Cold Blooded Review

OMEGA FIGHTING, Fight Organization, New York
Company profile by Justin Ass

In a sold out  packed house at the Underground Bar,  Omega Fighting presented it’s Cold Blooded event. It was the second event held by Omega Fighting here in New York, Selling out the thousand seat venue Cold Blooded gave what everyone came to see …plenty of great MMA action. So let’s run down all the action as it happened last night.

In the opening bout of the evening two young fighters stepped into the cage 19 year old Timothy Wilkinson and 18 year old Caius Cosades. Both of these fighters are looking to move up the ranks, with that they gave all they had last night, from the opening bell both traded some pretty good shots all night long. The fight going to the mat only a few time it was a  stand up battle. Cosades  receiving a cut late in the second round gave Wilkinson just enough points on the Judges score card to pull out a close but unanimous decision.

Remy Jacquard and Henry Diaz were up next. These two featherweights came out fast and hard no time sizing each other up in this fight…bombs away.  A wild combination from from Diaz that caught only air gave Remy the opening to land a beauty of a head kick Henry was out on his feet…Timber like a falling tree Henry Diaz came crashing to the canvas. KO win by Remy Jacquard round one.

In our third fight it was east meets west as New York’s Sam Kensington took on Las Vegas’ Colin Hastings in a middleweight fight.
Kensington who is known for his thin skin as a bleeder struck first blood as he caught Hastings with a solid shot. Hastings  quickly moved into clinch mode, working nicely out of the clinch lands a cross which opened up Kensington.

Hastings looking for the two punch combo but missing gets caught with a big right hand that sends him spinning to the canvas and  Kensington jumps all over him landing some New York bombs. Hastings could not defend in jumps the ref to stop the action at 1:33 first round TKO win by Sam Kensington

Next was a welterweight fight between Disyphlan Lovelair and Chris Smith ding ding the bell sounds and quicker than you can say Lovelair’s  first name Smith drops his opponent  with a beautiful combo…he’s rocked…he’s cut but not out.  Bad news for smith he just gassed himself out. Lovelair bounces back and bounces Smith of the cage down to the mat Lovelair gets Smiths back and a RNC Smith has to tap. Win via submission  Disyphlan Lovelair

.

Intermission as we get set for the mid card events let many of those in attendance grab there favorite gear and fighters  T Shirts from Urban Fighter. The Official apparel of OMEGA FIGHTING.

Kicking off the mid card the Lightweights to  the cage

 Capt. Kangaroo vs. Johnny Wrestling.

The fight started out slow and well remained the same pace few strikes were thron and fewer landed this fight main action was all done on the ground. The Capt. was giving his all trying to defend Johnny Wrestling but wrestling maintained his dominant position and getting the2nd round win by submission Kimura. A good debut win for Johnny wrestling.

Then we have the Heavyweights

Diego Brando and Frank Mir. Before this fight even got underway Diego was rushed by a crazy fan, though no harm came to Diego The nut job was cleared from the building and with the OK from Justin Ass the fight went on as scheduled.

Now were not sure if the fan had rattled Brando but it seemed Brando was off his game getting caught early Mir gets the takedown in the first round and there it stayed as Mir pressed  Brando for the entire round  Second round Brando scored on a takedown but a lapse of concentration allowed Mir to get a triangle on Brando and get the submission win.

Sticking with the Heavyweights Roger Fransson and Alexander Rewell hooked up to do battle. Fransson flying in from Helsinki and Rewell from Sweden now fighting out of New York. As expected the two like to wrestle so it was no surprise when it went to the mat. Fransson gets the takedown and Rewell fought opf what he could but in the end Rewell had to tap as Roger Fransson locked in the Kimura for the Submission win.

Middleweights were on the next , a very evenly matched bout featuring Anton Mirc and Carlos Kruschewsky. Both stand up fighters and like to bang it out. Mirc comes out  looking for low kick  Carlos though kept calm Mirc missed with a combo and boom Carlos surprise’s with a take down  Before Anton can think about what happened Carlos cacthes him with good ground shots landing a strong head shot hurt Anton bad. More strikes followed until the ref steps in for the save at 1:30 of round 1 TKO win Carlos Kruschewsky.

Co Main Event time brought us a fight between Heavyweights Johnny Kirks and Ato Velasquez.

Velasquez in his first fight gives Kirks the experience edge.  As the fight started early round one Kirks catches Ato with a nice left hook cutting Velasquez. Clinching up was Ato looking to get some defense on his side, Kirks kept up the pressure for most of the first round frustrating the less experienced Ato. Round 2 saw Kirks push Ato up in the cage working in the clinch wearing down Velasquez.

Third round much of a carbon copy of rounds 1 and 2 Johnny Kirks working his combos opened up the cut of Velasquez even more. Ato landing some strikes but in the end Johnny Kirks get the unanimous win.

Finally the Main Event of the evening was upon us Middleweight action. Vito Mazzini took on Waylon Mercy. From the start Vito wanted to bring this fight to the ground as Mercy is the better striker and round one we saw Vito get the takedown and that is where the fight stayed  Vito tried despertly for the submission win but Mercy was calm working control but not much more than that as Vito rode out the first round and some boos from the crowd. Mercy in round two kept on his feet Mazzini trying for some takedowns but unable to do so Mercy countering well cracking Vito with left hooks.

Vito lunges with  a right hand Mercy counters with a stiff right hand. Second round goes to Mercy. Round Three Vito needed to get back to the ground . Mercy started out with a nice jab to the body a counter misses and Vito get the take down  Mercy on his back defending well  Mazzini not able to get the submission but gets the decision  and the win in a close fight.

Omega Fans that is how we saw it and  we hope to see you at our next big Event High Voltage
