The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cote throws a right and a left that Whales avoids nicely.
Whales shoots in looking for a takedown but Cote manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Whales's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Whales throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cote sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Nice takedown defense from Cote. No joy for Whales on that attempt.
Cote fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Patrick Whales seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Whales clinches up with Cote and pushes him back against the cage.

Whales postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Cote badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Whales around the waist but Whales pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Whales is the winner by TKO! Whales jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
