GAMMA#470 Bennet v Lafontier Review

On 21 March, 2015, Mentor Corleone (3503) the owner of the original GAMMA (Global Association of MMA) Organization, presented the GAMMA#470 Bennet v Lafontier event, for the viewing pleasure of MMA fans around the globe. This event, located at the Wombley Arena here in London, is proudly sponsored by GREEN!160 based in Las Vegas

This event hosted a Title fight at 205 pounds between Scotty Bennet and Charles LaFontier for the Light Heavyweight Championship. This action-packed event had 10 fights resulting in 6 knockouts and 2 decisions with 2 submissions. Rabid Alien here to walk you through the violence. All the head-lumping lip-splitting details can be found at http://www.mmatycoon.com/orgeventpublic.php?EvID=824848

185 lbs fight between Arstan "The Bold" Selmy (196913) and Julio "The Juggernaut" El Toro (180266)

El Toro drags Selmy to the ground and into Selmys guard which seems to be exactly what Selmy wants as he starts working submissions. Seeing El Toro's excellent submission defenses he then takes a reversal and now El Toro is on bottom working submissions. But being such a fair-minded person and getting his submissions attempts stuffed, he reverses and puts Selmy back on bottom for his turn again. But Selmy is unable to get a submission before end of round. Round 2, Selmy throwing strikes and cuts El Toro who responds by getting a double-leg takedown. El Toro throwing strikes and gets caught in a triangle and its OVER!

Results: After 1:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Arstan Selmy!

155 lbs fight between Gennaro "Il Coltello" Gattuso (143909) and Michael Jones (131920)

Interesting fight...Gattuso the ground fighter had more strikes land in the standup than Jones who is a standup fighter. And as expected Gattuso dominated the ground game, so its easy to see why he won the fight.

Results: The 3 judges see the fight slightly different at 29:28/30:28/30:28 in favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Gennaro Gattuso!

265+ lbs fight between Aleksanteri "The Siberian Bear" Karelin (185978) and Billy Bob (181877)

First strike and Karelin cuts Bob who clinches. Karelin takes advantage of that and uses the clinch to hip toss Bob and get a takedown. Bob takes the time on his back as an opportunity to practice his submissions but is unable hold the position and Karelin mounts and starts the beatdown and head slams Bob enough that he taps with seconds left in the round ! WOW that was nasty!

Results: After 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Aleksanteri Karelin!

205 lbs fight between "The Boy Who Lived" Harry Potter (83976) and James "Jimmy" Holmes (151992)

This fight was all Potter who landed almost 80% of his strikes. Which speaks loudly when u realize that as few misses Potter had...he had more misses than Holmes had strikes landed. In the middle of the 1st round Potter rocks Holmes with a right hand and follows up with another right hand that puts Holmes on the mat. Potter follows and is raining shots until the referee jumps in...

Results: After 2:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Harry Potter!

145 lbs fight between Umberto Sotto Jr (184807) and "The Candyman" Willy Wonka (159900)

Wonka with 12 takedown attempts all stuffed and I wonder if thats because he SUCKS at takedowns? Or because Sotto Jr is really good at takedown defense? Either way they ended up on the ground due to Sotto Jr's efforts with 3 out of 4 of his takesdowns being successful. While on the ground both fighters were busy, but it was Wonka who dominated the ground war. It was also Wonka who dominated the standup war...and he even had Sotto Jr rocked by a Wonka elbow...but all for naught when the bell sounds before he can finish Sotto Jr off, and...

Results: All 3 judges see the fight the same at 27:30 in favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Umberto Sotto Jr!

