This Saturday July 6th at Venice Beach, UPF-LA has put together another entertaining night of MMA action. UPF-LA 8: Parisyen vs Dragon has a bantamweight championship fight and a number one contender fight in the heavyweight division to see who will challenge our champ for his belt. With ten fights on the card this promises to an action packed night of fights with a huge fireworks display to top off the evening. Let's take a look at the fighters and see how they match up.

We start the undercard off with a light-heavyweight fight between Eiji Tate (3-6) and Vic Vitor (1-1).

Both of these fighters are looking for their first win inside the UPF-LA. The newcomer Vitor seems to prefer to fight on the ground with both of his two fights finished on the ground, but in both of his fights he did not go for a takedown himself. Tate is a stand up fighter who has the better stand up skills; I don't see Tate going for any takedown attempts so we should see if Vitor has what it takes to take his opponent down. Will Vitor take the fight to the ground and force Tate to tap, or will it be Tate who will be walking away with the KO?

Hole in Your Pocket Sportsbook (HIYP) odds: Eiji Tate -120, Vic Vitor -102

Next, we have a heavyweight fight between "Big" Bob Thorn (2-2) and Beef Chop (4-0).

Thorn is looking to return to the win column after both of his last two fights were stopped after he was cut early in the first round. Thorn is a well rounded fighter who has some real power, and he has a huge reach advantage in this fight. Chop is undefeated and has some real power, three of his four fights have ended in the first round. In Chop's last fight he beat on his opponent so bad that he tapped out in under two minutes. Will Chop score another KO and remain undefeated, or will Thorn rain on his parade and walk away with a victory?

(HIYP) odds: "Big" Bob Thorn -141, Beef Chop =115

Next is a welterweight fight between Butcher Luca (1-1) and Diego Rogero (4-2).

This will probably be Boxing vs Muay Thai battle, I don't expect the fight to go to the ground but if it does Luca will hold the advantage there. Rogero is a great boxer that has done well on the QFC circut, Luca's strength is using his Muay Thai in the clinch. This should be a stand up battle with Luca trying to clinch and Rogero working from a distance, Luca may throw in a takedown attempt here and there. Rogero does not have much skill in wrestling so Luca may even score a takedown in the fight. Will Rogero walk away with a win in his UPF-LA debut or will Luca be the one celebrating after the final bell?

(HIYP) odds: Butcher Luca -102, Diego Rogero -120

We finish up the undercard with a light-heavyweight fight between Constrictor Boa (4-1) and Pawel Nastula (3-1).

Matched up be have two black belts in BJJ, this should be quite a ground fight. Both fighters are submission artists and love to fight on the ground. Nastula holds the advantage in the stand up, I would expect him to try to fight off the takedown to score some points in stand up and make Boa use his energy to get the fight to the ground. Nastula has never had anyone attempt to submit him and Boa has only one attempt against him. Will Boa hand Nastula his second straight loss, or will it be Nastula who will bring Boa's winning streak to an end?

(HIYP) odds: Constrictor Boa +108, Pawel Nastula -133

The main card starts with a heavyweight fight between "The Madman Of Zaun" Doctor Mundo (3-1) and Braulio Silva (6-5-1).

Mundo is a powerful boxer who can put you down with one punch. Silva is a well rounded fighter who prefers to fight on the ground, all six of his wins have come by submission. Sliva has some stand up skill but he will want to take this fight to the ground, because he just can not stand and bang with Mundo very long. Will Silva take it to the ground an score yet another submission victory, or will Mundo beat him to a pulp?

(HIYP) odds: "The Madman Of Zaun" Doctor Mundo -133, Braulio Silva +108

Next, we have a light-heavyweight fight between Henzo "Smoke" Diaz (5-2) and Rodger "Hot Rod" Joaquin (4-1).

Both fighters are ground fights so you can expect this one to go to the ground quickly. Diaz holds the advantage in wrestling while Joaquin has the better BJJ. Three of Diaz's wins have come by submission but he likes to use his ground and pound as well. All four of Joaquin's wins came been by submission and he doesn't throw a lot of strikes on the ground. Will Joaquin tap out Diaz, or will it be Diaz forcing Joaquin to tap out?

(HIYP) odds: Henzo "Smoke" Diaz -111, Rodger "Hot Rod" Joaquin -111

Next, we have a middleweight bout between Carlos Alberto "Cazalbé" De Nobrega (5-1) and Ricky Hed (3-1).

Hed is looking to return to the win column after a disappointing loss to the champ Ouji Eiichi in UPF-LA 3. De Nobrega is a stand up fighters with not many ground skills. Hed is a well rounded fighter who prefers to fight standing, but holds the advantage on the ground. De Nobrega holds the advantage in the stand up and has KO power, so it will be interesting to watch how Hed handles him. Will Hed take it to the ground and get the win, or will De Nobrega get the win.

(HIYP) odds: Carlos Alberto "Cazalbé" De Nobrega +163, Ricky Hed -203

Finishing off the main card we have a heavyweight fight between "Snake" Aaron Evans (8-3) and Joe "The Punisher" Marcy (6-2).

This is a classic boxer vs wrestler match up. Marcy puts his four fight win streak on the line, he is a highly accurate ground and pound specialist that can bring down a barrage of punches on you that can put you out. Evans is a great boxer that has the power to put anyone down with one punch. In Evans' last seven wins the total time if you add it up is under two minutes, so he has some awesome KO power. Will Evans score another quick KO, or will Marcy take him down and beat him bloody?

(HIYP) odds: "Snake" Aaron Evans -102, Joe "The Punisher" Marcy -120

Next, we have our Main Events, first we have a match up for the bantamweight championship of the world between our undefeated champion Kari "The One" Parisyen (6-0) and Alex Dragon (6-3).

This promises to be a very entertaining fight. This is a rematch of a fight that ended in a split decision. Our champ Parisyen is a submission specialist who was unable to tap Dragon out in UPF-LA 2, but got the win on the scorecards. Dragon is a well rounded fighter who prefers to fight on the ground but holds the advantage in the stand up in this fight. I think we will see a good ground fight just like last time. Will Parisyen remain undefeated and retain his championship belt, or will Dragon be the one celebrating as he walks away with the belt?

(HIYP) odds: Kari "The One" Parisyen -111, Alex Dragon -111

This preview brought to you courtesy of "The MMA Today Show" starring Phil Conners.

We finish the night with a number one contender heavyweight fight to determine who will be getting the next shot at the heavyweight title belt. Matched up, we have Bobby "Smashface" Haley (10-4) and Koni "First Round" Maximus (6-4).

This fight will be fought on the ground we have two submission artists facing each other. Haley has had more experience defending against submissions with over 65 attempts against him but he will be facing a fighter who is holding a black belt this time. Maximus has only had 5 submission attempts against him but two of them have been successful, so this should be a very interesting ground fight. Will Maximus show us why he has a black belt in BJJ and force Haley to tap, or will it be Haley who gets the submission?

(HIYP) odds: Bobby "Smashface" Haley +115, Koni "First Round" Maximus -141
