Winds of Change

Editorial by Kc Cooper

Times have changed in the Tycoon community. Long gone are the days of single organization champions, lack of Pay Per Views and public gym relevancy. Becoming more and more prevalent is cooperation among organizations, fighters and managers alike. No longer are the days of Synchronicity, Canadian Fighting Championship and Nordic Fire Championship being the only three companies that the biggest stars fight for. New organizations have risen to compete with these juggernauts.

Rio de Janeiro has long been a hotbed of many of the top fighters in the game and has many great organizations, but in the past none have had the ability to put on the types of events that could compete with the big boys. Not anymore. Mayhem FC has been on the cusp of breaking out and becoming a top company, but had always been missing that one piece. Consider that piece, or pieces, to be Johnny Wonnut and Joshua Donovan. Co-owners of the recently renamed Blitzkrieg: Rio, they have put together some of the best events Rio has ever seen, if not the world.

Having been once been considered the worst city for a fighter to call home, London has made it’s way out of obscurity, and one organization has risen to become the face of London…………Troid. In a little over a year, Troid has become a premier organization and will soon be looked at as home of some of the best mega fights ever. Having held their highest event rating only 3 days ago (as of this writing), Troid will no doubt hold a top three ranking sometime soon.

Once dominated by Eastern Elite Combat and Cult of Violence, New York has turned into one of the most, if not THE most, challenging cities in the tycoon world. With both companies closing their doors this past year (EEC has since re-opened), New York was left without a top company. Lots of shuffling back and forth for the #1 spot in New York took place for several months. It was only recently that one organization has staked its claim to be the top company in New York: Ultimate Proving Ground. Recently having the former #7 pound for pound fighter Thunder Struck fighting ultra talented, but vastly underrated, Forever War, Ultimate Proving Ground is showing the rest of New York how it should be done.

With so much change happening around the Tycoon world over this past year, 2012 could perhaps be the biggest year for MMA Tycoon ever. Can the top companies withstand this barrage of new talent, or will someone be able to pass the “untouchables”?………….only time will tell.
