TJ Heisman (8-5) Vs Michael Porter (0-0) – Heavyweight Superfight

In the main event of the evening, we see two very talented mixed martial artists go toe to toe in what is being billed as a ‘Superfight’.

TJ Heisman has 13 fights under his belt, and is alumni is the prestigious Immortals New York promotion. ‘The Slayer’ fought in his homeland of America until 2013, and since has had a brief tour of London before settling down in St Petersburg.  Heisman is an all-round stand up master, and will be looking to land some punches to the head, mix in some low kicks, and perhaps break his opponent down inside the clinch. With a brown belt in BJJ, Heisman isn’t weak on the floor either, and getting him there will be a big ask for anyone as a result of his high level wrestling pedigree. Heisman is coming off a 4th round victory in his last fight, but sustained a bad cut which kept him out of the gym for quite some time. It will be interesting to see if he is able to perform to the best of his abilities, knowing that he has a weak spot for his opponent to target.

His 0-0 record doesn’t give any account of the martial arts abilities that Michael Proctor holds. Proctor is a tremendous boxer, and has been training for his MMA debut for a long time. All across the board, Proctor is an exciting fighter and prospect in the MMA world, and will be looking to capture some gold in a major promotion in no time. In Lions Share, Proctor wants to begin his professional fighting career, and has what, on paper, could be the perfect opponent to fight against. His promoter, Central Park Wigan, is an extremely experienced manager, who handles some of the best fighters in some of the best companies on the planet. Proctor seems destined for greatness, but an L on his record from the get go is not how his story is meant to go.

This fight should be a striking exchange. Heisman would be smart to try and control the clinch, but I think he’ll want to prove that he can knock even the most formidable striker out. This is hard to call as we don’t know how Proctor will handle certain situations, so I’ll take a pass on a prediction. This should be a fantastic fight whoever wins.

Sayan Sever (6-2) Vs Maxim Sebriakov (3-0) – Heavyweight GP Quarter Final

Both of these men made their Lions Share debuts at LS 1.

Sayan Sever took on Billy Aziz. Just seconds into the fight, Sever was dropped, and looked set for a loss to the superior boxer. At the end of the first round, he managed to take the fight to the floor, and finished with a Kimura submission which earned him a FOTN post-fight bonus. Sever came in as potentially the favourite to win the entire competition, but in being put down instantly, some fighters might be able to give him some trouble. It’s also notable that his opponent was a Golden Gloves boxing competitor, so perhaps the damage was forgivable.

While Sever faced some adversary in his fight, things couldn’t have been more different for Sebriakov. The Russian native took a few light shots early, but then closed the distance, got the clinch, took the fight to the floor and finished with an armbar submission. Maxim is now 3-0 in his mixed martial arts career, finishing all of his opponents by submission in under 4 minutes. His ability to avoid punches might be a problem for him if he steps in against a big puncher, but his BJJ game will always strike fear in his opponent’s hearts.

This is a very interesting contest. Sever is a better wrestler, and will likely be able to take the fight to the ground without too much effort. Sebriakov will welcome this, as he’s considered to be the greatest Jiu Jitsu fighter, although not by much. This is a complete toss up. When both are submission experts, and both have finished every victory by submission, what is there to split? The only thing I can pick out is that Sever has been submitted twice himself, so his offence is a lot more to his focus. This would leave him opened on the top, which is why I predict the fight the way I do.

Prediction – Sebriakov by Submission

Evgeny Tarasov (3-0) Vs Tarec Malkovic (1-0) – Heavyweight GP Quarter Final

Evgeny is a specialist at obtaining stoppages, and has done so in all 3 of his pro MMA fights. At LS 1, he defeated Vasile Crudu with a dominant stand up performance. Tarasov isn’t looking to grapple on the floor, and doesn’t just wing in with big knockout shots. He is calm and collected, lands accurate strikes on his opponent, and when the time comes, he can finish a fight like no one else. One of 4 Quarter Finalists from Viktor Grigoriev, Tarasov will want to keep his team on winning ways and maintain the 4 fighter’s undefeated streaks.

