Interview with Nate "Chollo Gangsta" Gonzalez

Fighter profile of Nate Gonzalez by Go Fuck Yourself

Interview with Nate “Cholo Gangsta” Gonzalez, lightweight champion of Island Combat.

1st question: Before we start, tell us about yourself?

Well ya already know that I’m coming straight out of Compton if you will… haha born and raised. Fought a bunch of amateur fights won some and lost some…. But I gained a little something from each fight ya know. So when it was time to make my pro debut on #TheIsland I had like a vet feel to myself right off the bat. Shit was clicking, and I picked up a nice winning streak real quick. It’s not just my skills that’s winnin, it’s my experience in fighting and in life I learned a lot of shit.

2nd question: You have gained a huge following, how does that affect you?

Haha yeah man I’m feelin the love and it’s much appreciated . Kinda came out of nowhere cuz when I first started out I was blowing up Buzz callin out everybodyyyyy tyrna to get a fight with a promotion. And I got a lot of backlash. A lot of haters. And plus my older brother Nick he is active asf on Buzz so a lot we got involved in the same Buzz wars. Some guys hate it. Some love it. Idk what happened but know it seems mostly positive compared to a couple weeks ago when I was getting a bunch of haters.

But to answer your question I guess it’s pretty cool ya know. It’s nice to see positive shit on my Buzz instead Connor Ruttenems bitch as blowing my shit up even though he’s not in the same division, or that notorious motherfucker, don’t get me wrong Nate is still there, but I’m getting a lot of love it’s coll. Haha

3rd question: What’s your workout routine? Have any tips for new fighters?

My routine obviously is a lot of fuckin cardio. You gotta be up to fight five hard rounds even if you are a finisher, and that’s exactly what happened to me in my last fight. You can be the best fighter in the world but if you gas in the middle of 3rd, you might as well be a slow ass moving punching bag in there so avoid that shit at all cost. Work your standup and BJJ you don’t wanna be 1-dimesinal cuz

If you are you will run into the other dimension. And that shit gonna suck

Any tips for new fighters?? I guess I’d just tell all you youngins to do your thang and don’t let anybody tell you shit. Just do you. My first big money fight was against Greg McConor and only I got that fight cuz I started talking shit at him on Buzz, and that fight for attention, and I eventually got the win. He might have been better at me at the time, but I didn’t back down. I’d tell y’all not to be a quiet fighter and not to back down from a challenge because you never know

4th question: Your last fight u defeated Richard Machan, with a unanimous decision. Have anything to say about the fight?

Yeah I don’t like talking shit about my opponents after the fact ya know. Win or lose. He’s a tough motherfucker and he’s got some serious ground skills, it ain’t easy to keep me on the ground and not fuck around and get your shit snapped, but that wasn’t my favorite style of fighting. I always fight for the eventual finish and I don’t feel he did that. But ya know he did what he had to do. Fucked up thing for him it wasn’t enough to get thru me, but I’m fuckin sure he will be back.

5th question: Who would u like to fight next?

Well I’m going to fight this Pyro motherfucker who is for some reason ranked above me. So after I fuck his ass up….. I don’t know who I wanna fight. I wanted to fight that Lobtov motherfucker but he ducked me like a fuckin bullet. I guess I wanna fight Peter Potter at 170 after this, come back down and fuck that Russian dork up in a superfight of course at #IslandCombat. I’m not leaving for any fight in her to do big things and end up at HOF. The Islands gonna remember the #GonzalezBrothers

Anything to say before we conclude this interview?

I just wanna say this Island has been a fucking ride man. First, I want to thank the man responsible for me being here today, my big brother Nick Gonzalez. He gave me my 1st boxing lesson and he’ll always be the main reason for my success. Thanks to my sponsors, thanks to JJ for always running an sick org and keeping this shit going till the end. And most of all thanks to the fans you have been fuckin dope. Imma going to keep this going, don’t know where I’ll be after, but the #GonzalezBrothers are here to stay

Thank you, Nate Gonzalez, for being here. It was a pleasure talking to you.
