Event Preview: GAMMA#551 Richards v Bennet
Global Association of MMA
2016-04-09, London, Wombley Arena
Author:Mentor Guru Corleone

Event Date: 09.04.2016

Location: London

Arena: Wombley Arena

Who is ready for bone crunching punches? Loud crunching slams? The sound of a scream as a submission taps, or the crackle of cartilage as the nose breaks under a devastating right hand? I am, and you can bet you’ll get all that and much much more, on the GAMMA London Pay Per View, live from the Womberly Arena.

We have a tantalising feast of stand up wars, and an ultimate battle of kings for the GAMMA Middleweight Championship belt. I can’t wait for that fight, we know with Richards holding it the fight will at least be entertaining.

Time for blood!

UNDER CARD

- Robert De Noteboom vs Ilya Mstislav Volkov - 170 lbs

Prediction: The clear favourite to take out this bout very convincingly is Ilya Mstislav Volkov. He is on a massive win streak, has a good chin, decent power and out skills his opponent in all the right areas. Great test of his power given Noteboom is very hard to knock out, Volkov by TKO or unanimous decision if Noteboom’s chin holds up.

- Multtuli Margabiaru vs Keijo Harkimo - 265+ lbs

Prediction: A great stand up war that should warm up the audience nicely. Margabiaru is coming off two wins now at 21-9. Harkimo is struggling on a two loss streak and is now at an ordinary 33-23, 17 losses by KO, that is a lot of head trauma. Margabiaru by brutal first round stoppage.

- Ricard Cuenca vs Bich Nga - 205 lbs

Prediction: This contest is actually pretty evenly matched. Cuenca is 29 and 13, coming off two losses. Nga is heating up after a win bringing it to 14-5. On paper they are fairly even in skill, though I’d say Cuenca has a slight edge. If Cuenca has a good game plan, and has cleared his mind after those two losses, he could take this. Cuenca to turn it around with a decision win.

- Atte Peltola vs Jeremy Sullivan - 185 lbs

Prediction: The age old test of standing up and smashing fists, or slamming down and going for the submission. The Striker Peltola is 29-19-2, and on a good streak of three victories, interestingly though he does have a half decent ground game securing 3 submission victories thus far, though also having two losses by submission as well. The submissionist Sullivan is also on the trot after two wins, and sits at 15-6, with eleven by tap out. He can stand and bang at times as well, with a few wins by stand up stoppage in the past. Peltola for the win, by KO.

- Travis Bickle vs Graeme Symons - 170 lbs

Prediction: What a challenge for the arrogant Bickle's first ever GAMMA appearance. Does he have the goods? Or is he just another fighter who won't adjust to the rise in competition. Bickle is 21-5, he is on a seven fight win streak and only just relinquished the Trinity Welterweight Championship belt, and confidence is clearly very high. His opponent Symons is no easy challenge for the new comer, he is on a 3 fight winning streak at 17-10-1, and he can win anywhere and out skills the upstart in every category. A rough start for the new comer, Symons by submission.

MAIN CARD

#1 - Ein Stein (RED) vs Kira Miyata (BLUE) - 145 lbs

Red Corner: Ein Stein is 34 and is from Austria, now fighting out of Las Vegas. With a professional record of 30 wins, 13 losses and 1 draw. He is coming off a decision loss to Fernando Prado for the 145 belt, the second time he has lost to Prado this year. That has gotta hurt. Never less the word is his camp have been working hard on getting ready for this fight, and rumour has it he is fired up and looking for a quick fight.

Blue Corner: Hailing from Japan, 31, Miyata is coming off a win and has a record of 22-13. A very skilled boxer and a master at BJJ, he is a tough test for anyone and can win the fight at any time, from anywhere. His last outing was successful in the form of a decision nod from all judges at GAMMA #548 against Chris Gunn, he will also be fired up and ready for a long fight.

Preview: So here’s the thing. Both of these guys can end fights standing and on the ground, both are highly talented and respected in the MMA world and not surprisingly, they have history. That's right fans, they have met before. Back at GAMMA #497 these two squared off in a mean and gritty contest that went the distance. Stein came out on top convincingly, controlling the fight from the clinch then taking it down to the mat, he couldn't manage to get the submission in the time limit but dominated his opponent none the less. Two steel chin warriors square off, and last time out Miyata felt robbed. He will gain redemption and score a decision win setting up a third epic battle down the line.

