November's King of the Cage (KOTC) Debut

Event Preview: King Of The Cage - Debut
Evil Empire - Throwdown
2012-11-24, Sydney, Wild Bob's Bar - Sydney
Author:

Greetings to everyone taking the time out of their extremely busy lives to read the few words I have to say. This event is going to be the first of many great cards and it is all going to start right here in Wild Bob's Bar in Sydney. A lot of time has been spent on trying to create the best possible match-ups not only for the fighters but also for all of you fans out there. Please keep in mind that the bar has limited seating and I am claiming the front 4 seats for myself, my 2 lady-friends, and my priest. So if you want a seat you better get there early!

Main Card:

Buster Cherry (0-0-0) vs. BJ "The Prodigy" Penn (0-5-0)
Welter Weight
Buster Cherry is going to be making his debut in the pro ranks against "The Prodigy". Do not let Penn's record fool you for this fight. He is a BJJ blue belt and a very determined fighter. His downfall may be that he is going up against Buster who arguably has a better ground game and will be looking to put a few dents in Penn's scar tissue. This fight will most likely start and end on the ground unless BJ can manage to keep it on the feet and use the advantage he has there to win the fight.

Renen "Barao" Pagado (0-0-0) vs. Spar Boxing (1-3-0)
Heavy Weight
Renen is another fighter making his pro debut. But this one could be a bit different as he has had extensive training in grappling prior to this debut. He has been working hard and is going to look to get this to the ground very quickly and put his BJJ to use against Spar Boxing. Spar and Renen could not be two more different fighters in style. Spar is extremely confident and is going to try to keep his distance in this fight and make it a standup fight to try and get that 2nd notch on his belt. Should be a very entertaining fight.

Brad "Bandytown" Bandrige (0-0-0) vs. "The Monster" Frank N Stein (0-0-0)
Middle Weight
Both fighters here will make their pro debut and it should be an interesting one. They both are highly skilled ground fighters but Frank is definitely more prolific in the grappling department. This is ultimately going to come down to who wants it the most. Their training camps are over, their trainers and managers have a gameplan put together, so lets see who will come out and capitalize.

Fedor "The Last Emporer" Emelianenko (0-0-0) vs. Buster Hymen (0-0-0)
Heavy Weight
Everytime I look at that name I swear I have heard of him before...I just can't seem to place it though. Anyways, this is two guys looking to break into the Tycoon world of MMA with their first victory (or loss) with style. Both guys have been pretty good wrestlers in college but since deciding to go pro have started to branch their training out. Fedor decided to go the Muay Thai route, and Buster decided that boxing would be his calling card. Who chose the right one? We will see!

"Mr Wonderful" Justin Credible (0-0-0) vs. "The Duke" Igor Pokrajac (1-0-0)
Light Heavy Weight
This fight has interesting all over it. From just a paper standpoint it looks like Igor is the better rounded fighter of the two. But with Justin's background in bjj you just cannot count him out of this fight. I can only see Igor trying to force this fight to stay on the fight while Justin does everything in his power to get the fight on the ground to finish it. Does he have the chin to get in and get him on the ground? We are gonna find out people!

Al Kaholic (0-0-0) vs. Daniel "Black Fedor" Cormier (1-1-1)
Heavy Weight
Daniel is coming into this fight not phased about his record in the slightest. He is extremely confident and has the skills to back it up. On the other side Kaholic is not going to back down from him. Expect a lot of fireworks in this one as it could be either of them pushing for the takedown or both just happy to exchange on the feet.

Kane "Heat" Legion (1-0-0) vs. "Gypsy" Junior Dos Santos (0-0-0)
Heavy Weight
This fight is going to be interesting. Possibly the most out of the entire card. Kane is known for being an extremely intelligent fighter and has a outstanding ground game. Dos Santos has one of the better amateur boxing records I have seen in a long time. Especially for a 20 year old. This is a fight that you might just lose all your money on because it is just too difficult to see who is going to pull of the victory here. I can tell you this, neither one wants to fight the others game.

Spar Wrestling (5-3-0) vs. David Bromley (2-1-0)
Welter Weight
Spar Wrestling has a ton of potential coming into this fight. He has 5 wins and has shown to be very intelligent, has heavy hands, and tons of amateur experience. I know I mention his hands, just don't expect him to actually try to use them while standing with his opponent. His world is the ground and he will be looking to use that to his advantage all fight long. However, after watching David's fights and his training camp I would say Spar needs to be very careful if he gets on the ground with him because David is very very good there. His submissions off his back are some of the best I have seen from such a young guy. I expect to see Bromley in the top of the ranks in the near future.

"The Natural" Randy Couture (4-0-0) vs. Ultimate Fighter (4-3-0)
Heavy Weight
I watched (read) all of Randy's fights. He has 1 thing he absolutely loves doing...clinching you and beating the living hell out of you. He is extremely powerful and has never been stopped so far. From an outside perspective the easy choice is to say that Randy would win this just looking at his record. The thing is, Ultimate is no joke either. He has a few more fights than Randy and his ground game is great while his boxing game is stellar. If Randy cannot get inside on him it could be a very long night.

This event is going to be an absolute bomb shell here in Sydney and if you are not there to see it then you are clearly in the wrong place. There are going to be some really great fights where you may just see a future champion or two come into play. And then there are also going to be lots of alcohol and I even heard rumors of a show halfway through the card...where let's just say you should leave your kids at home. Bring your appetite, bring your credit card, and bring lots of small bills as this is one night you are NEVER going to forget.
