Blitzkrieg NY presents Blitz 132: Descent of Crows

The Note by: BrotherHec

Intro

Fight fans finally we are here to present to you one of the best cards Blitz has had in such a long time. Take a moment and reflect with me on your most favorite mma card, now look at this one….Great isn’t it!?

Blitzkrieg 132 Descent of Crows has everything you want in a fight card and to be honest with you I am so excited. The Match between Sam Hall and Peter Tosh is going to be absolutely huge and the fight im most excited for is the Moses Diggs vs Orville Redenbacher for the light heavyweight title of the world!

If you haven’t had the chance to read my interview with them, check it out in the forums under fighter interviews. Theres a poll there I would love if you voted. Personally I didn’t vote because I don’t know who will win and I like both the guys and their managers so I just want to see a good fight. Alright fight fans grab your bag of Orville Redenbachers popcorn and lets get started with Blitz 132 Descent of Crows!!!

Godeaux vs Montoya

Under the bright lights at Madison Garden Arena two lightweights go head to head looking to get their record back on the right path. Boudreaux Godeaux will be taking on Hidalgo Montoya this Saturday night  in an epic 155lbs bout. 18-6 Boudreax Godeaux has had his share of ups and downs and dropping from his top two hundred pound for pound rank has certainly put him in the most avenging state of mind he has ever been in. Godeaux is practically sensational in every area of his game and looks to show the fans of Blitzkrieg that he still has the IT factor. In his past five fights he suffered three defeats in which two of those were by knockout bringing about his first ever knockout loss by Gentleman Ghost. It soon followed up with another defeat in his first appearance at Blitz when he lost to Virgil Mays by tko as well in the first two minutes of the fight. Unsure of his role in Blitz the fans were starting to wonder whether or not he was becoming a “stepping stone” for other fighters. On the fourth of July he would later take on Europha Emanuel and go the distance claiming a highly debated split decision showing his fans that he can hang with the best in the world. In his most recent performance he would lose a Unanimous decision to Jed Masilungan, this loss sent Godeaux back down the wrong path. Fans often wonder whether or not Godeaux really wants to be here. His only victory in Blitzkrieg was by a split decision and that one victory  is in company with three losses. Whether or not he has had bad luck he certainly has to show the Blitzkrieg owners, fans, and the lightweight division that he is not here for the fame and fortune but to go out and one day become the best. This all starts Saturday night when he takes on Hildago Montoya. Is there a hole in Montoyas game? Well if there is I don’t know about it. Most of his losses come by way of decision. His most recent loss however came by a triangle submission in the first round. Other than that he lost a split decision at Blitzkrieg 121 and another at Blitzkrieg 109. A true legend at Blitzkrieg Montoya has been here since Blitzkrieg 67: Extertions. Its been a while since the fans have seen him win a bout and ever since he lost that title decision to Himmler he just hasn’t been fighting the way he used to. Its no secret that his game is top class and that he is a legend to the halls of Blitzkrieg but perhaps he needs to start thinking about taking a back seat for a while and revaluating his game plan. He definitely needs to if he wants to continue competing at the top level. He has got all the necessary skills to win it all but maybe he just needs that one push to greatness.. That one push would come in a victory this Saturday night. MY PREDICTION: Hildago Montoya is to skilled and we will see the Blitzkrieg legend get a long awaited finishing victory in the cage. I believe after tonight he will certainly continue to drive home powerful presence at Blitzkrieg once again and possibly facing the lightweight champion for the title in the future.

