GANJA!!! Oh my life just keeps getting better and better. Every time I fly down here to Rio, I find some crazy party and get mega-wasted. Life as an MMA journalist is not easy. Too many women, too many drinks and way too much ganja. Yet again, that might only apply to me. We had yet another amazing card here at The Wild Den. Surrounded by three thousand screaming fans, a few hundred spicy Brazilian women and exciting MMA action, what event isn't amazing here at TWD? Every fight in the main card ended in a stoppage. The fans went absolutely wild, even if it meant the fights finished quicker. Ganja had the time of his life but you didn't come here for a crazy story. You came here for a recap and that's what you'll be getting. Let's review the ganja-loving fights, shall we?

Main Event:

Antonio Carlos "Storm" Ferreira (6-0) Vs. Slava Smirnov (5-1)

There's nothing like a heavyweight title fight to close the show! The fans were in for a treat as soon as those light came down. Ferreira was making his third title defense, but it wouldn't come easy however. He would have to get past fellow striker Slava Smirnov. It was a dog fight from the opening bell. Smirnov came out swinging looking to take the champion out early. Ferreira showed his experience however and easily avoided the challenger's bombs. After a brief, and very violent exchange, Ferreira took the fight into the clinch. The champ landed a flurry of punches on the head an body of the challenger before stepping back into striking defense. Ferreira dished out some brutal kicks to finish the bout! He landed a straight then knocked him opponent off balance with a sharp leg kick. The champion delivered two brutal body strikes before landing a massive head kick that knocked Smirnov on his ass. The champ followed his opponent to the ground and pounded his face into the mat until the ref had no choice but to stop the fight. God damn!

Antonio Carlos Ferreira wins via TKO (Strikes) in 3:56 of round one.

Co-Main Event:

"DJ" Ozuma Obata (7-3) Vs. Pedro Costa (7-2)

This fight certainly riled up the crowd for the main event. These two welterweights are two vicious strikers that want nothing but to knock the other man out. The former number one contender,  Pedro Costa was looking to get back into the title picture. After losing the his title fight, he's picked two wins and proved he's ready for the next level. The title wouldn't be handed him however. He first had to beat the monstrous, well-rounded, Ozuma Obata. I knew this one wouldn't go the distance but what happened was just ridiculous. Obata didn't let Costs throw a single punch, not one. He came out throwing leg kicks, and body kicks. Obviously trying to set his opponent for something much worse. Obata landed a huge he's kick that knocked Costa off his feet. Obata waved his wobbly foe to stand up and the fight continued! Obata landed another leg kick before catapulting off the canvas and crashing his fist perfectly into Costa's jaw. Just like that it was all over!

Ozuma Obata wins via KO (Superman Punch) in 0:23 of round one.

Main Card:

Palito Gomez (6-4) Vs. Vitor "The Phenom" Belfort (4-7)

Oh how I love the "block". These guys desperately need a win and only the most desperate man will survive. The first few moments of the fight proved me right. Belford threw a blizzard of punches. He battered Gomez until he feel to his knees. But Gomez wasn't done yet. The veteran came right back into the fight and started of the craziest exchanges I've seen in my career. It was truly something of this world. The went back and forth, each man getting the worse of it. The took turns beating the hell out of each other, but despite his earlier success, Belfort would be the one to fall. Gomez landed a huge uppercut towards the middle of the round and I knew it was all over. Gomez was overcome by madness and put a huge combination together. Left hook, right hook, spinning back fist and it was all she wrote for Belfort! Don't fire Gomez, he's crazy...

Palito Gomez wins via KO (Strikes) in 1:47 of round one.

"Whisper" Brakeo Sanchez (6-4) Vs. Lim Minho (0-1)

Talk about unfair! Who set this up?! A guy with ten professional MMA fight against an eighteen year making his debut? I'll give it up to the kid though, he hung in there. Minho's specialty is striking and that's exactly what he did, even of his faster, stronger opponent was getting the better of him in the clinch. Sanchez is also a striker but chose to take a different approach. He dragged the youngster into the clinch and pounded him out for the first tree minutes of the fight. He hammered his elbow into his opponent's face with ease. Sanchez eventually gave up on the clinch and went back to striking distance. His body shots didn't go unnoticed. He dropped Minho with a huge head kick! The only thing that saved him was the ell ringing. I was literary biting my fingernails during the interval. I knew Sanchez would blitz into the exchange trying to finish Minho off. Sanchez took advantage of his tired opponent lowering his guard for a split second and clipped him with a brutal head kick that knocked him out cold. Not the best way to make your professional debut.

Brakeo Sanchez wins via KO (Head Kick) in 0:15 of round two.

Bo Lo (1-3) Vs. Steve "Insane" Ficken (1-1)

It was yet another case of the bad records looking to keep their jobs. Bo Lo and Steve Ficken don't have any outstanding skills, I'm going to be honest. The one thing they do have of spirit, but spirit alone doesn't win fights. Bo Lo seemed to have just a bit more tonight. Lo came out banging away at his opponent's body. He dug his knuckles into the soft flesh, looking to wear him out quick. Lo continued his assumption forcing his opponent to circle around him. Once Lo had him in his sights, he unleashed a massive hook that knocked Ficken out cold! It wasn't rocket science! The simple game plan worked out this time!

Bo Lo wins via KO (Punch) in 0:35 of round one.

Prelims:

"TJ" Thomas Jackson (3-1) Vs. Artemio Bayagris (0-0)

Thomas Jackson wins via Submission (RNC) in 0:55 of round one.

Cruz Vito (0-0) Vs. Gary "Pitbull" Jones (1-1)

Cruz Vito wins via Unanimous Decision.

Victor "Minigun" Kang (2-2) Vs. Ivan Gornev (0-0)

Victor Kang wins via Unanimous Decision.

Redzy "360" Brice (0-1) Vs. "The Brazilian Beast" Mirachi Machita (0-3)

Redzy Brice wins via TKO (Strikes) in 3:42 of round two.

Ipad Dsix (2-3) Vs. Tutu Araribe (4-4)

iPad Dsix wins via Unanimous Decision.

That's all fi tonight. Tell them bitches Ganja's on his way! Keep your lungs full and your minds open. Ganja out...
