Barbarian Fight Time-4 event preview

Event Preview: Barbarian Fight Time 4
Barbarian Fight Club (ID 230K+)
2014-02-05, Rio de Janeiro, The Underground - Rio
Author:Tony Rossi

Live from The Underground in Rio de Janeiro Brazil on Wednesday February 5th Barbarian Fight Club and MANGO nutrition presents Barbarian Fight Time 4. Now this is not a huge mega event like we are used to seeing from Barbarian Fight Club on their Wednesday show, but never the less it will be a great event. Now this match line up does feature four Lightweight fights, and as everyone knows that will be the first title tournament for Barbarian Fight Club so it is a very big deal. All of the Lightweights now have a goal, and that is to get into position to get a shot at the BFC Lightweight title. This event certainly will shake up the 155 pound division.

Preliminary Bout Number 1- Welterweight Fight (170lbs)

Ramiro "Superman" Cienfuegos (0-3) {0-2} versus Daniel "Bjj" Selby (1-1) {0-1}

Ramiro has not had the best start to his career and he will be looking to change that. Starting off with three losses is a tuff pill for anyone to swallow. Key to not taking a fourth loss keep this fight standing. Ramiro has been submitted twice so he knows what is in store for him if these two hit the mat. Obviously Selby has seen his opponent tap out twice and that has to be music to his ear. The purple belt will want to get this fight to the ground as soon as possible. He should come out aggressively looking to shoot the double and wrap this fight up quick. I see Selby winning this fight with ease by submission in the first round.

Preliminary Bout Number 2- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Vaan "The Fliying Man" Birdwing (2-0) {1-0} versus Alberto Khan (1-1) {0-0}

Birdwing had a very impressive debut in Barbarian Fight Club with a huge head kick knock out which won him the Knockout of the Night award. He is obviously a good Muay Thai striker and he will need to show that off in this fight. Khan is a wrestler so obviously the kicks will slow down the takedown attempts. Once Khan does get the fight to the ground he mixes it up very well. He will look to strike but if you leave a limb out he will have no problem snatching it. The problem is actually getting the fight to the floor. In his last fight he took a loss because he could not score the takedown. Birdwing does have a little wrestling training and I think that will be enough for him to keep the fight standing, and get a knockout win. I will guess Birdwing gets the win in the first round via head kick.

Preliminary Bout Number 3- Lightweight Fight (155lbs)

Justin "The Arrow" Cruz (1-1) {1-1} versus Decon Green (3-0) {2-0}

In his last fight Cruz got to taste victory with a second round head kick knockout. He showed us what a truly great striker he was by completely dominating Ronaldo Moura. Cruz did struggle when he faced off against a good grappler as he was quickly submitted in his first fight. He could be in trouble in this one since he will need to bring an a game on the ground. Decon Green is a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and he loves to grapple. In his short career Green has won all three of his fights by submission. Truly a great submissionest Green will be looking to take this fight to the ground where he feels comfortable. I think Green will pull out this victory by way of submission in the first round.

Preliminary Bout Number 4- Middleweight Fight (185lbs)

Damian "Dami" Silva (2-1) {1-1} versus Cicero "Pega Leve" Santos (2-2) {0-0}

Silva is a wrestler and a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu who has won two of his three fights, both by submission. I feel he lost his only fight because his opponent was just a little more aggressive. Silva wants the fight on the ground, and he will stop at nothing to get it there. Once on the ground he is a little more conservative, and he likes to be in the right position before going for a submission. Santos is also a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fighter currently holding a brown belt. Santos is also conservative on the ground, and he is more of a point grappler than a submission spechilist. This is going to be a hard fought wrestling match, and I am going to go with the older fighter in this one. I have Damian Silva winning by decision in this Middleweight showdown.

Preliminary Bout Number 5- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Nego "Café" Dobom (3-0) {2-0} versus Floyd "Money" Mayweather (2-2) {1-1}

Dobom has shown us how well versatile he is. In his BFC debut he was able to out wrestle and then submit his opponent. His second fight Café came flying out looking to show off his Muay Thai skills and that is exactly what he did.  He was able to mix his strikes up well and dominated the fight on route to a decision victory. Floyd Mayweather is a pure striker who loves to work from the clinch. He has boxing and Muay Thai training so the clinch feels natural to him. He will be looking to clinch in this one, but he may want to stay away from being overly aggressive as Nego can work the clinch well, or go for the takedown. I think Nego Café Dobom has too many weapons in this one and I will predict he wins the fight by decision.

