RS 112- 2 Year Anniversary

For the second time in Tycoon history the Tokyo Dome was utilized to host Rising Sun’s 2 Year Anniversary Extravaganza. The event boasted some of the biggest superfights in Tokyo in which over 38,000 fans were in attendance. Steve Austin was the only Rising Sun to defend his championship in a showdown with Boudreaux Godeaux. In the Main Event slot, Don Marciano and Son Goku clashed in a much anticipated rematch from their epic first matchup nearly 9 months ago.

The first meeting between Mariciano and Goku was a war of attrition that saw both men battle back and fourth for nearly 50 minutes. Goku earned the controversial unanimous decision and Marciano has been biding him time till the RS 2 YR Anniversary event to avenge his only loss. Much like the first bout, both fighters came out swinging and looking to exert their dominance. However, this time it was Son Goku who clearly had the early edge on his foe. For a solid 26 minutes Goku was in clear control of the fight and looking like he would earn another hard fought unanimous decision over Marciano. In the end, Marciano won the fight the only way he knew how. Goku, who was wobbled out of no where from a previous jab, looked to stay on steady legs but was brutalized by a Maricano uppercut. The devastating punch put Goku out before he hit the ground and awarded Don Marciano some much deserved revenge and respect from Son Goku.

In the Co-Main Event of the evening, Kenneth Williams played spoiler to the rising prospect and RS LHW Champion, Ryo Narushima. The undefeated champion was at a loss on the feet and especially on the ground after being submitted with a Triangle choke. It seems that Narushima lost concentration while on top in Williams full guard and allowed the BJJ Black belt to secure the submission. Narushima who now has a blemish on his record will look to wreck havoc on whoever opposes him next.

Sean Ripgut continues to cement his legacy with a one sided victory over the legendary Piotr Rasputin. After dispatching his last three opponents via TKO, Ripgut returned to his former self and put on a 30 minute striking clinic against Rasputin. Throughout the bout Ripgut worked over his opponent within the clinch and battered him on his way to a unanimous decision victory. Their has been rumor that Sean Ripgut might venture over to rival Tokyo org ONI and compete with one of their top fighters.

Also on the card, Henry Lucas and Nobutaka Hiyoshi went toe to toe for 30 minutes in their Welterweight superfight. Lucas, who recently successfully defended his title in a controversial decision, never allowed Hiyoshi in this bout. From striking distance and within the clinch, Henry Lucas utterly dominated his opponent. In the end, Lucas earned the clear cut unanimous decision and could be another fighter making the jump to ONI to challenge a champion and come back with a scalp for RS.

The legendary Billy Butcher now known as Junior Dos Santos bid his farewell in a successful matchup against RIP Evan Tanner. Dos Santos survived an early ground onslaught and managed to bring the fight back to the feet in the first round. Later in the round, Dos Santos connected with a hook that put Tanner on dream street. Dos Santos followed up with more strikes and forced the referee to intervene at 6:58 of the first round. This should get Dos Santos in the history books as one of the toughest RS MW Champions in the orgs history.

In the only RS Championship bout of the evening, Steve Austin put his RS LW Championship on the line against the last reigning PFL LW Champion Boudreux Godeaux. Both fighters pushed the pace and tried to effectively assert their own dominance. Godeaux was the slightly more accurate striker as he was able to catch the champion with multiple stiff counter shots and stinging leg kicks. However, the champion wasn’t going to give up without a fight as he kept up with Godeaux’s offensive output but was unable to achieve the same success. In the end, one of the judges saw the fight as a draw and the other two awarded Godeaux the victory. Godeaux now reigns as RS LW Champion and could be up against Austin in what should be a hotly contested and almost necessary rematch.
Rising Sun’s only Red Belt HW, Edward Wong, continued his path of destruction as he dismantled favored 13-1 prospect Gigante Guerreiro Daileon. Both fighters traded positions on the ground throughout the contest but it was Wong who got the better of the two. Wong was able to wear down Daileon and secured the fight ending Kimura early in the second round.

The opening bout saw Shawn Destruction take on former RS HW Championship contender and all around bad ass Andres Aguinaldo. Taking the fight on a few weeks notice, Destruction wasn’t predicted to walk away with the victory or at all for that matter in this fight, but boy did he prove everybody wrong. Just like it was expected, the fight hit the ground in a flash and it was the Olympic Calibre Wrestler/BJJ Black Belt who had top position. Surprisingly, Destruction was able to get a sweep and the two jockeyed for position. Destruction ended up in full mount and rained down heavy punches on Aguinaldo. In an instant, Aguinaldo was busted open and the referee halted the bout at 3:56 of the first round giving Destruction the first round TKO (Cuts) victory.

This was the best event Rising Sun has hosted to date. Thanks to all fighters who stepped in for superfights. Thank you to all the managers who have stuck with Rising Sun since the beginning. And thank you for all the hard work. Once again at the top where we should be.