Kauffman vs Rei

The Thing Chad Kauffman one of the most deadly fighters that Blitzkrieg contains in the shark tank division of light heavyweights is going to welcome back to blitzkrieg Budo Rei! Ok so you might not be as excited I am so let me help you with that. First we will start with Chad Kauffman. In his past seven fights he has just one loss to none other then Orville Redenbacher. Immediately after he lost that fight he got right back on the path fighting Brick Top two pay-per-views later and knocking him out in the 2nd round. Kaufman is unbelievably skilled earning 11 of his 21 victories by knockout and 1 by submission. The only way for a fighter to beat him so far is to knock him out and to do that you better have hands of stone. The Brown Belt in BJJ is not afraid to show his grappling skills and if it comes to that you better believe an opponent might just get tapped out unless they can get back to their feet. Kauffman is no joke when it comes to Blitzkrieg, a huge fan favorite in virtually every fight he enters he holds no bars and takes no prisoners you give him  a moment to finish and he will. His opponent is probably the most famous name at such a young age, Budo Rei! If you aren’t sure who Budo Rei is you will be after this fight. With only 17 bouts in his career the 24 year old has taken the mma world by storm. With 9 knockouts in his 12 earned victories he too is a huge finisher. Budo Rei has won the Syn Europe Million Dollar Tourney, was the Syn Euro Heavyweight champion and was inducted into the Syn Euro Hall of fame all at the age of 24 now you tell me that’s not impressive. From famous managers like Lance Templeton to Avon Barksdale they all know who he is and what he is more than capable of. With ups and downs in his career like every other fighter countless fans are awaiting the return of the Syn Euro Budo Rei who knocked out opponent after opponent. It may start this Saturday night the possibility of both of these fighters getting knocked out is high, infact I wouldn’t besuprised if this was the knockout of the night fight right here. Let me make that as my first prediction, this fight will have knockout of the night. Now Budo Reis long awaited return to the cage is hopefully not going to be scarred by another TKO by cut incident like it was when he fought O Fortuna and Aloha Hoi. Finally before we got to my prediction we must note that in order for either of these two fighters to win here come Saturday they will certainly have to embrace the idea of defeat. When they do that they will have nothing holding them back and I am positive that the one who can do that will win this bout. MY PREDICTION: Chad Kauffman. Listen, hes been in the game longer. Much more experience and has no concerns here at Blitzkrieg. He too wants his title shot so he will go through Budo Rei tallying up his victory marks.

Barraquinha vs Hopkins

Come Saturday night NYC’s Finest Punchmen wont just have to worry about Sam Hall but also Angelito “Barracuda” Barraquinha. Perhaps the hardest name to say five times fast. Angelito has been on an unbelievable record in his past five fights winning every single one and earning two fight of the night awards. The former middleweight champion has compiled an astounding 9 victories inside the Blitzkrieg cage. A true legend of the cage he has been with Blitzkrieg since Blitz 69! Angelito has suffered a few losses here and there but who hasn’t right? One of the greatest middleweight fighters that we have the pleasure to watch is taking on one of his toughest challenges come Saturday night as Tito Hopkins looks to end that beautiful streak and end it violently.  Also the former Middleweight champion of Blitzkrieg Tito Hopkins is no doubt a sensational knockout artist knocking out so many of his opponents and going on win streaks over and over again. Recently coming off of a loss from his title Tito Hopkins looks to defeat one of the top contenders in the division to get that title match back underway. A fun fact for all you folks at home, Hopkins has never suffered back to back losses. Everytime he was defeated he would come back and get the victory. He did that over and over again. Hopkins vs Barraquinha is a match between two of the greatest middleweights this division has ever seen. Two former champions. Two fighters who are so desperate to get that title shot and once again live in the limelight. When these two fighters actually step inside the cage with each other let me just say that I really do expect this one to go the distance. Hopkins doesn’t knockout every single opponent he goes up against and Barraquinha has one of the strongest jaws you can find. He has no doubt reached his peak in his skills and only looks to improve. The two fighters will go head to head Saturday swinging back and forth at each other until the bell sounds but I cant really see one knocking out the other. MY PREDICTION: This is such a tough prediction for me because I don’t have a clue. It really could go either way but heres my take. Tito Hopkins. He has never lost back to back before and he continues to have that hunger every fight after so we will see how the streak of Barraquinha matches up to the revenge of Hopkins!

