265 title final

Event Preview: Barbarian 265lbs Final
Barbarian Fight Club (ID 230K+)
2014-03-12, Rio de Janeiro, The Underground - Rio
Author:Tony Rossi

We are down to out last tournament final at it is of course at Heavyweight. In the title fight tonight we have Tyson versus Gatti which should be a great match up. Mr. Fernandes has also put together nine fights to complement this great main event. Before we get into the fights I would like to say congratulations to Christopher Newton for winning the Welterweight title. I had him pegged from the beginning and he certainly didn’t disappoint me. Also I have to give a quick thank you to MANGO nutrition for sponsoring all of our events.

Preliminary Bout Number 1- Heavyweight Fight (265lbs)

Andy "Black Dragon" Machida (2-0) {1-0} versus Antonio Ignascio Erazo (2-1) {1-1}

This is a rematch from the twos clash on 2-19 from Barbarian Tournament 205lbs. Machida won the fight in the first round with a submission and he will be looking to do the same thing in this one. Machida was one of five on takedown attempts and once it was on the ground he went for eleven submissions. He did get the Armbar on at 3:58 of the first round. If Erazo wants to win this he needs to make sure Machida pays for his takedown attempts. He should be looking to land a bunch of leg kicks and mix in some other strikes to keep Erazo off balance. Every takedown attempt needs to be matched with a counter strike and sprawl if needed. I think Erazo will be able to survive a little longer but I do not think he will be able to win. I have Machida winning by submission in the second round.

Preliminary Bout Number 2- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Daeron "Killer" Inglorion (4-1) {3-1} versus Pedro Couture (3-2) {1-2}

Daeron was on a roll until he ran into the submission machine Aderbal Maia. Maia was able to submit him near the four minute mark in their tournament fight. That loss to Maia is the only loss on Daeron’s record and I am sure he wants to keep it that way for a while to come. To win this fight he will need to get Couture to the ground where he can over whelm him. Couture will obviously not want to go to the ground with a brown belt, but if he can keep it standing well then look out. Couture is head and shoulders above Daeron in striking. If this fight is 40 percent stand up that means Couture won. I don’t think Couture keeps it standing so I am picking Daeron to win by submission in the first round.

Preliminary Bout Number 3- Middleweight Fight (185lbs)

Aviya Sherman (2-0) {2-0} versus Guilherme "Pantera" Ferreira (2-1) {0-0}

Sherman has been amazing in his short career. The nineteen year old is two and zero with both of his wins coming by way of submission. He has a brown belt and he knows how to use it, he submitted his first opponent in the first round and his second in under a minute of the second round. Ferreira has yet to fight someone as good as Sherman and that will put him at a disadvantage. This Muay Thai striker will want to keep it standing where he will have a clear cut advantage but since he has yet to finish an opponent I think the fight will linger long enough for Sherman to get the take down. I have Sherman winning by submission in the second round.

Preliminary Bout Number 4- Welterweight Fight (170lbs)

Renato Fernandez (3-1) {3-1} versus Wojciech "Wolnorynkowiec" Cejrowski (1-1) {0-1}

Fernandez should be happy he hasa new opponent. This will be his fifth fight, but only his third opponent so far. He is three and one defeating Rodrigo Ribeiro twice and going one and one with Janusz Wiesiek. Fernandez will need to capitalize on the ground game to win this fight. I think he can and will be out struck in this one but he certainly can win with some ground and pound. Cejrowski as I said is the better striker and he will look to box with Fernandez. We seen how badly he was dominated by Clare who is a ground specialist and I Think Fernandez needs to try and capitalize on that.

Preliminary Bout Number 5- Lightweight Fight (155lbs)

Genki Sudo (2-2) {1-2} versus Rener "Anaconda" Figuera (1-0) {0-0}

Sudo was not ready to take on the top talent in the lightweight division as he took back to back losses to Kores Sierra and Zachery White. Sudo know finds himself back on the undercard taking on new comers. He will be challenged heavily though as Figuera looked great in his first fight. He joins the BFC with a one and zero record with his win coming by way of submission at just forty four second of the first round. I don’t think either of these guys will be able to submit the other, so I am thinking this one is going to the judges. I would put my money on Sudo to pick up a very close win.

