LEGACY! 62

PRELIMS

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT: Ffff Ffff (0-0) vs Dsa Dsa (0-0)
HEAVYWEIGHT: Giraldo Costanzo (6-7) vs Leonel Gatti (7-6)
SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT: Jucal Jabneel (5-1-1) vs Vince Dixon (40-35)
SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT: Dave Brown (13-7-1) vs Evan Horizon (19-13)
BANTAMWEIGHT: Arthas Menethil (14-4) vs Matt Smith (13-6)

MAIN CARD

HEAVYWEIGHT: Dante Boudain (11-4-1) vs Culver Crimson (11-4)
Legacy vet and former champion Culver Crimson is riding a two fight losing streak, but is still one of the better heavyweights in the promotion. Much was expected of Dante Boudain after arriving from the CTS promotion where he was a dominant champion, but a first round TKO loss to Ken Halo in his last bout takes a little of that shine away from him. Boudain is a very aggressive kickboxer who doesn’t think twice about dishing out hard kicks to the leg and also loves to go upstairs as well. He owns four wins by head kick and his kicking game is certainly his best attribute. For heavyweights, Culver Crimson is another guy who has no qualms about throwing leg kicks out there. Crimson is primarily a boxer though and is very dangerous in the clinch with his dirty boxing. This fight should stay on the feet as neither guy looks for takedowns at all and it should be the kicking of Dante Boudain versus the very active boxing of Culver Crimson.
LEGACY PREDICTION: BOUDAIN BY DECISION

MIDDLEWEIGHT: Vaas Haas (9-3) vs Rupert Blasts (9-2)
Former Legacy Middleweight champion Rupert Blasts was unable to bounce back after losing his title to Malik Al-Khaldi a couple fights ago. Ed Gennero dropped Blasts with a huge right hand at the end of the first round and that was all she wrote. Vaas Haas is also coming off a title loss to Malik Al-Khaldi in his last fight. Both guys need to string some wins together if they hope to compete for the title again and that makes this fight very pivotal. Haas is an all-around striker who has excellent kickboxing, but also thrives in the clinch with his dirty boxing. Haas is comfortable anywhere the fight takes place and the exact same can be said for Rupert Blasts. Haas has been submitted before and Blasts does have the better ground game in this one, but I doubt he looks to take the fight there. Expect a very fluid kickboxing contest that could go either way. Both fighters have some power in their strikes, but also have the ability to grind out decisions if they realize they don’t have enough power to finish the job.
LEGACY PREDICTION: BLASTS BY DECISION

SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT: Niko Alzate (19-11) vs Wei Pei (32-18-1)
In this battle of behemoths, we have two guys who are both very new to the promotion and needing to make a name for themselves. Niko Alzate is a former champion in the Insanity promotion and is currently 1-1 in Legacy after an impressive first round starching of Rex Tyrannosaurus. Stylistically, Alzate is a nightmare to prepare for because he’s good everywhere and doesn’t mind showcasing it. He’s a solid kickboxer, but he likes taking fights to the floor and when there, he possesses some very underrated jiu-jitsu. Wei Pei is a strike first type of fighter and more of a traditional boxer, but he does have some solid kicks. He also owns all 32 of his wins by knockout, a staggering statistic. It’ll be interesting to see what Alzate does in this fight against such a powerful striker like Pei. He could try to get the fight to the floor, but Wei Pei is no white belt on the ground himself. Still, I would expect to see Alzate shoot at some point early on and see what Pei’s takedown defense is made of.
LEGACY PREDICTION: PEI BY TKO

BANTAMWEIGHT: Geralt of Rivia (15-5) vs Da Skrumbo (21-7)
In our co-main event, we have a very entertaining matchup at 135 pounds. Former Legacy champion Da Skrumbo is looking to bounce back from back-to-back losses against the red hot Geralt of Rivia. After dropping his first couple fights in the promotion, Rivia has won three straight fights, but this is a massive step up in competition. Skrumbo failed to rebound from losing his title in his last fight against William Blake. One should definitely expect the hands to fly early and often in this fight because both guys are no nonsense stand and bang type of fighters. Only five of their combined 48 fights have made it to the judges’ scorecards and I can’t see this fight being any different. Both of these guys are such a breath of fresh air at 135 pounds that it’s no wonder they are co-main eventing this card. Interestingly enough, Rivia has showcased the much better chin over time, but he also hasn’t faced nearly the type of competition that Skrumbo has. This fight will be a war and it’ll come down to who can land the first big shot more than likely.
LEGACY PREDICTION: SKRUMBO BY TKO

HEAVYWEIGHT: Ji Lu (18-6) vs Obelix De Gaul (13-6)
After a trio of impressive TKO wins, Obelix De Gaul is primed for this main event fight against former Legacy Heavyweight champion Ji Lu. Gaul has been on a rampage lately, but this will be his stiffest test yet. Ji Lu is coming off the aforementioned title fight loss to Constantine Kermit. Lu was cut up very badly in that fight and the referee was forced to call the fight in the fourth round due to his cut. These fighters, like most heavyweights, love to throw the big bombs on the feet, but De Gaul has no problems throwing kicks and Lu loves to mix in the occasional takedown to keep his opponent guessing. Gaul will probably be able to stay in this fight if it does hit the ground and Lu should be able to navigate the array of kicks that Gaul will throw. It should all boil down to the fists, like most heavyweight fights do. This fight is a massive one for Obelix De Gaul who could find himself in line for a title shot if he were to upset the former champion here.
