Ladies and Gentlemen, New York’s fastest rising MMA organization, Survival of the Fittest, is proud to present to you SOTF 18: Here Comes The Boom, an event that will be held live from the Credit Card Center Arena in New York on Sunday the 21st of November 2012. This event will be loaded with extremely exiting bouts, including the five-round main event between Pentti Hilkuri and Dante Evangelisti. Now let’s get our detailed fight per fight preview started:

Ryan De Pury v Mark Calahan
We kick things off in the light-heavyweight division, 29 year old remarkable wrestler and competent boxer Ryan De Pury is 2-0 here in the organization, winning the decision against Angel Rivera at SOTF 6, before earning the ‘’submission of the night’’ award for his victory over Charlie Manson at SOTF 13, and is hoping to remain undefeated and continue his rise to the top of the 205 ladder. Meanwhile, 21 year old wonderful Canadian fighter Mark Calahan had a great debut here in the organization, earning ‘’the fight of the night’’ bonus for his win over Ron Kelly at SOTF 4, but then suffered from two setbacks from his submission defeats against Gus Shamrock at SOTF 8 and Jagger Raffinski at SOTF 14, and he now knows that this is a fight he can’t afford to lose. De Pury is clearly the better striker between the two, as well as being the better BJJ practitioner, but Calahan could have a slight edge in the wrestling department which he will need to utilize in order to snatch the victory.

Nadi Tsunami v Tommy Fire
We move down to the lightweights. 22 year old remarkable Finnish wrestler and BJJ purple belt Nadi Tsunami has been on a tear ever since joining the organization, after knocking William Cockburn out at SOTF’s first event, he submitted his next three opponents, Ozzy Stanton at SOTF 2, Ryan Apostle at SOTF 6 and Jason Easton at SOTF 14, thus becoming one of the most feared fighters in this weight-class. Meanwhile, 23 year old remarkable Jamaican wrestler Tommy Fire had a wonderful promotional debut, upsetting Charlie Luciano at SOTF 7, but then he couldn’t keep that momentum up, dropping two decisions against Unigu Rege at SOTF 13 and Luciano in their rematch at SOTF 16, making this fight a crucial one for him in order to restore his pride, but beating Tsunami will a hard task for him, since the Finnish fighter is the superior boxer and also the better BJJ practitioner.

Vincenzo Calliente v Dominick Silvic
In the welterweight division, 34 year old wonderful boxer and BJJ brown belt Vicenzo Calliente is looking to rebound after getting submitted in his last two outings by Chris Rudd at SOTF 13 and Roy Brown at SOTF 16, and regain the form that made him win his first four promotional bouts. On the other hand, strong wrestler and Muay Thai fighter and BJJ purple belt Dominick Silvic has finally put an end to his 5-fight losing streak when he won the decision against Zhang Zhu at SOTF 12 and is now hoping he can build on that victory and put together a winning streak. Calliente will be the heavy favorite in this one, since he will have the advantage on his feet, as well as being the better BJJ practitioner, but predictions won’t stop Silvic from trying to pull off the upset.

Unigu Rege v Kazna Futzchag
In the lightweight divison, 28 year old remarkable Finnish wrestler and BJJ purple belt Unigu Rege is 2-0 since joining the organization, earning two decision victories over Diego Nunes at SOTF 7 and Tommy Fire SOTF 13, establishing himself as a serious threat to anyone in this weight-class. On the opposing corner of the cage will be the 24 year old well-rounded German fighter Kazna Futzchag, who has recently submitted Billy Bunter at SOTF 17, thus ending his 6-fight losing streak that he was on, and he is now hoping to get his second promotional win, after merely losing his first two by close decisions. Rege will have the advantage in almost every department, and he would be the pick for anyone looking for a safe bet.

