BFC Super Wednesday 3 / BFC 13 Preview

This week Brutal FC sets up residence in the St Peterseberg Hard Knocks for not one but two nights of action. Wednesday (22nd) sees the third in the promotions Super Wednesday series whilst Saturday (25th) will play host to BFC 13- La Ahad vs Growwoo. BFC most recently visited Hard Knocks on 11th of august for BFC 12 which was headlined by an epic light heavyweight battle between defending champion Quientin Costa and challenger Og Kush. A devastating uppercut in the 23rd minute of the bout secured not only the belt for Kush but also Fight of the Night bonus for both combatants. Kush is expected to go on to make his first defence against Hank Henry on 1st September at BFC 14- which also sees the conclusion of the 155lb GP.

The Super Wednesday card is topped by two heavyweight bouts- Canadian knock out specialist Neik Hammerlik (23-12 MMA, 2-1 BFC) takes on former HFA champion Ross “the climax” Maxwell (16-8 MMA, 0-0 BFC) who makes his BFC début riding an 8 fight win streak which includes 7 consecutive first round finishes. While in the Co-main event Californian David Abbot (8-3 MMA, 1-0 BFC) takes on Russian Top Team submission machine and form IP heavyweight champion Elbrys Goran (8-1 MMA, 2-0 BFC). With each fighter risking their unbeaten streak in the promotion and known for highlight finishes expect fireworks from this bout.

Super Wednesday also see 170lb king Grease St Pierre (4-0 MMA, 4-0 BFC) make his 3rd title defence against Belgian wrestler Timo “the teapot” Verhoost (9-2 MMA, 1-0 BFC). GSP will surely look to take this to the floor against BJJ blue belt Verhoost as each of St Pierres previous outings has seen his opponent tap to the 19 year old black belt.

The main card is rounded out by a trio of featherweight bouts: Former champion Jo Davis (18-10-1 MMA, 1-1 BFC) tries to bounce back from defeat against 30 year old veteran and 2 time national wrestling champion Jett Jagers (12-9 MMA, 1-0 BFC). Korean Ho Sung Pak (10-9 MMA, 0-1 BFC) who's last loss was to Jagers takes on Thailand's Sanouk Fairtex (18-8 MMA, 0-1 BFC) who's last loss was to Davis. Rounding off the featherweight marathon is Canadian Boxer Conrad Kane (0-2 MMA, 0-1 BFC) looking for his first win against Polish wrestler Abrak Basangur (2-1 MMA, 1-1 BFC) who looks to rebound from the first loss of his career.

BFC 13 is headlined by a 205lb bout between Israeli Altaïr Ibn La Ahad (9-2 MMA, 2-0 BFC) and Aucklands Remy Growwoo (10-3 MMA, 0-0 BFC) who makes his promotional début on a 3 fight win streak. La Ahad has shown brutal knees since signing with BFC knocking out both Hank Henry and Schnitzer Schnitz with knees- earning him KO of the night in his promotional début at BFC8, while Growwoo's sharp elbows have caused the doctor to intervene to save 3 of his opponents. So look for some great Muay Thai skills from both fighters.

4 heavyweights see an outing at this event: CoHeadliners Trevor Reznik and Vik Ben and main card openers Tony Rosholt vs Jamie Foster.

Travor Reznik (6-1 MMA, 4-1 BFC) is a former heavyweight champion and 4 time knock out of the night winner, the only blemish on his career is to current champion Velasquez. Undefeated Ben (5-0 MMA, 4-0 BFC) has finished all his previous foes by way of knock out, 3 of which he took under a round to do. Both men have a record of going in and throwing leather, and there's no reason why this match should be any different, expect a KO that reverberates around both the arena and the heavyweight division.

London based Tony “nerves of steel” Rosholt (11-4 MMA, 3-1 BFC) and Helsinki based American Jamie Foster (23-11 MMA, 0-0 BFC) are both former fight of the night recipients and have a combined 24 knock out wins under their belts this one should be a war.

The lighter weight classes are represented on the main card by a bantamweight title fight between champion Transilvanian grappler Maraco “the murderer” Draco (5-6 MMA, 1-0 BFC) making his 1st title defence against 19 year old up and comer Tuffy Nelson (5-2 MMA, 2-0 BFC). Kumite veteran Draco was gifted a title shot in his promotional début at super Wednesday 2- an opportunity he seized with both hands- dominating champ Norbert Schwager 50-45 across all the judges score cards to capture both the belt and a fight of the night bonus. Nelson joined the promotion at BFC FN2 where a submission of the night kimura over Brian Tombo just 13 seconds into the fight began his title campaign, which was solidified by a 2nd round TKO stoppage over Marian Lenart at super Wednesday 2- the same night Draco won the title. Whilst the challenger has previously shown great competency on the ground for a blue belt the champion is an elite grappler- so nelson should look to work his boxing in this bout and with the champ known to have strong leg locks this promises to be a classic stylistic match up.
