HFC 53: Klimov vs. Ranieri

August 20th, 2016

For the 53rd HFC event, champion Voya Klimov takes on contender Joe Ranieri. This will be his 4th title defense, and according to HFC owner Aleksey Markov, perhaps his final one.

Will Ranieri topple the titan right before he retires, or will the hall of famer retire with one final victory?

Undercard Bouts

Featherweight: Matty “The Angler” Minchin (#20/22120) (1-3-0)(1-3-0 HFC) vs. Yandy “The Paindeer” Rudolphson (#19/19555) (1-2-0)(HFC Debut)

Prediction: Rudolphson - TKO

Middleweight: Radoslow “Cold Dream” Tomaszewski (#22/4949) (2-1-0)(HFC Debut) vs. Shawn “Jam” Jones (#19/4375)(6-4-0)(HFC Debut)

Prediction: Tomaszewksi - TKO

Heavyweight: Joseph Mumba (#19/6735)(1-0-0)(HFC Debut) vs. Frank “Little Frankie” Shewmaker (#12/4502)(5-4-0)(5-4-0 HFC)

Prediction: Shewmaker - TKO

Light Heavyweight: Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida (#10/3093)(7-2-0)(2-0-0 HFC) vs. Thomas Peterson (#8/3534)(4-0-0)(2-0-0 HFC)

Prediction: Machida - TKO

Heavyweight: “Dirty” Randy Curran (#18/4907)(3-1-0)(1-0-0 HFC) vs. Done Carvalho (#14/3513)(4-3-0)(2-1-0 HFC)

Prediction: Curran - TKO

Main Card

Featherweight Bout: Balbus “The Bully” Michael (#8/1734)(6-4-0)(0-1-0 HFC) vs. “The Notorious” Baeddan MacAuliffe (#12/3772)(5-4-0)(1-0-0 HFC)

After an amazing fight with Marcel Capuchin, Michael is back in the HFC for his second match – this time facing off against recent HFC addition MacAuliffe. Both fighters are evenly matched, so this should turn out to be an exciting fight!

Prediction: Michael – TKO

Heavyweight Bout: Andre “Pitbull” Arlovski (#6/1509)(13-9-0)(4-1-0 HFC) vs. Larry “Bullion” Mayflower (#4/2225)(11-5-0)(10-4-0 HFC)

Two of the high ranked heavyweight fighters here, the ground expert Mayflower facing off against standup fighter Arlovski! The former heavyweight champion, will Mayflower regain some of his lost glory, or will Arlovski gain back momentum after his loss against Stones Mahones?

Prediction: Arlovski – TKO

Middleweight Bout: Gus “Psych” Spencer (#17/5883)(9-6-0)(0-2-0 HFC) vs. Maui “Tokes-A-Lot-Of” Wowie (#16/4246)(7-3-0)(0-1-0 HFC)

Both of these fighters have never won in the HFC, which means that both of them will be fighting harder than ever for that first “W” here! Both fighters are evenly matched on their feet, but in the clinch and on the ground Wowie has the clear dominance. Can Spencer turn the tides and get a victory out of this?

Prediction: Wowie - TKO

Co-Main Event

Super Heavyweight: Fionn “Celtic Legend” MacCumhaill (#6/3467)(11-4-0)(1-2-0 HFC) vs. Greg “The Mountain” Clegane (#8/2709)(7-3-0)(4-2-0 HFC)

Two sluggers take to the stage to warm up the crowd for Klimov’s final title match!

MacCumhaill is a veteran fighter, only 26 years old and already 15 fights under his belt. He’s faced off against the unstoppable William Volkov and other great fighters in his past, at one point being the champion of the Immortals fighting organization. He’s beaten Clegane by a KO punch in only twenty seconds before, so he’s probably hungry to do that again.

Clegane, however, came back from that loss with a brilliant 1st round KO victory against Donald Trump. He’s likely been refining his striking so that he can match up against the veteran MacCumhaill and give him a taste of his own medicine.

In this stand-up rematch, who will take home the “W?”

MacCumhaill is managed by Dublin Twentytwo. Clegane is managed by Edgars Grin and is sponsored by both Last Minute Power Clothing and Voodoo Nutrition.

Prediction: Clegane - TKO

Main Event

Middleweight Bout: Voya “Shoumen” Klimov (#1/541)(10-3-0)(10-3-0 HFC) vs. Joe “The Pain” Ranieri (#5/2079)(14-6-0)(1-2-0 HFC)

In Klimov’s final title match, he takes on the fearsome Joe Ranieri. Not quite the matchup many fans were hoping for, with many wanting to see Rashid Magomedov or Jonny Bones Junior facing up against the champion due to their higher seed position. Nonetheless, it’s likely that Ranieri has trained hard for this fight and is ready to give Klimov a good match.

Ranieri is the former champion of RDFC and a famed Dignity fighter who had several shots at the title. He’s tangled with some fearsome HFC contenders before, most namely Frank Martin. It doesn’t bode well for “The Pain” that the man who beat him twice got knocked out in the second round by Klimov, however.

Klimov is a veteran fighter of the HFC, hailing all the way back to HFC1. He’s obtained the belt on 3 different occasions and then lost it immediately after 2 out of the 3 times. However, this 4th time he’s managed to keep the belt for 3 successful title defences. Will the TKO king manage to keep it for a 4th?

Klimov prefers his feet and Ranieri prefers the ground…will “Shoumen” get the knockout that he’s so famed for having, or will “The Pain” shock the world and manage to get the champion to tap out?

Klimov is managed by Aleksey Markov and is sponsored by Unity Clothing and Russian Bears Nutrition. Ranieri is managed by Saul Gonzalez and sponsored by Spartan Nutrition 160Q with Proof.

Prediction: Klimov - TKO