Max Henderson v Henry Ballard
In the middleweight division, 20 year old New Yorker BJJ purple belt Max Henderson has been fighting here in the organization for a long time, currently sponsoring a promotional record of 3-2, and all of those three wins have came via various submission moves, against Bob Swarley at SOTF 6, Jimmy Sisphar at SOTF 11 and Mario Balotelli at SOTF 15, while his first of his two defeats was against the man he is set to meet again, 19 year old strong wrestler and BJJ purple belt Henry Ballard, who won the fight via a triangle choke at SOTF 4. Ballard then went on to defeat Duck Sweeney at SOTF 8, before suffering from his first promotional loss against Jake Rosholt at SOTF 14. Both fighters are BJJ specialists who love to submit their opponents, but Ballard’s superior wrestling as well as his boxing will mark him as the favorite to beat Henderson yet again.

Sun Kato v Gabriel Halo

Back to light-heavyweight division, where two BJJ brown belts will be making their promotional debut. 33 year old sensational Japanese striker and wonderful wrestler Sun Kato was the long time reigning FWI light-heavyweight champion, and he also won several other belts in the same weight-class, as he is a former champion at SFC, MFC and IMMA, and he is now making his SOTF debut hoping for one more successful run in his long-storied career. On the other hand, 25 year old exceptional striker and superb wrestler Gabriel Halo is a true knockout artist, getting all of his professional wins via (T)KOs, and winning the ‘’KO of the night’’ twice, and he has also never been finished before in his career so far, but this time he will enter the bout as the underdog who will be plotting for an upset, since his veteran opponent looks like the superior striker as well the superior wrestler of the two.

Javier Pena v Julio Silva

Our next bout is in the lightweight division. 26 year old sensational boxer and superb wrestler Javier Pena had a great debut here in the organization, finishing Hugo Martinez in the first round at SOTF 5, but he then dropped a decision against Nathan Summers at SOTF 11 and was submitted by Doc Holiday at SOTF 15, and he is now out searching for redemption, when he takes one of the best lightweights in New York, the former RW lightweight champion, 27 year old exceptional Brazilian wrestler and BJJ black belt Julio Silva, who has already finished his first two promotional opponents, Dmitry Petrenko at SOTF 4 and  Azathoth Yog-Sothoth at SOTF 10 via first round submissions, earning the ‘’submission of the night’’ award for the second win. Both fighters are true specialists, while Pena has 8 career (T)KO wins, Silva possesses 8 professional submission victories.

 Roberto Hernando v Marcos Aurelio

In our co-main event, two former heavyweight champions will battle it out for five rounds. 30 year old sensational Muay Thai fighter and Tuvualu’s own Roberto Hernando is the former long time reigning WUE super-heavyweight champion and Valhalla heavyweight champion, and he now makes his SOTF debut hoping to add another successful chapter to his impressive professional career. On the other hand, 31 year old sensational Brazilian boxer and BJJ purple belt Marcos Aurelio SMMA and SFC heavyweight champion, and he will also be making his SOTF career looking to impress. Both fighters are dangerous knockout artists, sponsoring 16 and 15 (T)KO wins respectively, so expect this fight to provide a contender for the ‘’KO of the night’’ award.

  Pentti Hilkuri v Dante Evangelisti

Time for the main even folks! Two champions will collide in what is expected to be an epic five round middleweight showdown. 24 year old Finnish sensational boxer and BJJ purple belt Pentti Hilkuri will be making his SOTF debut as the reigning RCD middleweight champion, and he is a vicious knockout artist, earning 9 of his 14 career wins via (T)KOs. On the opposing corner of the cage will be the 28 year old elite striker and sensational wrestler Dante Evangelisti who is the former Syn’ champion, who will also be making his promotional debut, hoping to add another huge name to his list of victims. Evagelisti will enter this super fight as the favorite in most experts’ books, as he will have the advantage in most of the departments, especially on the ground, as he clearly is the superior wrestler of the two as well as being the better BJJ practitioner, but the young Finnish champion can never be counted out of a fight, especially when the stakes are that high, so expect to see an old fashioned slugfest!
