UPF 32: Clegane Vs. De Vries was an event held this past Saturday at the Hard Knocks arena in Hilo by Ultimate Pit Fighting. The event wouldn't go sold out but was a packed house as nearly 2700 people filed in to watch an amazing night of fights, even though there wasn't a championship fight on this card.

Undercard Bout - 265 lb - Simon Eddles (0-0) vs Robert Ur Sons Father" Inurgurl (3-2, 1-1 UPF).

Eddies was making not only his UPF debut but also his professional debut. And, Inurgurl was lucky enough to welcome him into the UPF in a scheduled three 5 minute round bout in the heavyweight division. Eddles wanted to break into the scene in fashion but Robert had other plans. Inurgurl showed Eddles that the UPF isn't a place for the dainty and Eddles will need to step up if he wants to raise through the rankings. Robert started with an immediate takedown into guard, he decided that that was good enough and instead of trying to improve his position he started raining down with the ground and pound. He eventually did jump over to half-guard but didn't need to try to improve any further due to the fact that Eddles wasn't successfully defending and before too much punishment was obtained the ref dove in and saved the overly done Eddles.

Winner - Robert Inurgurl by TKO (Strikes) at 3:29 of round 1.

Undercard Bout - 145 lb - Pablo "Messiah" Escobar (3-2, 0-1 UPF) vs William McDougal (1-6, 1-6 UPF).

McDougal reminds me of the little engine that could. Haha. He finally got his first taste of victory, after 6 straight losses, and couldn't get enough. Escobar, on the other hand, started his career with a three fight win streak. He then lost a few and was looking to get back to his winning ways. Even though Escobar was the more experienced Jui Jitsu fighter, McDougal decided he wanted to fight this one on the ground and scored 5 for 5 takedowns against the BJJ fighter. Once on the mat, Escobar thought he would have his way with McDougal. But, only able to successfully complete 5 transitions, Escobar could not get into a better position on the ground at all. And late in the third, McDougal, a purple belt, forced the brown belt to tap by going for a triangle and transitioning into an armbar. Beautiful submission.

Winner - William McDougal by submission (Armbar) at 3:36 of round 3.

Undercard Bout - 145 lb - Iker "Iker" Dedal (7-9, 2-5 UPF) vs Lennox "Lionheart" Linford (2-0, 0-0 UPF).

Linford, making his UPF debut, seemed a little lost in this fight. I'm not sure what was going through his head but he wasn't in the right place for this bout. In fact, I would even say he looked out of it before the fight started. Dedal saw this and didn't need an invitation. He pounced on Linford like a lion on a wounded prey. Smashing lefts and rights into Linfords face. Only 22 seconds later Dedal would have his hand raised in what was considered the KO of the Night.

Winner - Iker Dedal by KO (Punch) at 0:22 of round 1 - KOotN.

Undercard Bout - 265+ lb - Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2, 2-1 UPF) vs Danny Mc Elroy (0-0).

Mc Elroy was making his debut against the experienced and dangerous Pittsburgh Steelers. Steelers is a beast when it comes to standup fighting, while Mc Elroy hold a distinct advantage in BJJ. The fight was fought on the feet for about the first minute and a half with neither fighter clearly coming out on top. So, Danny decided to change this and took it to the mat, which Steelers was unable to stuff. Steelers knew if he didn't get it back to standing it was only a matter of time before he is tapping out. Mc Elroy did the same move as McDougal and started with a triangle and quickly switched into an armbar and Steelers was forced to tap or have a broken arm. Danny was awarded the Sub of the Night.

Winner - Danny Mc Elroy by submission (Armbar) at 2:30 of round 1 - SotN.

Maincard Bout - 265 lb - Bill Goldberg (5-1, 1-0 UPF) vs Ray Dinkledorff (4-6, 2-4 UPF).

Goldberg wanted to fight this one on the ground, going for a total of 21 takedown attempts. 9 of those were successful, but Dinkledorff managed to get back to his feet 8 times and forced a referee standup. Ray knew that you have to dictate where the fight takes place and knew he had an advantage in clinch, so in the clinch they went. Ray stuck to his gameplan and outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight and eased into decision victory.

