Two fighters with impressive MMA careers finally meet again in the IMMA cage for a grudge match that will define redemption. In their first fight for the IMMA middleweight championship took place at IMMA 73 in the sold out Suomi International where it ended badly for Igor Glozman, in defeat by armbar. A victorious champion celebrated in the cage as the crowd ripped in a roar. With his hand raised he thanked the fans and said “Great plan taking down one of the greatest ground fighters in the game”. Gomer Pyle then soon started hearing chants of “General” from the fans. On August 22 at IMMA 79, they get to do it again as this has become one of the most anticipated rematches in IMMA history. This is the Countdown to IMMA 79: Gomer Pyle vs. Igor Glozman 2.

Gomer Pyle a two time IMMA middleweight champion and IMMA welterweight champion looks to defend the middleweight title on August 22 at the sold out Suomi International arena in Helsinki. With only one loss in his last 14 fights Pyle goes to solidify his pound for pound rankings with next fight against Glozman. The ex-marine where nick named “General” had toured Iraq and Afghanistan where he earned a silver star and a purple heart. There in the marines is where he started martial arts as he 2nd degree black belt in MCMAP (Marine Corps Martial Arts Program).

Pyle’s MMA debut didn’t last long, five seconds. But the victor wasn’t Pyle as he suffered a devastating lost. But if you ask Pyle now he looks back at it in a humoring way. “I didn’t even break a sweat that fight” said Pyle. But after he revamped his training and started his tear in tycoon world. The known champion has a secret outside of MMA which is surprising at the least. Pyle is a book worm, an intellect.

Not only is Pyle into literature but his first love is mathematics. Aside from fighting Pyle continues to study math to broaden his mind and enjoys it as a hobby. “Because he likes math and likes to read, I have to believe it brings a since of clam and or maybe some secret shit that no one else knows to the game. Maybe he see’s angles differently. I don’t know but he wins and he good at it”, Megajug owner of IMMA.

Going into this rematch Pyle maybe joking and light hearted but his training also serves no joke. At Amsterdamage the gym Pyle trains at, it seems everyone there is all business. With every fighter there the family aspect of seems a motto as words of encouragement and support is none lacking. But asking Pyle what his game plan is against Glozman is simple. “My game plan this time is no different from last time. I plan to kick his ass again”.

Not to far away at Mini Blocko’s Gym, Igor Glozman has a familiar set of guys that help him prepare for the fight. With great talent in his camp Igor sets to turn the tables this time with a very different result. “The last time we fought, my game plan was wrong. I flew in from Vegas and was jet lag and just wasn’t all there. But no excuses Pyle had a great night but this time it won’t be like that”. Igor says calmly. A one time high school basketball star on his way to a scholarship in which he declined to go to the army, Igor’s introduction to MMA isn’t too different from Pyles.

While enlisted in the Special Forces, Igor trained in Muai Thai and BJJ in the Israeli army. Later Igor realized that MMA was his calling and decided to compete at a professional level. Igor comes from a loving family where he has 3 other siblings and which his parents continue to support him even though they end fighting weary. “He is my son, I don’t like it when he gets hit. I don’t like when they are in there trying to beat each other up”, says Igor’s mother.

With his last win over Abe Goldman, Igor wanted this rematch more than anything. He contacted IMMA owner Megajug immediately after his win to request a rematch for the middleweight championship. “I got a call from Igor with him pleading a rematch. I have never witnessed a request for a fight like this one. After I saw what happened to Abe and how their last fight went, I wasn’t against it. I am for it. This fight has a lot riding for both fighters but more importantly it’s a grudge match”, say Megajug.

“This time I am going to kick his stupid ass”, says Igor. A fired up Igor can be very dangerous especially since he has amazing Muai Thai. “What I see this time around is Igor utilizing his MT more and taking the fight to the clinch. If he is able to keep the fight standing in the clinch then he has a chance. But if Pyle can take it to the ground or if it turns into a slug fest, I think Pyle has an advantage”, says Megajug.

Come August 22nd these two warriors will meet for the second time in the cage in front of a sold out crowd of 19,500 people. This will be the second time they will match wits and brawn to determine the middleweight champion. Will Pyle be victorious and remain the #1 middleweight in the world or will Igor ruin Pyle’s parade and not dethrone his #1 status but also take the title? Tune in August 22nd IMMA 79 live on PPV as Gomer Pyle takes on hungry Igor Glozman.
