Azul throws a solid leg kick but Kururugi takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Azul.
Kururugi scores with a crisp jab that stopped Azul in his tracks.
Azul throws a low kick, looking for Kururugi's leg but Kururugi calmly moves out of range.

Kururugi is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Azul with a body shot.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Fiore Azul.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bar is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kong sees it coming and defends easily.
Bar is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bar goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Kong turns into him and now he's in Bar's guard.

Bar working for a triangle but Kong defends it easily.

Kong got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bar has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kong has managed to get both his arms back between Bar's legs - danger averted.

Kong stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bar swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kong doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kong manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bar is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Kong wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Bar, who protects the arm well.
Bar is looking to regain half guard here but Kong keeps moving and retains side control.
Bar is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Kong looks up at the clock and then as Bar takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Kong smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Bar gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Bar is looking to improve his position.
Kong passes to side control.

Bar is looking to reverse the position.
Kong creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Bar taking punishment in the form of punches.
Bar tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kong wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Kong cracks Bar with a big right hand but Bar just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Kong has hold of Bar's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Bar seems comfortable defending it but Kong has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Bar is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Bar is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Kong couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Hong Kong decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
