That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Destin Craven.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Graves. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bowman scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Bowman dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Gurel. That did some damage!
Bowman moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Gurel tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Bowman paws at him with a jab and circles away.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Bowman has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Gurel walks forward, straight into a front kick from Bowman.
Gurel is breathing heavily.
Gurel dives in for a single leg takedown but Bowman sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes.

Oh Gurel is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Bowman stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Gurel to get to his feet.
Bowman plants his feet and throws a 3 punch combo. Miss, miss, boom! The third punch, a big right hook, connects right on the temple and drops Gurel to the mat, unconscious! This fight is all over! Gurel just couldn't keep out of the way of the whole flurry of punches!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Casey Bowman!
Casey Bowman is the new middleweight champion!
After the fight, Casey Bowman was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
Jake Gurel spoke after the fight, saying 'You win some, you lose some. Today I lost. Tomorrow I will win. Its that simple'.
