustafaev unloads with a barrage of strikes! Johnson is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Mustafaev screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Marat Mustafaev!