#2 - Titus Pullo vs Kieron Radebe - 265+ lbs

Red Corner: The Italian, fighting out of Las Vegas is looking to keep the momentum going after a win over Perrin Aybara at #546. He has an impressive record at 29-4, all but one of those by TKO, amazing stand up ability and a just as good defensive ground game. His opponent is 10cm higher, and 20 pounds heavier, so he has his work cut out for him in this bout.

Blue Corner: The Chief! Twenty five wins with fourteen losses, he is coming off a win at #546 over Jon Pegas by a highlight KO punch early in the second round. I watched that replay like ten times, what a punch! He is a Pom, so don't hold it against him, hailing from London, and now fighting out of Las Vegas. I can't wait for this dude to unleash those fists again, in front of his home town live on pay-per-view!

Preview: These two are virtually even in skill, both veterans, both have very heavy hands and both badly want a win. Radebe is in question here as he has been knocked out 12 times in his career, Pullo has the hands to shake that chin and end this fight. TKO in the second.

#3 - Lars Voller vs Pavel Dubrov - 205 lbs

Red Corner: Proudly representing the Philippines Voller is now fighting out of the heart of MMA, Las Vegas. At 34 years old he has 30 wins to his name, and fifteen losses. On a two fight win stretch at GAMMA #537 and #543 both by unanimous decision. He has unsuccessfully challenged for the GAMMA Light Heavyweight strap once before and failed, you can bet he wants a win badly tonight so he can put himself in line to take on the champ.

Blue Corner: The Bear! Rawr! A tough Russian fighting out of Las Vegas, amassing a record of 24 wins and 13 losses. Also at 34, and is fresh off a KO loss at #546 at the hands of Alexander Emelianenko, he is hungry to turn things around for one last push at the top.

Preview: I expect these guys to stand in the middle of the ring, engage the pocket, and stand smashing each other’s faces in. It should be a bruiser to watch, and could go down as a great fight of 2016. In my opinion, despite the heat and momentum of Voller, Dubrov has the goods to turn things around and take the win in this contest, by decision.

Co-MAIN EVENT - Henry Olonga vs Willy Stoppers - 205 lbs

Red Corner: Zambia will be going nuts, with Olonga hailing from Lusaka you can bet they will be supporting their hometown hero in the co main event. Under the management of Gale Hawthorne and fighting out of Las Vegas, he has had some solid success recently and has managed to pick up two solid victories in a row. Talented in every area with 13 TKO to his name, and has never been tapped, not only that but he can take a very heavy punch and still battle on.

Blue Corner: The Power Willy! I feel very sorry for his opponent. An LA native, now fighting out of Vegas and under management of the legend Mentor Guru Corleone. Coming off a KO loss for the title by Hun, his second failed shot at the belt will have hit his camp hard. Despite that, he looks motivated and ready to start a fresh push.

Preview: The Power Willy will unfortunately be taking a sleep on the canvas after a vicious strike from Olonga. Stoppers chin is in major question, 19 total TKO losses in his career that is a huge stress on his body and mental health. Olonga will put him to the sword and push him closer into retirement, ending the fight by KO in the third.

MAIN EVENT - Viv Richards vs Scotty Bennet - MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

Ladies and gentlemen, it is the time we have all been waiting for, the main event.

He stands 191cm tall and weighs in at 185 pounds, under the management of Mentor Guru Corleone, he is ready, he is hungry, and he wants to vomit! Scotty! Bennet!

Preview: The challenger is on a two win run, he certainly has the skills and experience to make this a very unpleasant fight for the champion, but with ten knock outs in his career I feet Richards power will end this fight early. The Champ is ready for the fight, this will be his fourth defence showing the world the belt belongs around his waist. A fantastic main event title fight, one that will end on the highlight reel with every fan in the stadium on their feet as Richards finishes the challenger in embarrassing style in the first round.

And still Middleweight Champion, Viv Richards.
