Svensson tries for a takedown but Bantum sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Donk. Bantum catches Svensson right on the button with a cross.
Bantum misses with a double jab.
Bantum tries to bum rush Svensson with a series of wild strikes but Svensson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Bantum on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Svensson. Svensson obviously looking to wear him down.

and Svensson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Bantum's guard now.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Svensson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bantum's waist but Bantum gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Svensson off to one side.

I really don't envy Gailfus right now.

and Pennanen counters with a shoot takedown. Ovenglove fights it but they end up in guard.
Ovenglove wants to stand and escape but Pennanen is having none of it.
Pennanen content to stall in guard here.
Pennanen working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Juho Pennanen.

Ovenglove really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pennanen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Pennanen seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ovenglove for as long as he can get away with.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Pennanen closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pennanen lands in his opponent's guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ovenglove is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Pennanen postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Pennanen is staying tight to Ovenglove's torso, preventing him from escaping.

and Backman takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Edward throws a leg kick but Backman sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Edward lands a nice leg kick that just misses Backman's sensitive parts.
Edward throws the left hand but Backman avoids the punch easily.

and Edward counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Edward fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Backman looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Edward is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Backman had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

and Edward counters with an inside leg kick.

and Edward counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Backman breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Edward slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Backman is breathing heavily.

Edward has managed to clinch.
Edward gets through Backman's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Oh Backman is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Edward creates some distance for himselfand unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Backman's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Backman drops to his knees and Edward pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
