The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcallum doesn't manage to clinch there - Baxter circles away.
Baxter lands a jab to the nose.
Baxter lands with an uppercut that bounces Mcallum off the cage and back into range.
Good standup being displayed there by Baxter as he connects with a hook.
Baxter fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Mcallum on the side of the head.
A combination from Baxter does no damage.
Baxter tries to bum rush Mcallum with a series of wild strikes but Mcallum uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Baxter counters with a single leg into guard. Mcallum didn't expect that.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Baxter seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Baxter is pushing down on Mcallum's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mcallum is fighting to maintain full guard but Baxter has managed to sneak the leg through.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Barbosa.

and Haaparanta counters with a slapping leg kick.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Haaparanta.

Barbosa tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Haaparanta defends well and Barbosa ends up having to push Haaparanta into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

I've been told that Haaparanta has been drilling his wrestling of late, which has already helped him take this fight to the mat. Let's see how much of an impact it has on the outcome of the ground game.

Barbosa's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Haaparanta is holding on here and Barbosa must be using up a lot of energy. Haaparanta has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Barbosa gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Caio Barbosa decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zabud Zabirov (ranked 2146 p4p, 248 weight class) and Jack Blood (ranked 297 p4p, 42 weight class). Zabirov comes to the cage accompanied by Panic at the disco - High hopes. Blood is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Raining Blood - Slayer. Jack Blood told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Nice sprawl there from Zabirov as Blood shoots in.
Blood has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Blood shoots in looking for a takedown but Zabirov manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Blood's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

It looked like Zabirov was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Zabud Zabirov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Blood.
