This past Saturday night, Aug 25/2012, Tapout or Passout FC held another top notch sellout event at The Underground in Montreal.  It was an action packed  night of fights from top to bottom of the card.  So without further delay let's breakdown the fights and see who took a step forward in becoming a legend in the world of MMA!!!!

Our First battle on the main went down in the WW division:

"The Shining Wizard" Hiroshi Hase  vs.  George "Rush" St. Pierre

This one was the textbook striker vs. grappler battle.  Hase came into it with bad intentions throwing hands.  He had a fight resume littered with "KO of the Night" awards and was looking to add to his bank account int this tilt.  St. Pierre had an intresting build up to this one.  He was dropped by his manager only weeks before the fight but hung in there and trained hard to meet his contracted fight obligation.  Would he be able to handle the heat of Hase though???  As the bell rang for round one Hase shocked everyone and scored a nice trip takedown!!! He knew enough not to fiddle faddle down on the mat for long though and risk the submission attacks of GSP and made his way back the standup position.  Predictably Hase started to pepper GSP with crisp boxing as he defended takedown attempts.  St. Pierre knew the game though and was relentless finally dragging Hase to the floor...but wait Hase popped right back up and the round came to an end.  In the second GSP smothered his opponent with clinch, takedowns and top control and took the round on most observers scorecards.  Hase came out in the final frame frustrated and on the attack.  In seconds he clipped "Rush" with a cross and deposited him on the canvas then lept into his guard landing a massive punch and turning out the lights.  It was Henderson vs. Bisping all over again!!!!  Another KO of the night award for Hase and a huge win!!

The next pugilistic affair on the main card took place in the 145lb. division:

"Mister" Craig Anderson  vs.  Luke Taylor li

This one was interesting coming in.  Both fighters having undeveloped standup skills it appeared like a technical grappling struggle off the hop.  Only question was would Anderson deploy his sweet BJJ skills and force a tap or would Taylor stifle him with superior wrestling???  Well it wouldn't take long to get an answer.  Taylor shot the takedown straight away and secured it...funny thing is Anderson seemed totally fine with it and started firing off subs all over town.  After what was deemed a quick ref standup Taylor took it right back to the floor.  Anderson felt so at home he decided to take a huge chance and go for the kneebar.  Would he lose position or mangle Taylor's knee and induce the tapping???  Let the tapping begin!!! Anderson via kneebar in the second round.  Great win for Anderson.  He looks poised for another title run and that BJJ will catch any opponents attention.

The third main card bout was contested at 135lbs:

Urijah "McNuggets" Faber  vs.  Humphrey "Murda" Boggins

On paper this was a very even matchup.  Both men had been producing victories with their ground attack.  It would come down to fight planning and executuin to see who who would get the better of this probale ground war.  Or....would they throw caution to the wind and have it out on the feet???  Well when the bell rang for round one it became obvious that caution had not been thrown to the wind.  Boggins went for the takedown at light speed and secured it easily.  Wanting to work his top game and grind Faber out was clearly the plan.  There was one thing "Murda" forgot....Faber is like a wet noodle on the canvas...impossible to keep a grip on!  Faber worked smoothly and took the back of Boggins easily and efficiently.  Then it was just a matter of time. Faber stayed patient , locked down the RNC and put the baby to bed!! First round sub victory for "McNuggets".  Impressive stuff for a guy with such a delicious yet fatty nickname!

The next bout is the Co-Main event of the eveing!!! A title fight at 145lbs!!!

Joe "Bad Career Advice" Piscopo  vs.  Brett "Roadhouse" Swayze

Piscopo came into this one the newly crowned champion and was looking to defend his turf for the very first time.  The last thing he wanted was to be a one and done champion.  Piscopo is well rounded and is comtorable wherever the fight goes but has become best knows for his sub prowess.  Swayze is an experienced well rounded fighter who came in looking to steal the belt away in what would be considered an upset.  Most pundits felt his best opportunity would be to work his standup and Thai skills to part Piscopo from his senses.  Who would leave with the strap.....ding ding ding....as round one began tactics became clear.  Piscopo started working for a takedown but Swayze was solid defending.  "Roadhouse" worked the standup landing some shots but never hitting home with that game changer early on.  Around a minute in Piscopo got his wish and took the fight to the ground with a well timed takedown.  However, he was unable to capitalize.  Swayze defended and stalled and forced the standup.  Swayze then got aggressive with the standup and landed some decent shots on the champion.  Then it was like someone flipped a switch....Piscopo started to impose the heart and will of a champion.  He shot a beautiful takedown and this time there would be no return to standup for Swayze.  The champion iscolated an arm..and you guessed it...took that baby right home to mama.  First round sub victory via kimura.  A great win that will build the resolve of the 145lb champ and hopefully push him to another level.

ITTTTTT"S TIME! For the main event of the evening.  It would take place at 185lbs:

"The Cunning" Nick Folingus  vs,  Nash "The Smasher" Smith

What a main event for Top 15 - Fury!!!  This is a very interesting contest indeed.  Both fighters are on par in the striking department.  It is safe to say that striking is not the strongest part of eithers game.  So it became a question of would it be a stand and trade affair or would it go to the floor and become a contest of Nash's superior wrestling vs.  the high level BJJ of Folingus?   These two warriors did not take long to give us our answer.  In the opening moments Smith shot a beautiful takedown and slammed "The Cunning" into the gorund.  It was clear "The Smasher" was looking to do just that...smash.  He dominated Folingus through the opening minutes executing the G&P plan to perfection.  The crowd was starting to wonder how long Folingus could last....was the end near???  Then out of nowhere like a bolt of lightning, after being cold cocked by a diving Smith punch, Folingus locked on a triangle!!!!  That's a wrap folks!!!  Smith tapped and looked on in shock and dismay as Folingus celebrated with his corner.  This was a crazy finish and it begs the question:  Was this a lucky  desperation win for Folingus? Or was he just biding his time and absorbing the Smith G&P until he saw an opening? Either way a win is a win and these two are likely to answer those very questions at some point down the road.

So that's all for the main card.  The following is just a quick wrap of the undercard fights.  The undercard was stacked with new fighters and vets trying to climb the ladder to the pinnacle of Tapout or Passout FC.  Kudos to all the winners and the great effort by all fighters!!
