Extreme MMA is back, and E-MMA04 promises to be yet another exciting night of t another MA04high class fights. Tomorrow’s card will be fireworks from the first fight on the undercard, to the amazing middleweight title match as the main event! You will definitely be on the edge of your seat from the first touch of the gloves to the lights going out. Here is the run-down on what you can expect from E-MMA04.

Middleweight - Frans Hougard vs Johan Van Staden
What a way to start off a great fight card. Both fighters have serious power and stand-up skills. Hougard is a very well rounded fighter, with outstanding stand-up and grappling technique. The brown belt is certainly not afraid of the fight hitting the canvas, however he will be looking to stand and bang. Johan Van Staden is a great striker, who has been unlucky in his early career fights. He certainly possesses the power to finish a fight, but his grappling is almost non-existent at this point. He definitely needs to work at rounding out his game before he turns his career round. I think Hougard takes the fight, he can finish where ever the fight ends up.

Heavyweight – Oscar Meyer vs Baldomir Zsofka
The second fight of the night is an intriguing one. Meyer is making is professional MMA debut and Zsofka is a seasoned, 30 year old veteran. Meyer is a good clinch fighter, with strong muay thai and wrestling. His jiu jitsu is still in the early days of development, however we are obviously yet to see how well he can defend or attack on the ground. Meyer will certainly have his work cut out for him against Zsofka, who is a very strong fighter both standing and grappling. His grappling is his major strong point, with 6 of his 15 wins coming via submission. He has remarkable wrestling, which he combines with his brown belt level jiu jitsu skill to impose his will on the ground. If Zsofka can avoid taking big shots, Meyer has his work cut out for him. I personally feel that Zsofka’s experience and possibly better skill set will allow him to get the win.

Heavyweight – Rory Howland vs Jason Mans
This fight should be interesting, as we welcome two new professional MMA fighters to Extreme MMA. Both fighters are coming in to the fight as rookies, both possess a good skill set but they will both be nervous when it comes down to touching gloves and exchanging strikes. Howland and Mans are both very similar in size, which when combined with an almost exact level of skills should make for an incredibly close fight. Should be a great matchup, here is hoping that both fighters perform well on their debut and can keep it up in the future.

Middleweight – Fred Shudley vs Peter Tahuna
The main thing I want to emphasise about this fight is that it will definitely not go the distance. Both Shudley and Tahuna are purebred stand-up brawlers. They could both easily make it as kickboxers. Shudley hasn’t really had his chin tested yet, whereas Tahuna has been knocked out before. That is part of the game though when you put it all on the line like these to warrior do. I can’t decide who wins, but I don’t think it will make it out of the first round, and it will end up with one man out cold on the canvas.

Middleweight – Vivian Peters vs Gary Potgieter
The first main card fight of the evening, and it will be a wild one. Peters is a very strong wrestler who can smash his way through opponents with strong ground and pound. Potgieter is a strong muay thai striker with a good grappling ability. Usually I would say that he could be very dangerous, but he looked absolutely worn out at the weigh-ins yesterday. His stamina could be way down, which against a strong wrestler could spell the end for him. I think Peters takes this, and wouldn’t be surprised to see a finish.

Middleweight - Steven Smith vs Mouritz Opperman
Smith vs Opperman should be an interesting fight. Well, it would be if Smith wasn’t visibly drained at the weigh-ins. Normally Smith’s great muay thai and good ground skills would be a real test for Opperman. But now, I can’t see Smith being able to last against Opperman’s powerful striking and great wrestling ability.  I think Opperman takes this, and climbs the middleweight ladder even further.

Middleweight – Telly Savalas vs Quentin Pelser
This will be a great fight. Savalas is a dangerous striker, with a 16 second knockout on his record and some of the most dangerous hands in Extreme MMA. Pelser is a very good striker with good wrestling, and has yet to lose in his 3 fights. All three of his fights have been decision wins, but have been dominant in nature. He is looking to keep the streak going and keep going for a title shot. The only issue he has is that he’s visibly gassed from his training camp, as he has been training harder than ever for Savalas. I think this will be a very close fight, and it all depends on whether Savalas can land one of his stone hands or whether Pelser can keep his cardio up and not get gassed.

Middleweight – Richard Price vs Shaun White
This is the redemption fight for both men. In their last fight, both men were finished very fast into the first round, which we could all see really visibly hurt both fighters. They both promised to come back stronger and better than ever and here we have it. Price is a very strong purple belt jiu jitsu fighter with strong wrestling. He can win the fight via submission or by dominant wrestling. White on the other hand is unbelievable at finishing fights. Not one of his three fights has made it out of the first minute of the first round. He has an armbar victory after 31 seconds and a TKO win in 28 seconds. His one loss was devastating for him, a 5 second TKO loss. This is his time to come back from that. I think this will be a great fight, with both men truly willing to put it all on the line to get the win and get back on track.

Middleweight – Jahn Bloom vs Jakes Snakes
This is a classic striker vs grappler matchup. Snakes is a classic, stand and bang brawler. He goes out to the cage with bad intentions every time he puts the gloves on. He can certainly end a fight, as shown in his last fight against Telly Savalas which won him knockout of the night. Bloom on the other hand is a very strong grappler with both his 2 wins coming via submission. This fight will be great. It will be interesting to see who can execute their game plan and take away their opponents strengths.

Main Event! Middleweight title fight – Abe Cooper vs Glyn Lennox
And now we get to the main event of the evening, and what a fight this will be. This is a big moment in the careers of both fighters and Extreme MMA as an organisation. Both fighters are coming into the fight undefeated, and they are both putting that on the line for the ultimate prize of the championship belt. Cooper is a very strong grappler, and has finished all his fights via submission in the first round. He is definitely a crazy fighter when it comes to the ground game. If he can take Lennox down it could very well be game over. Lennox will be dead against that though, and his wrestling skills are strong enough to stop that from happening. He can dominate a fight in the clinch and on the ground, as his muay thai skills are very strong. His striking is also extremely scary. His last fight was over in just 5 seconds after a devastating headkick sent Shaun White to the mat without realising what had happened. This fight should be fireworks from the get go, and I am definitely excited to see what happens. This fight alone should be worth the price of the ticket!
This card will be one to watch, and is history in the making for Extreme MMA with the first title being awarded, as well as some unbelievable fights which should have some amazing highlight reel moments.
