Hello CFC Managers -

Reminder to all CFC fighters that we are now 3 weeks away from our first ever pay per view. Some of you have begun to receive offers for that card. We will continue to book it over the next 8-9 days with a mix of CFC talent and international fighters seeking superfight opportunities.

Thank you to everyone who is putting their money down at the CFC Casino every week.  Odds will be up for this upcoming weekend’s two shows by the end of Monday. The activity at the bookie helps with the event rating and attendance. We also have hired a poster maker, so expect to see those for each event moving forward.

CFC 262 took place just three weeks before the Canadian Fighting Championship’s inaugural pay per view event. Lightweight champion Christian Slaughter headlined the card with a title defence against previously undefeated newcomer Sal Manella.  Slaughter, who celebrated 12 months as CFC champ earlier this month, introduced Manella to the challenging world of the CFC, punishing him in three of the four rounds before stopping him with ground strikes in the final round.  Manella, many of whom did not give enough credit heading into the bout, proved his toughness, however. He likely took a round off the champ and forced him deep into the championship rounds.

In the co-main event it was the aggression of Tony Mantegna that was the deciding factor in his contest against Dominic Fauatea. Mantegna came at him with a barrage of punches and Fauatea attempted unsuccessfully to slow him down by bringing the fight into the clinch. Fauatea was badly cut, which may have played a role in the finish, where Mantegna capitalized on Fauatea squinting a little to put him away.

Nobody was surprised when Vitor Gracie shot in for a double right off the bell. Sean Brophy did well to sweep him and then prevented several submission attempts and even mounted the BJJ black belt, but towards the tail end of the round he was caught in a triangle and forced to tap out with just sick seconds remaining in the round.

Kale Cruz put himself back into the winner’s circle with a dominant victory over Maxime Oppong, taking Oppong down at will before surprising many, most notably Oppong, with a combination on the feet that floored him.

Today’s card was host to the two Lightweight Tournament semi-finals matches, with the fighters knowing that the two winners would meet each other in the opening bout of the CFC’s first ever pay per view card. Gaia Ky used his controlling clinch game to gradually wear down Aki Sunn and was able to use a quick moment of separation to land a vicious right hook that knocked Sunn out of the match and the tournament. The two fighters both went home with Fight of the Night bonuses added to their cheque, however.

In the other semi-final, Brian Dawkins needed less than four minutes to dispose of Ben Harper. Up until the moment of the knockout, however, Harper was controlling the fight, bringing Dawkins into the clinch and taking him down. But when you’re fighting a guy with the raw KO power Dawkins has exhibited in his 13 knockout victories it can happen at any time.

Elsewhere on the undercard:

Master Chuin submitted Jack Kevorkian in the first round and earned the Sub of the Night Award

Floppy McPoppins won his third straight CFC fight with a first round knockout of Pantero Athrox

Jack Conrad won the only decision of the evening, shutting out Rickson Silva
