Rock fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Gifford to the ground. Rock is now in Gifford's guard.
Gifford is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Rock controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Rock is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Rock tries to free his leg and advance position but Gifford is retaining full guard.
Rock stopping the sweep attempt from Gifford.
Rock pushes down on Gifford's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Rock in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Gifford tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Rock!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abedi slaps away a takedown attempt from Castle, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Abedi moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Castle falls off balance throwing a combination
and Abedi counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Abedi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Castle tries to score a power double leg takedown but Abedi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Castle somewhat.
Castle tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Abedi manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Castle could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Castle swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Abedi counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Sommer closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gates circles away.
Gates uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Sommer has time to react.
Zach Gates seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sommer shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Eliza Hachem and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abbott's jab looks to have found its range, popping McCoy under the eye.
Abbott clobbers McCoy with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

McCoy is rocked!
McCoy misses with a low kick.
Oh McCoy is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
McCoy avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
McCoy seems to have got his legs back now.
McCoy throws a head kick but Abbott moves out of range.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Abbott, as that shot connected.
McCoy throws a half hearted mid kick.
McCoy throws a leg kick but Abbott moved away.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Abbott lands with a good body shot.
McCoy is looking to chop away at Abbott's legs.
Abbott cracks McCoy's jaw with two stiff jabs then ducks low and throws a soul-severing right uppercut to the mouth!! McCoy slumps to the ground with blood on his lips. The referee steps in before Abbott can do further damage! This one is done, son!

Anthony Abbott decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