Winner - Ray Dinkledorff by decision (Unanimous).

Maincard Bout - 155 lb - Arapeta "The God Of War" Ma Aka (12-6, 3-2 UPF) vs Craig "Bones" Jones (5-3, 0-2 UPF).

Ma Aka knew coming into this fight he had a lot of ground to cover, as Jones is arguably more skilled in every aspect of fighting than Ma Aka. But that didn't phase Ma Aka, he came out strong landing multiple takedowns and controlling his opponent in the first round. I saw the look in Craig's eyes as the first round ended, he had a look that said 'he won't do that again.' The next round was completely opposite as Bones showed his class in the round. Dominating the standup and clinch game. Third was much like the second, until just over 2 minutes into the round when Jones rocked Ma Aka with a nice head shot. It was only a few more seconds before Ma Aka was saved by the ref from Jones.

Winner - Craig Jones by TKO (Strikes) at 2:30 of round 3.

Maincard Bout - 135 lb - Anthony "Showtime" Pettis (10-4, 1-0 UPF) vs "Retarded" Frank Rizzo (2-3, 0-1 UPF).

This fight showed us how versatile Rizzo can be. The fight lasted all three rounds. The first was dominated by Rizzo in the clinch and stand up aspects of MMA. Round 2, Rizzo continued to dominate but this round he did it from the ground. And the final was a decent mix of them all as it went into the clinch, on the ground, and stayed standing, with Rizzo dominating that round as well for an overall domination of his opponent and a much deserved decision victory.

Winner - Frank Rizzo by decision (Unanimous).

Maincard Bout - 145 lb - Cristoff Melkovick (6-2-1, 4-2-1 UPF) vs Crose "The Saint" McCringe (7-4, 0-0 UPF).

McCringe was making his UPF debut in this excellent fight. Melkovick's gameplan coming into this one should have been to keep it standing at all cost, but Cristoff decided otherwise and took the purple belt down despite only having a blue belt. McCringe knew that Melkovick was simply no match for him on the ground and started on his Jui Jitsu game. After 6 submission attempts, Cristoff found himself locked into an Americana and didn't react quick enough and was forced to tap with only one second left in the first round.

Winner - Crose McCringe by submission (Americana) at 4:59 of round 1.

Main Event - 265+ lb - Ozutsu "Yokozuna" Fukumatsu (5-1, 1-0 UPF) vs "No Chin" James McKenna (5-5, 4-5 UPF).

No Chin knew his only chance in this one was to get it to the mat. Unfortunately, that never happened, Fukumatsu stuffed all of McKenna's takedown attempts and had a flawless showing in the clinch. After landing 11 unanswered shots, No Chin's eye were rolling into the back of his head. Stick a fork in him 'cause he's done!

Winner - Ozutsu Fukumatsu by TKO (Strikes) at 1:57 of round 1.

Main Event - 265+ lb - Sandor "The HellHound" Clegane (6-1, 5-1 UPF, former 265+ champ) vs Abe "Jötunn" De Vries (7-2, 4-2 UPF).

Clegane was looking to get back on track and get his title back. De Vries is ready for his title fight but Clegane stands in the way. Clegane has some awesome power but De Vries has an awesome chin too. Clegane was unable to mount that much of an offense. De Vries just outworked, outscored and purely just dominated Clegane in one of the most dominating displays we've seen here in the UPF. Clegane landed a total of 4 punches and 2 combos while De Vries landed 86 strikes in the clinch alone. And an additional 44 strikes from a distance. That 130 to 6. De Vries would walk away after the most dominating display in UPF history with the Fight of the Night honors.

Winner - Abe De Vries - decision (Unanimous) - FotN.

Well that's how UPF 32 when down. It was an amazing night of fights, special thanks to all the fighters that made this event great. Make sure you tune in for next Saturdays event, it features two title fights and an plethora of amazing fighters. Thank for reading. Good Night!
