Undercard bout

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Michael Jackson (ranked 3155 p4p, 360 weight class) and Gavin Gagnon (ranked 4376 p4p, 470 weight class). Gagnon comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Hand Clap by Fitz and the Tantrums kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Gavin Gagnon struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 186.4lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jackson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gagnon, pushing him back against the cage.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

We've been informed that Malingo has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Dood has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Malingo finds it's way round the side to connect with Dood's head.
Malingo lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

We've been told by Dood's head coaches at Death Valley Training Facility that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Malingo lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Dood has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Dood and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
