Fallen Champions

Author:Jonah King

Hello fight fans, Merlin here bringing you a Super weight preview of Fallen Champions XXVII! We have the first Title Defense of newly crowned Super Heavyweight Jim Dandy against the undefeated KO artist Cyrus the Virus! Plus we have a number one contender fight for the 135lb Crown pitting Lance Stevens and VJ Kiwi! Well lets get this started......

155lbs-Nate Tua(2-6)(1-4)vsJavier Esteban(0-8)(0-6)-Esteban by UD

265lbs-Daniel Cormier(2-5)(2-4)vs Staale Dal(0-9)(0-4)-Dal by (t)KO

265lbs+-Somchai Lawanmali(0-2)(0-1)vsHuey Freeman(0-0)(0-0)-Freeman by Sub in the 2nd Rd

265lbs-King McQueen(2-0)(0-0)vsIceman Jones(1-0)(1-0)-McQueen by Sub in the 1st Rd

205lbs-Thomas Engine(1-4)(1-3)vsDuke Hernandez(0-0)(0-0)-Hernandez by UD

145lbs-#7.Ian"The Bull"Langley(6-1)(1-0)vs#8.Wing Wang(3-1)(1-0)

Ian Langley is coming off his successful Fallen Champions debut with a Submission of the Night performance back at FC XXII. He has an ever improving ground game, and shows alot of heart and determination when he enters into battle. He show has some descent elbows and strikes once he gets his opponent down, and can lock up a submission if they leave him an opening. His opponent Wing Wang was also successful in his promotional debut, showing off his fast hands and power winning by tko late in the 2nd Rd. He has showed some weakness facing a pure grappler as his only loss was by submission, so hopefully he has been working on his wrestling and defensive grappling. Wang likes to throw alot of wild combinations, Ian should be able to counter takedown and get the fight to his world. I see this one ending by submission in the 1st Rd with Langley's hand being raised!

170lbs-Bill"Boom Boy"Penn(4-4)(0-3)vs#9.Kenji "The Submissonist" Ling(3-1)(1-0)

Bill Penn started his career off in the QFC with an impressive 4-1 record, but since entering into Fallen Champions has lost all 3 of his fights. He desparately needs to keep a win here to get himself back into the top 10, and to keep his dream of becoming a Champion alive. Ironically all 8 of Penn's fights have ended in a submission, if thats not a perfect example of living and dying by the sword, I don't know what is. Standing across the ring for him will be the very highly praised prospect Kenji Ling, who needs a win over a very game veteran to let everybody know that all the talk isn't just hype. He lives up to his nickname "The Submissonist" coming in on a 3 fight win streak with all of them being by submission. He started his MMA career after a long grappling career, so some say that some of his best years could have been wasted in earning that high level brown belt! I think that Ling will show that he has the right skillset, and if he can continue to avoid much damage in his fights he could be around for a long time.

145lbs-#5.Steven Stark(4-0)(3-0)vs#10.Eric Northman(1-0)(0-0)

Steven Stark is on the fast track through the 145lb division, and a win in this contest will put him right into the title picture. He has a very slick ground game being able to land his transitions 70% of the time, and landing almost 80% of his ground n pound strikes. And with him being able to land almost 70% of his takedowns he is more than a hand full for his opponent. Eric Northman is making his Fallen Champions debut, and his first real test in his short career. He has some impressive striking and clinch Muay Thai, which he showed off his first fight which didn't last much over a minute. He is a very atheletic specimen of a man, and that allows him to be able to land his strikes at almost win. If Northman is able to stuff a few of Stark's takedowns, without sacrificing his agressive style he may be able to test his opponents chin. I think that Steven's wrestling and experience will be too much for Northman, and he'll get the fight to the mat and finish him with strikes.

135lbs-#1.Lance Stevens(7-3)(4-2)vs#3.VJ"Kool"Kiwi(6-3-1)(2-0)

This is our Co Main Event of the evening, and it will be a battle of top three 135lbers and future title hopefuls. This will be Lance Stevens 2nd fight at 135lbs after deciding that 145lbs wasn't for him, and is one win away from another title shot. He is a very confident fighter and likes to throw alot punches, but lands a little over 60% of his strikes. He has 7 finishes by knock out in his career, but some say he has an underrated and under used ground game. VJ Kiwi has a strikers nightmare of a skillset, with a granite chin mixed with collegiate level wrestling and a brown belt. He also has some descent boxing which he sometimes choices to use over his grappling, which gets him into trouble. So the question is going to be which Kool Kiwi is going to show up the striker or the grappler, if he choices to stand with Stevens I have to give the advantage to Lance, but he if he takes the fight to the ground then I think he will be able to pull off a decision victory! I know one guy that will be interested in this match up, and that is 135lb King Joesph Ely!

265lb+ Championship-C.Jim Dandy(5-1)(4-1)vs(#8 P4P)#3.Cyrus the Virus(6-0)(6-0)

This is our Main Event of the evening, and its going to be a real treat! We have these two Super Heavyweight beast, squaring off for the rights to call themselves the King of the division! Jim Dandy is on a 3 fight win streak, which included 1 KO of the Night award and 1 Fight of the Night award and earning himself the title. His last fight was canidate for Fight of the year, and an absolute war with Tjemu Van Dijk! He has a solid chin, and some natural knock out power that has help him to 5 knock out wins. The challenger Cyrus the Virus is a beast of a striker, he has dynamite in both hands and he lays them on his opponents early and often landing 70% of his punches. He is on a 6 fight win streak, and is really building a huge fan base as he has already crack into the top 10 P4P in the org and is the number 7 ranked Super Heavyweight in Hilo! With both of these guys hands and chin, this one is going to be an early selection for Fight of the Night. I think that Cyrus is going to be a little too much for the Champion to handle, and I see the night ended with a Super Heavyweight King!

There you have it folks, an absolutely great night of fights a head for the surely to be sold out Hayashi's Lounge in Hilo. I would like to think our sponsors Pirates Powder nutrition and The Dark Side clothing stores, and make sure to check in for Sid and Jed I for all of your tycoon needs!