Main Card Bout Number 1- Bantamweight Fight (135lbs)

Conor "Notorious" Mcgregor (1-0) {0-0} versus "Mau_Mau" Matheus Peixoto (2-2) {1-1}

Mcgregor will be making his debut in Barbarian Fight Club after winning his first and only professional fight. He got that win in less than two minutes of the first round by TKO. Conor displayed great striking ability while in the clinch. Conor will have to be careful in this fight going into the clinch as he will need to defend being pulled into guard. Peixoto is a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and that’s his go to style. He has won two fights professionally and both of those wins came by submission so he knows his stuff. This will be a close fight and it comes down to can Peixoto get the fight to the ground, and I don’t think he will be able to. I am going to pick Conor Mcgregor to win in the second round by TKO.

Main Card Bout Number 2- Super Heavyweight Fight (265+)

Royler Gracie (2-0) {1-0} versus Antonio "Minotauro" Nogueira (1-1) {0-1}

This is a rematch from Barbarian FC 7 a little over a month ago. Gracie got the win by just dominating the fight. He was unable to finish Nogueira which is amazing in its self with how amazing Gracie was. I don’t see how this little of time Antonio will be able to put on a better performance. I think we see a very similar fight to the last one only this rime I think Gracie gets the win by submission in  the third round.

Main Card Bout Number 3- Middleweight Fight (185lbs)

Dan Stall (0-0) {0-0} versus Tage Holm (1-0) {1-0}

I love young fighters that have a promising future. This fight has two of them and it makes it that much more special. Dan Stall got into training for a professional career in MMA at the age of sixteen and now that he is seventeen he thinks it’s time to make his debut. He is managed by Jacob What owner of Meet the Future in Helsinki so we all know he is going about the training correctly and he is really ready to swim to the deep end. There is no book on Stall so I have no clue what his game plan is or how to go about game planning on him. Holm is one and zero and this eighteen year old got his debuting win at Barbarian Tournament 155lbs. He won the fight by decision as he looked to counter a lot, he seemed he just wanted to score the rounds. The lack of the killer instinct might cost him a few fights in the future. This is a tough one to pick because all of the question marks with Stall. You know what I am going to pick Stall to win by TKO in the second round, no idea why it just was the first thing that popped into my head.

Co Main Event Main Card Bout Number 4- Lightweight Fight (155lbs)

Steven "El Terrible" Perkins (0-2) {0-1} versus Shingo Yabuki (0-2) {0-1}

This is an interesting co main event. Perkins and Yabuki are both o and two for their careers and o and one in the BFC. Perkins will need to use his boxing since we have seen Shingo get knocked out before. I would think Perkins will need to go at him quick and try to over whelm him. Shingo would like to get off the losing path and to do that he will need to cover up and try to out box Perkins. He will need to go with counter strikes to protect that chin. Even though Shingo is the better puncher I think Perkins wins this on chin alone. I got Perkins by TKO in the first round.

Main Event Main Card Bout Number 5- Heavyweight Title Fight (265lbs)

Rodrigo "One Hit Ko" Tyson (5-2) {3-1} versus Arturo "Thunder" Gatti (3-2) {3-1}

Tyson is a dangerous fighter who just goes for it all the time. He is one of those punchers chance kind of a guy. Rodrigo will certainly be looking to strike with Gatti and if Gatti wants to go blow for blow I think he will be in some big trouble. All five of Tyson’s wins have come by knockout in the first round. Gatti can also knock some people’s teeth out but he prefers to do it on the ground. Gatti is a tremendous wrestler who will be looking to put Tyson on his back. If he can get Tyson there it will certainly be lights out. Gatti was overwhelmed in their last fight as he lost in eleven seconds or something like that. Tyson landed only three punches and Gatti was done, so I think Gatti will be more urgent about getting this fight to the ground. I don’t think he can get Tyson off his feet though and I am picking Tyson to win in under a minute by knockout.

Man that is going to be one hell of a clash for that Heavyweight title. Stall versus Holm is still the fight I want to see most though. I know Stall is a future star but Holm could be one as well. SO there you have it BFC fans that is all of your tournaments. Our next event preview we will be back on track with BFC 8.
