HERO 45: Fish vs Torrez II preview

Event Preview: HERO 45: Fish vs Torrez II
HERO FC
2012-11-24, Helsinki, Malmi Sportshall
Author:Bel Ciganin

This is a monumental event for HERO FC people! The first ever PPV made by the best organization in this side of the universe. We usually bring out super stacked cards, but this one will be something to really remember. Two title fights are what is going to plant you infront of the TV ordering the PPV or heading down to the Malmi Sportshall – both are sure signs of a good time. In the co-main event Tobias Larsson will put his heavyweight strap on the line against Clarence Adams and in our main event Albert Fish and Eddie Torrez will battle it out for the second time for the grand price – twe welterweight championship.  As I said, this card is stacked from top to bottom so let’s take a closer look.
Preliminary fights:
Bingo Steel (1-4-0) v “Heavy metal” Zoran Lippo (2-0-0)
Middleweight
The privilege of giving the start of the show goes to Bingo Steel and Zoran Lippo. Steel is the more experienced fighter and will try to give Lippo his first pro loss but he better watch out, because Zoran is a slick grappler and a tricky foe.
“The Demon Child” Natalie Renee (1-2-0) v “The Shredder” Phillip Schreiber (5-4-0)
Lightweight
Phillip has seen unforgettable hights and lows in his career as he once was the lightweight champ but later he suffered a 4 fight losing streak, which he just snapped. He is facing a very skilled youngster – Natalie Renee, who is standing for himself against the best in the division, in what is going to be a very intriguing fight.
"The Prodigy " Thiraphon Jr Phuttharaksa (5-7-0) v "The Magician" John Dodson (6-10-0)
Bantamweight
Both guys have plenty of fights and experience and are great grapplers as well, so I expect this fight to hit the ground and we will find out who’ll get the better of the other in an area where both guys shine.
Jorge “J. G.” Grugel (3-0-0) v Sven “The Detective” Hjernson (1-7-0)
Lightweight
Sven might not be the best guy out there but he never stops trying. That is a serious display of huge heart and he deserves admiration. He won’t get it from undefeated Jorge Grugel, who will rather stomp him in the cage than bowing to him.
Damien Byrkjelo (3-1-0) v Nikolai Jegorowitsch Makarow (1-0-0)
Heavyweight
Damien is a well-rounded fighter who uses takedown and ground and pound to frustrate opponents. He should avoid losing his consciousness in the process, because Makarow is one hard hitting SOB with a very bright future in front of him.
Main card:
Brian “Barrage” Lancer (6-2-0) v "The Executioner" Davor Langerholc (3-0-0)
Light heavyweight
We kick off the main card of the event with a potential fight of the night featuring Lancer and Langerholc. Brian’s game plan is pretty simple – get in the cage, connect with a right hand and raise hands victoriously. He has never gone to a decision in his career and he is a recipie for entertainment. His opponent tonight – Davor Langerholc has all the tools to achieve great things in the sport. Davor can handle with top notch strikers, but his real focus is his ground game. A BJJ black belt, “The Executioner” is one of the most technical grapplers stepped in the HERO cage so he is not someone you’d like to roll with if you aim to achieve victory.
"The Son of God" Ingemar Anders (5-2-0) v Jeremy "Pervert" Truong (6-0-0)
Lightweight
Now that is a fight, destined to please every real fight fan. Ingemar and Jeremy have 11 combined wins, all coming by KO and I don’t see this trend being snaped. The “Pervert” is undefeated mainly because of his heavy hands and defensive wrestling. He might not be the more technical of the two but his KO power cannot be underestimated. I don’t know whether Anders is really a son of god, but his stand up is quite frankly godlike so all eyes on this fight and don’t blink!
Martin Huuhkaja (6-3-0) v ”The Elk” Ruslan Smirnov (6-2-0)
Bantamweight
This fight is going to determine the n1 contender for the bantamweight strap and given what’s at stake, I reckon Huuhkaja and Smirnov will go all out. Martin is very well rounded, possessing dangerous stand up and proficient BJJ skills and simply put he is a constant danger to opponents. I doubt he’d like to be on his back in this particular fight though. His opponent, the Russian catchwrestler Ruslan Smirnov, has made his career of submitting guys using top position and flawless BJJ.
"Kroll" Tobias Larsson (9-2-0) v Clarence "Cold Cocked" Adams (6-2-0)
Heavyweight. Title fight. Co-main event.
The Co-main event of this historic event will be a five round fight for the heavyweight championship. The current champ Tobias Larsson was able to get the strap at his third attempt and will give everything his has in order to retain it. His first title defense will be against the “Cold Cocked” Adams. He has made a very good impression with his striking and will try to use it to capture the belt. Larsson is not an amateur striker as well so if this one goes to the feet it will be really even. I think that Larsson’s grappling  will be the decisive factor in this fight, because that is his bread and butter and is the reason for him to be called a champion. In a heavyweight fight all that’s needed is one punch to change the course of battle so those counting Adams out are pretty foolish.
"The Werewolf Of Wisteria" Albert Fish (9-1-0) v Eddie "Rhino" Torrez (9-2-0)
Middleweight. Title fight. Main event.
There is a reason for those two to headline the card that will take HERO FC to the next level and that reason is they are incredibly talented. Both Albert and Eddie have all the qualities to be faces of the organization and they will come to the battle for more than that – the ultimate reward for both guys is the middleweight title. There must be a whole lot of bad blood between those two as Fish KOed Torrez in their first meeting and took the title from him, but now Eddie has the change to deliver vengeance. A lot has changed since those two met, but it has changed in a positive way – they both got better and are in the best forms to date for that collision. Leaving the personal issue aside, we have a very intriguing stylistical match up – both guys are strikers, both guys have 9 wins and have finished all of them via knockout. That is the kind of fight you should show to your friends who are unfamiliar with the sport to get them involved in it.Torrez relies a bit more on boxing while Fish likes to mix it up a bit more – he even knocked down Eddie in their first outing with a head kick, but I have to say they are equally dangerous strikers. All that’s left for us is to sit back and enjoy this classic-in-the-making and let "The Werewolf Of Wisteria" and the "Rhino” do what they do best.