265+ lbs fight between Fat Gorrila (204973) and Kieron "The Chief" Radebe (183758)

Right away Radebe shows the power that earned him 17 KO's out of 18 wins by knocking Gorrila back into the cage. Gorrila manages to get Radebe against the cage and cuts him, but Radebe is using his elite Muay Thai skills in the clinch and getting his own shots in. Gorrila who is also an elite Muay Thai fighter is comfortable in the clinch and they both stay in the clinch where Gorrila is landing 3 or 4 times as many strikes. It isnt long and Gorrila shows his dominate power and rocks Radebe with a left hand, but is unable to put him away before the bell sounds. Round 2, Gorilla knocks Radebe on his butt with the 2nd punch of the round and waves Radebe back to his feet. Radebe is rocked and having done so well in the clinch in the 1st round, Gorrila cliches up before Radebe can get his sh!t together. Radebe seems OK, but before long Gorrila drops Radebe to one knee with an uppercut, but using the cage, Radebe makes it back up to his feet. BIG credit to Radebe who has taken a LOT of big shots, but the barrage from Gorrila is quite accurate and he drops Radebe with a right hook and the referee steps in to stop the beatdown.

Results: After 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Fat Gorrila!

170 lbs fight between Yeshua "I AM" Immanuel (123742) and Alastair Gridlock (160181)

Immanuel stuns Gridlock with a nice body shot to start the fight. Both men are using kicks to slow the other down and maybe catch an early knockout with a head kick and its an excellent fight. Midway through the round Immanuel cut Gridlock with an elbow in the clinch. Immanuel is pretty much punking Gridlock out in the clinch and landing more in the standing. Round2, Gridlock straight to the clinch where Immanuel proceeds to basically administer a beatdown which dont stop until the referee makes it stop !

Results: After 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Yeshua Immanuel!

170 lbs fight between Melvin "Dark Seer" Manhoef (98763) and "Sweet" Doc Chillum (102689)

Chillum takes a quick ass whuppin in the 1st minute where he is knocked down TWICE and cut to add injury to double knockdown. But this Chillum dude is all heart and in the next minute he knocks Manhoef down and rocks him with a right hand. Both men are tough as nails and they fight on to the end of the round. Round 2, Has Manhoef down 1 knockdown which he returns just past the halfway point with a right hand. Letting Chillum get back to his feet Manhoef clinches and unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Chillum's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Chillum drops to his knees and Manhoef pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout! WOW ! That was a BRUTAL fight !

Results: After 2:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Melvin Manhoef!

145 lbs fight between Timofey "Beast" Boyko (151666) and "THE NIGGA WITH ATTITUDE" Alexander Blaze (70417)

Talk about a crowd pleaser...You could hear to roar of pleasure from the crowd every time Boyko landed a good strike on the foul-mouthed ignorantly speaking Blaze who apparently has no fans. Blaze did managed to look alot like a girl as he landed alot of leg kicks and not much else. I got the feeling it was lucky Boyko had his hair cut short or Blaze would of been pulling it. Boyko did a nice job of thumping that arrogant fool again and again and dragged the beating out for 3 rounds before finally making his statement of disapproval in the opening seconds of round 4, and drops Blaze with a right hand and then mounting and raining nasty bombs until the referee stops the fight. The incredible roar of the crowd as the beatdown commenced was incredible and I have never heard such a roar in any fight in my life.

Results: After 0:08 of round 4, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Timofey Boyko!

Now we look at the 205 lbs TITLE fight between "I want to Vomit" Scotty Bennet (167187) and Charles LaFontier (173319) for the vacant Light Heavyweight Championship.

Bennet comes out kicking and then manages to cut LaFontier with a jab. LaFontier seems focused on getting a takedown but is mixing in his strikes nicely and when Bennet misses a body shot he counters with a crisp one two that drops Bennet! LaFontier waves him back to his feet but that turns out to be a big mistake as Bennet shows his big heart by fighting valiantly and landing some nasty body shots which apparently took the wind out of LaFontier's sails and set him up for a monster overhand right that drops LaFontier! Bennet jumps on him and and drops strikes ending the fight. WOW the crowd just loved that!

Results: After 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Scotty Bennet! Scotty Bennet is the new light heavyweight champion!

Well Ladies and Germs was an exciting night and you SHOULD of been here. The intensity of the crowd mirrored the wonderful beatdowns we had tonight and was one of the best events I have attended. This is Rabid Alien saying GOODNIGHT !