Main Card Bout Number 1- Lightweight Fight (155lbs)

Jose "Shaker" Ribeiro (1-0) {0-0} versus Roberto "Jaguar" Nascimento (1-1) {1-0}

Jose Ribeiro is a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and his only win was by submission. He got that submission victory in his only fight in less than two minutes and it was against a fellow submission fighter. In his next match up he will be facing a striker so the only question is can he get the takedown. Roberto Nascimento is a Muay Thai striker who likes to clinch or strike from a distance. He is one and one and his only loss came via submission. He lost the fight after being pulled into guard from the clich, so he should look to avoid clinching with Ribeiro. I think Ribeiro will get the win in this fight by way a of submission in the first round.

Main Card Bout Number 2- Middleweight Fight (185lbs)

Bob "Ghost Face" Dutra (1-0) {0-0} versus Roberts "White Bear" Junior (1-1) {1-0}

We can label this fight the battle of the brown belts. Both of these guys are Brazilian Jiu Jitsu brown belts with wrestling back rounds. Both of their wins have come by submission in less than one minute. This could be the most evenly matched up fight ever. It is incredibly hard to break this one down as not only their skill sets similar but their styles are almost identical. Both fighters are aggressive from the top position and really good from their backs. Also both of these guys have no stand up game at all. My bet is someone is winning by submission in the first round. I will flip a coin and it is heads so I will say Dutra will win this fight.

Main Card Bout Number 3- Lightweight Fight (155lbs)

Patryck "O Fisico" Mendes (6-3) {1-2} versus Jason "Twister" Jones (1-0) {0-0}

Mendes came to Barbarian Fight Club with a five and one record and a very impressive skill set. It appeared that he was going to be the premier fighter in the Lightweight division. On the very first event Mendes made his debut with a submission victory in the first round. Since then it has been all downhill for Patryck as he lost his next two fights. One by submission and the other to a knockout specialist that he let up off the mat. Now he is facing a better submission fighter and I have no idea what he should do. For Jones he should pretty much go with the flow, and we know Mendes tends to make a lot of mistakes and we know he can be submitted even if he holds dominate position. I have Jason Jones winning this fight by way of submission in the first round.

Co Main Event, Main Card Bout Number 4- Light Heavyweight Fight (205lbs)

Jhon "Dragon" Machida (1-0) {0-0} versus Chembakwu "Tiger" Azuibike (1-1) {0-1}

This will be your classic striker versus grappler in this one. Machida is a twenty five year old Brazilian native that holds a brown belt in the famed Brazilian Jiu Jitsu art. He also has a back round in wrestling which should help him get the fight to the ground. In his only fight Jhon was extremely aggressive with his takedown attempts and once he got it be became more aggressive on the ground. Just a minute later and Machida had his hand raised in victory after an armbar. Chembakwu is a Muay Thai striker who should look to stay away from the ground. He is known for taking his opponents down because he doesn’t mind point grappling. In this one he needs to stay completely off the mat, I don’t care how he just needs to make sure it does not hit the floor. If this fight stays standing I don’t see how Machida could come close to winning, but I think someone will go for a takedown and Machida will get the submission in the first round.

Main Event, Main Card Bout Number 5- Heavyweight Fight (265lbs)

Arturo "Thunder" Gatti (2-1) {2-0} versus Rodrigo "One Hit Ko" Tyson (3-2) {1-1}

Gatti is a great ground and pound fighter and if he keeps getting fed stand up strikers it may be a long time before he loses again. His only loss came against a submission fighter who has an obvious advantage over the ground and pound or lay and prays style fighters. Gatti will want to get this fight to the mat quick though because of the power of Tyson.  Tyson is a heavy handed striker who will be looking to lay out Gatti quick. In his last fight Rodrigo landed a beautiful spinning back fist to win his fight by knockout. Now holding a one and one record in Barbarian Fight Club Tyson wants to climb the ranks. Tyson sits fourth on the list for Heavyweights and a win should push him to two or three, but a loss could send him out of the top four. I think Gatti will win this fight, he will outlast the early barrage and get the takedown so he can pound his way to victory in the first round.
