The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bernstein looks to land a left hand but Jong moved out of range nicely.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Jong - that will leave a mark!
Jong swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Bernstein dives in and grabs Jong's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jong pushes down on Bernstein's head and hops out.
Jong moves out of range as Bernstein strikes.
Bernstein lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jong circles away quickly and effectively.
Jong lands a nice leg kick that just misses Bernstein's sensitive parts.
Bernstein looks gassed!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jong pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jong misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Bernstein.
Bernstein blocks a head kick by Jong.

Jong wants to get back to his feet but Bernstein is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Bernstein is looking to stand up but Jong won't let him.

Bernstein wants to stand but Jong has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Bernstein controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Jong on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jong tries to get out of the position.
Jong keeping moving, preventing Bernstein from controlling successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Rugal Bernstein.
Jong tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Bernstein takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Jong circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Bernstein drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Jong follows Bernstein to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!

Griffon pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Thompson shoots for a takedown but Griffon saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Thompson avoids a kick to the body.
Thompson shoots in looking for a takedown. Griffon tries to sprawl out of it but Thompson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Griffon manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Thompson has his takedown stuffed

so Griffon counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Tizoc Griffon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Thompson.
Griffon wants to control from the top but Thompson keeps moving.

Thompson pushes a forearm under Griffon's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Griffon is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
