BFT - 214: Bondi Beach Brawl 3 Review

Middleweight - Former Title Challenger and 4 time BFT 'Of The Night' winner Gary "Take That" Barlow submits 2 time BFT 'Of the Night' winner Elijah "Electro" Paris with an arm triangle at 4:57 of round 1.

Right out of the gate, Barlow lands some solid strikes before diving down for a successful takedown. Barlow was all over him trying to out smart Paris, but Paris was going for any and all limbs that were out in the open. Barlow was able to slip out of any situation and made his way into half gaurd where he quickly sunk in an arm triangle.

What's next for Gary? I feel like Gary is in a trick situation. I think that a Rematch with Brick Taylor could be an interesting fight. Hermio Junior is my choice. Former champ and a tough challenge.

Light Heavyweight - 3-time BFT title Challenger Titus "Tko" Kahoohalphala Unanimous Decisions BFT newcommer and former Right Pound MMA Light Heavyweight Champion Mauricio "Shogun-Rampage" Rua.

Things got started and Titus took it to the mat immediately. He was able to fight off Rua's submissions while simultaneously landing some solid ground and pound. Rua was able to make a little room and get a takedown for himself. Rua thought he saw an arm open, but he was gravely mistaken and ended up on his back until the round came to a close. Round two got started and Kahoohalphala wanted things back on the ground. "Tko" was able to stay on top of "Shogun-Rampage" and land the pain all over his face. The last round looked a lot like the third. Titus was really landing the ground and pound and Rua was feeling it. He was rocked for a few moments but was able to hold on for the few minutes that were left in the round and able to ride to a decision.

What's next for "Tko"? I think it is too soon for a rematch with the champ. Shananigan Lurendrejer is my bet. Titus lost to Lurendrejer twice (one time it was even for the belt). The winner of that fight should be the forerunner for the belt.

Middleweight Title Fight! - Former Boomerang! Lightweight and Welterweight Champion and current BFT Middleweight Champion Chev Chelios KO'ed 2 time BFT 'Of the Night' Winner "Panther" Darren Sparks with a punch at 2:11 in round  for his first title defense. .

Chelios moved the fight into the clinch and stalling commenced. There was almost nothing that happened there, so they broke up (it just wasn't working out =/). Sparks tried to get in close, but Chelios was moving around nicely and was landing at will. A head kick sends Sparks on the wobblies, and a jab puts him down.

What's next for the champ? I think the champ needs to maybe look at other divisions for his next fight. The best I can give him right now is Tarik Gibson.

Co-Main - Lightweight Title Fight! - BFT Lightweight Champion and 12 BFT "Of the Night" Winner "Kana" Kuroda Atsushi Unanimous Decisioned 26 BFT fight vet "Douser" Johnny Woo for his 7th title defence.

First round had a takedown from Atsushi but was mostly contested at the distance. Atsushi choose his shots nicely and was able to put a good beating on Woo. The second round was fought at the distance for the first minute or so, then Atsushi was able to bring the fight to the mat and continue to be dominant there. The third round had even less time at the feet before Atsushi was able to bring the fight to the ground and continue to control Woo. There was a trading of submission attempts but neither attempt was terribly successful. The fourth round was sent underway and Woo got a takedown right away. Atsushi was able to reverse the position via butterfly gaurd and controlled the fight until the round came to a close. The fifth round was contested entirely on the feet. Atsushi didn't mind that too much. He was able to ride on through the round and took the decision victory.

What's up for "Kana"? I would say a match-up with Malaipet Sasiprapa. He's 3 for 3 in BFT and shows no signs of slowing down.

Main Event - Heavyweight Title Fight! - Long time BFT Heavyweight Champ Hagen "The Barbarian" Germanicus Knocked out the former TFC and TCA Light Heavyweight Champion "Leonidas" Diziz Sparta with strikes at 9 seconds in the third round for his outstanding 10th title defence.

Things got heated quickly. These two men were at each other's necks and the crowd loved it. They moved to the clinch and threw it all out there. They moved back to the distance, but there was no CLEAR winner, one way or another. Sparta seemed to be landing more shots, but if you blinked you might say otherwise. The second round looked better for Sparta immediately. He wasy able to take things to the ground quickly. Sparta was staying sharp and picking his shots, until a missed elbow that Hagen used to his advantage and flipped things over with. He used the new positon to land as many shots as he could with the 3-odd minutes left in the round. When Sparta got up at the end of the round, it was clear that he was out of it. The third round was an even clearer demonstration. "The Barbarian" landed just a handful of more shots before the ref was done with this one.

What's next for Hagen? Most of the top Heavyweights are tied up at the moment, so perhaps a little break is in order to see the outcome of the up-coming matches. Of course, there is one guy he could go up against if he wanted to keep his streak going: "Big Nog" Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.

Undercard:
185 - Damian Nitschke - TKO1 - Peekay "Pretty Boy" Williams
155 - Malaipet "The Diamond" Sasiprapa - TKO1 - Carlos Silva
205 - "The Namibian Nightmare" Mukassa Jones - TKO2 - Steven Lidae
185 - Legionarivs "Apocolyptic" Sakara - TKO1 - Miau Subsi
185 - Gwyn "The Dragon" Jones - KO1 - Keiji "Mach" Numa