Diggs vs Redenbacher 205lbs title

Ok so if you follow what I write then you clearly know how big this fight is for me. Orville the freaking champion Redenbacher against Moses One Bad Man Diggs! This fight is going to be EPIC! If organizations could have hall of fame fights I can pretty much guarantee you that this one will be in it. When I sat these two gentleman down at the beginning of the week they were swearing and yelling really calling each other out. Diggs says hes going to knockout Redenbacher, Redenbacher says hes going to knockout Diggs, I was calling for security to keep me safe! What separates this fight from every other fight on the card you ask? First this fight is for the greatest title that MMATYCOON has, the Blitzkrieg light heavyweight championship. Second its former champion vs current champion, Young Lion vs Old lion, Simba vs Scar! They aren’t related though. This will not only be fight of the night but fight of the year. These two guys hate each other. The only reason, and they both said this, they didn’t fight at the studio with me that night was because they wanted to save the beating for the cage. Now I know the managers are cool with each other but could you imagine being the manager of the guy who loses the fight? Listen this is a rematch. If you don’t know let me tell you. Moses Diggs only lost once in his last five fights and that one loss was to Orville for the title. When the two finally squared off it was hellacious! Moses Diggs had suffered a really bad cut that was just pouring from his face. He claims that the bleeding was impairing his vision but like a true warrior he continued to fight on. It was the very first time in his entire career where a fighter had actually knocked him out! There was another time where the referee stopped the fight and another where the blood was so bad Moses Diggs was swinging at the referee. But no other time had he actually been knocked out cold. With his latest win against Ignatius Reilly, Orville is now on a ten fight winning streak and the last three fights were title matches. Orville is not just at the top of the division he has become the division. Anyone who is anyone wants to fight him and take the title away. Can Orville actually be defeated? Yes. What Diggs has to do is get that TKO like Hathaway and Matazz got. Either that or ride out the fight scoring on points but its more dangerous to do that because everyone knows that when this bell rings so will blood pour from the eyes of Diggs. Chris Karter and Dwayne Perry will both be glued at cage side to see what happens and you better believe this is a fight that I too have added to my spoiler list! Im so excited for this fight and I really wish both fighters good luck. MY PREDICTION: Fight of the Year.

Hall vs Tosh

Ladies and Gentleman we have finally got to our main event of the evening. Sam Hall the pound for pound best fighter who lives vs Peter Tosh the tenth best welterweight alive. Now lets just get this part straight a lot of people have been asking me why aren’t they fighting for the title? If it’s the best fighters in the division fighting in the same org why don’t they fight for the title. Now im not sure on this but ill say it anyway. Peter Tosh is probably not going to stay with Blitzkrieg after this fight which is a real shame because if he did and he won he would be facing the best of the best. I spoke to Tosh manager recently and he was thrilled about this fight he found it a great opportunity for Peter and that he was more than excited of what could happen come Saturday. What could happen folks? When you look at the two fighters they are so evenly matched its almost scary. Well since he lost to Sam Hall in 1776, Peter Tosh has gone out and knocked out two opponents. He is probably still signed with Gamma and if he wins this fight will probably schedule a third fight between him and Sam Hall. In his past eleven fights only 1 is a loss. The other ten were pure victories and that is one of the heaviest statements for a  fighter to make. Sam Hall is also riding a very impressive fight streak with 12 fights 11 of which are clean victories while 1 is a draw. Sam Hall is no doubt the best fighter in the world right now. He may be ranked as third but truthfully who can stop this man? He goes out show after show and knocks out countless opponents and half the time you wonder if these opponents are out there to fight because they just get picked apart. Sam Hall currently holds a record of 33-6-2 that of a legend no doubt. He goes out and finds that one weakness his opponents have and exploits it over and over again. Is there a way to beat this kind of fighter? Definitely. Can it be done? Yes. Is it likely? No. See he has been in there with the best. He has beaten the best. He has even faced Peter Tosh and took him the distance beating him as well. Is it possible that he will lose anytime soon? Perhaps. Peter Tosh has fought Sam Hall this much is true but who really has everything to lose here? Its definitely not Peter Tosh. If he beats Sam Hall come Saturday night every org is going to want him that much more and you better believe that the third fight will happen. Peter Tosh is in my opinion the guy that has the most legitimate chance of stopping  Sam Hall. It may not be by knee bar and it might not be by decision but it very well may be by a surprising TKO. Just as Peter Tosh has that chance to end Sam Halls reign of terror so to does Sam Hall have the chance to once again show the world why he is the best. MY PREDICTION: Sam Hall. If he realizes that this could be the biggest threat to his career then I guarantee you Sam Hall will win, but if he doesn’t and he takes this fight lightly because he beat Peter Tosh before he will lose.

Closing

Well fight fans I am done here. I really hope you enjoyed your fighters preview and look forward to watching the fights. Hopefully you enjoy all of them Im sure I will.
