GAMMA: FOY awards

Global Association of MMA, Fight Organization, London
Company profile by Mentor Guru Corleone

Here are the final results for the GAMMA Fighter of the year awards (FOY)

3rd) Raz Matazz (25622)

15 fights 10 wins, 1 draw, 4 losses. His losses came from Siouxsie Banshees, Karl Denke, Tank The Razors Edge, all people he beat during the year. He also got a revenge over Lucas Silva who he had previously lost to. He also regained the 185lbs title again. Hit top 100 p4p again for the 2nd time in his career and also became the first fighter in GAMMA's history to win a title 3 times.

The only reason he is not 2nd or 1st is the fact that he lost his last fight of the season in a huge upset to Fred Ettish. The upside of all this is that Raz will face Fred in a rematch soon, a win there will make Raz the only 4 time GAMMA champion ever. What is most unbelievable is the fact that he first win the 185lbs title in early February 2010!!!

2nd) Jeremy Tonal (31632)

Retired mid summer, but still managed to pull off 11 fights. He was #1 p4p up until mid May. 8 wins over top 20 p4p fighters during that period. 3 losses, but they were against top competition.  If he did not retire half way through the year, he probably would of easilly won this.

Then again he was on a poor run just before he retired losing his last 2 fights. Either way, Jeremy is a living legend in the game, last years game p4p fighter of the year, he held the #1 spot longer than anyone else in the game with 7 consecutive top 20 p4p wins in a row making him part of MMA folklore.

1st) Anton Chigurh (58657)

15 fights (16 on the 29th) 11 wins, hit games top spot p4p during the year but lost his title to Fidel Duberry. Avenged one of the losses to Emeka Shakur. On his last fight of the season he beat Kyle Carlton (the guy which a few weeks earlier had beaten Fidel in a super fight).

This has moved Anton into the top 10 p4p position for the first time since losing his p4p kingship. He will be facing Emeka Shakur (again, this is their 3rd fight in the past year). A win there could propel him just under the top stop again.

I think Anton has deserved the fighter of the year award mainly because he has shown resilience to come back. Winning the #1 p4p spot is something nobody had predicted, especially when he just signed up to GAMMA from Syn. All we need to see now is if he can complete the triumph by regaining his p4p spot again.
