 BFT - 190 - Bondi Beach Brawl 2

This spectacular event took place Sunday night, March 17, 2013. The crowd was sold out at 5750 with a BFT high event rating of 305.69. It was an insane night and the main card started with a bang.

Light Heavyweight - Titus "Tko" Kahoohalphala Knocked out "The Namibian Nightmare" Mukassa Jones with Strikes at 4:55 in round 3.

Right away, Jones shoots in for a takedown and landed in half guard. The two roll around for a while, and it gets a little difficult to determine who is really in control of the situation. There were really two keys to the round. While Jones was on top, he was throwing down all the submissions he could. And at the end of the round, for the last minute or so, Kahoohalphala was throwing the ground and pound from the top. It was certainly a rough round to score. The second round started and Kahoohalphala got the takedown right away and they started rolling around some more. Titus seemed to get the better of the positions and certainly made Jones pay for any actions. The third round got started and Jones was able to get the takedown this time. They got back to their feet, and Jones was able to take things down again. Titus was able to secure the mount and just went to town on his face. Titus wanted to keep the judges out of this fight, and with some strong shots he was able to do it. Nice job from Titus.

Light Heavyweight Title! - "Lone Star" Dallas MacMillan technically knocked out champion Shananigan Lurendrejer with a cut at 3:37 in round 5 to become the new Light Heavyweight Champion.

A rare treat, where there is a title shot in the middle of the card. The first round had a lot of different places. The fight moved to the clinch and MacMillan was loving it. He was even able to open an early cut with a knee to the head. Lurendrejer was able to get a few takedowns, but it didn't look like he was able to get much off. The second round got started, and MacMillan was able to find his way to the clinch. From there, he just was getting off. He was able to land at will and looked like he was enjoying it. Lurendrejer was trying to mount an offense back, but really was not able to get it going. The third round was in the clinch some more, to the pleasure of MacMillan. He was even able to rock him and open the cut a little more with some knees. Lurendrejer was able to make it out of this round, but you had to think that he needed some more urgency to keep the fight out of the clinch. The fourth round seemed to have him do just that. They were able to keep it at the distance, where the two of them were landing. Mac Millan certainly had the better action going on there. Lurendrejer was able to get the takedown, however, and was able to hold him down there for the rest of the round. Lurendrejer needed to get something off in order to take the fight at this point, but never really could. The last round had more of a clinch fight. A solid punch sent Lurendrejer to the mat, but he was able to get back up. The fight looked like it was goiong to be over soon, but not the way it did end. The ref walked in and determined that the cut was too bad, and ended the fight. Would the fight have ended soon anyway? I think so. Was it a good call? I think so. This should take nothing away from MacMillan. He had a great fight and was able to get a finish. Congradulations to the new champ MacMillan.

Heavyweight - "Big Nog" Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria submitted "Demolition Man" Alistair Overeem with a kimura at 1:42 in round 1.

Right away, Nogueira contered a clinch attempt with a takedown. From the top he landed a few nice shots of ground and pound, but he used it to open up a kimura attempt. Overeem looked like he was in pain instantly and that was that. I'm going to hop on my high horse a little bit. Look at Big Nog. 8-0 in BFT, All first round finishes. His last two performances were Submission of the knight performances. If he does not get a title shot next, he should definately get a number one contender fight next.

Co-Main - Lightweight - "Pehlwan Monster" Mohammed Ul Haq knocked out Champion "Kana" Kuroda Atsushi with strikes at 3:27 in round 3.

Ul Haq got the takedown right away, and was able to just get to work. He really was working hard to keep Atsushi down, and did a great job of it. He was hurting him and kept active throughout the fight. The second round Atsushi was able to take the fight to the ground, but Ul Haq was able to sweep into full mount. He worked hard for it and was making sure to capitalize on the moment. Atsushi was trying to get to the top, but it wasn't working for him. Kuroda looked like he wanted this. He was very agressive on the feet and was doing his bes to get Ul Haq. He got the takedown and was looking to finish things. Ul Haq had different plans. He went straight for the sweep into full mount and was able to land enough ground and pound to have the ref stop the fight. Really some nice action from both guys, but Ul Haq was on the ball tonight! "Kana" was lucky tonight. There must have been mistake in the paperwork because Kuroda's title was not on the line, but I predict a rematch for the title.

Main Event - Heavyweight Title! - Champion Hagen "The Barbarian" Germanicus KO'ed "Lord" Kim Jong with a Head Kick in 12 seconds in round 1.

Talk about power. Hagen did two leg kicks, and then shot high. Jong went down, and that was that. I mean he really just sent him down. That was just straight up scary. Since this was a short one, I'll take this time to look into the future for Hagen. Possible contenders? Former Champ Laguna Lunaris has been looking good. "Big Nog" Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira has an impressive streak as of late. Pete "War Machine" Tippin and Nathan "The Rage" Cadge have put some good 3 fight winning streaks together, with two bonuses for each of them in that stretch. Some new bloods to keep an eye on, wild cards if you may, "The Freak" Brock Lesnar or Zachary "Big Daddy" Bronson.