Malkovic is yet another of Lions Share MMA owner Callum McGregor’s fighters, and comes into this fight off of his pro debut where he defeated Karl Karleon by unanimous decision. The fight was uninteresting for the most part, and came down to who had the better wrestling. Despite Karleon being the more active, the Belarusian amateur wrestling champion managed to pull off the victory and move into the Quarter Finals. Malkovic doesn’t want any of Tarasov on the feet, and the goal in this fight is to get it to the floor, and fast.

A good striker Vs grappler match up, but I feel one will be a clear favourite. Tarasov got taken down at the end of the round Vs Crudu, but for the majority of his career has been able to keep the fight standing. He will be a major threat to Malkovic on the feet, while Tarec will be looking to grind his opponent out to a unanimous decision. With each round starting in the upright position, I think it’s only a matter of time before we see the finish.

Prediction – Tarasov by (T)KO

--------------------

Dmitry Gromov (3-0) Vs Hamish Macintosh (1-0) – Heavyweight GP Quarter Final

Gromov brings the best ground and pound we’ve seen inside the LS cage, and is one of the better wrestlers too. All 3 of his opponents have been defeated by strikes on the floor, and we are yet to see the 25 year old Russian put through the paces. His brother, former amateur boxer Vitaliy, recently signed to Lions Share also, so it will be good to see if the two can put their family name on the man and gain some notoriety in the Russian MMA scene.

Hamish Macintosh, Highland Games caber toss champion, relied on brute force to dispose of his opponent to qualify for the Heavyweight Grand Prix Quarter Finals. The impression he left on his opponent strung so bad, that Larry Alexander has officially retired from active competition. Macintosh knocked Alexander down twice in a brutal display, before putting his lights out before the second round.

This fight will be entirely decided upon the takedown defence of Macintosh. On the feet, he is a natural, and is expected to completely dominate Gromov. If Dmitry can take the fight to the mat, Macintosh will be a fish out of water, and will have nowhere to hide as shots reign down. Based on his background, I think Macintosh can keep this one vertical, and go in hunt of a stoppage victory.

Prediction – Macintosh by (T)KO

--------------------

Grigoriy Skobolev (2-0) Vs Lukas Zimmer (1-0) – Heavyweight GP Quarter Final

Skobolev took the Knockout of the Night bonus at LS 1 when he dispatched Giro Grubaneiro with a big knee and punches to follow up. This kind of statement put his name on the map, and opponents will be in fear of his lethal Muay Thai striking if they stand across the cage from him. Skobolev will look to use his kicks to keep the range, keeping them low for the most part. He wants to chop away at the legs, before switching it up and landing a vicious head kick to earn him a road to the Semi Finals.

The man standing in his way is Lukas Zimmer. The German 20 year old was training to become a lawyer just a year ago, but life has gave him a different path, and now he chases MMA gold. Like his opponent, Zimmer is a Muay Thai kickboxer, but he will want to pop his jab and land some counters in there as well. This could open him up, but it also makes her a less 2 dimensional fighter than his foe. After a knockout inside the second minute of his Round 1 fight, Zimmer wants to allow lightning to strike twice.

Really, I just can’t call this one. Both are so similar fighters that I have to leave it down the middle. Should be a great fight.

--------------------

Holla Holla (1-1) Vs Viktor Grozny (1-0) - Heavyweight GP Alternate

Holla bounced back from a submission defeat to Maxim Sebriakov with an easy victory over Anderi Bragov in the same manner. An arm triangle choke before the first minute was an impressive step into the division, and this could secure him a Semi Final spot if a competitor has to pull out.

Grozny won Submission of the Night after taking a lot of punishment in his MMA debut. His opponent, Rocky Barboa, took him down and landed some heavy ground and pound. With just seconds to go in the fight, Grozny pulled off an armbar for the win.

Holly should be able to take this down quick, but with a submission loss on his record, I have to edge his opponent.

Prediction – Grozny by Submission

--------------------

jj Nate (1-0) Vs Matthew Porter (4-0) - Middleweight Fight

Prediction – Porter by (T)KO

Jessie Hollaway (0-1) Vs Gregor Antonik (0-1) - Heavyweight Fight

Prediction – Antonik by Submission

Tanaka Yahidra (0-0) Vs Rory Joaquin (3-6) - Light Heavyweight Fight

Prediction – Joaquin by Submission

Mike Reid (0-0) Vs Dude Love (0-0) - Heavyweight Fight

Prediction – Love by Submission
