Raines closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Doe is not content to let Raines control the position.

Raines is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Doe defends it well.
Raines is trying to control. Doe wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Raines slips a nice elbow through Doe's hands, connecting with Doe's forehead.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Doe throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Raines because Doe loaded up on that one.

Doe is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Raines to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Raines shrugs it off.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Raines tries to lock up and control but Doe gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Doe is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Raines is forced to tap! Great finish!

John Doe decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
