CEC 226 : Exquisite Preview

205lbs : Jackie Treehorn v Jack Worthington
Treehorn will officially make his CEC debut here after his initial debut was a non-starter due to an issue with weight cutting. He came to us with an impressive 11-2 record and will look to his his solid all round skills to try to secure a win over his struggling opponent. Worthington is good, we know he is but a little inconsistency has hampered his progression. He is better in all primary areas of the fight game than the man he faces today but that doesn't mean he will walk away the winner. A tough fight that could go either way.

205lbs : Corporate Slave v Vladimir Tretiak
Slave bounced into action not to long ago with a nice stoppage win in his first ever mma fight and will feel confident that he can repeat that feat when he steps into the cage again. Tretiak won his first fight in CEC but since then has lost a trio of bouts, being stopped each time. He really needs to get his ground game working the way it was before and start tearing off limbs the way he used to.

HERO 28: Van Der Moot vs Li

Prelims

Bantamweight Division:  Matti Teitsi vs Dan Love

Teitsi clinched early in this one and stayed far more aggressive than Love. He worked the dirty boxing throughout the first round, almost finishing the fight around the two minute mark. Coming out in the second, he had a look of fire in his eyes. In the clinch once again, he made sure to end it. Result: Teitsi by 2nd round TKO

4K.40 : The Big One - Recap by Ganja Man

LIGHT IT, DON'T FIGHT IT!!! Ganja here! Same as always! If I wasn't so handsome, you might even get tired of me. Four Kings brought it's talent to the 209 Arena, where we hosted one of the best shows yet. There's nothing like 21,209 screaming fans, good thing they give me headphones. It was something out of this world. Every main card fight ended in a knockout, heavyweights aren't the only ones with power here in Four Kings. This fight features our newly crowned Middleweight champion, Jorge Aquino. This guy has made history in his short time at Four Kings. After an exciting debut in the promotion, he got a title shot and wasted no time in dismantling the former champion. The main event wasn't the most exciting however, this whole event seemed worthy of being named "The Big One". We saw the biggest names, the biggest arena, and the biggest bitch I've ever seen in my life. Seriously, that lady was huge! But enough of Ganja's pace consuming introductions, you came here for a mind-bending recap. Fortunately, that's what I'm paid to do.

Syndicate 132 Preview

Event Preview: Syndicate 132
Sydney Fight Championship
2012-09-01, Hilo, Hula's
Author:

The Syndicate returns to Hula's in Hilo just three days after an outstanding Syndicate 131 card that left the city buzzing.  Syndicate 132 is guaranteed to take that excitement to a fever pitch with a fight card chock full of exciting MMA action that includes two huge title fights as well as a super fight between Mitch McDonald, superstar from the most recent League of Leagues tournament in Los Angeles and recent QFC Montreal heavyweight champion Stuart Redman.

The action will start with a light heavyweight match up pairing Jason Eckstein (0-0) making his career debut against Quinton Jackson (14-8).  Eckstein enters the cage as a green 18 year old rookie to the sport, looking to shock the world and steal a win from the veteran Jackson who is fifteen years his senior.  We frankly know little about Eckstein other than the fact that he has spent the majority of his time training his Muay Thai skills.  He comes in under the veteran management of Kelly McGrady, so he could easily turn out to be a pleasant surprise.  Jackson scoffs at the notion that Eckstein will test him in any way and is intent on coming out and dominating the youngster.  Jackson is a heavy handed slugger who has recorded 12 wins in his career via KO or TKO.  The biggest weakness in Jackson's game is his glass chin.  He has been on the receiving end of multiple KOs and TKOs over the course of his career.  On paper, this fight looks like a squash match, but if Eckstein can weather the storm early and connect with Jackon's jaw, we could be in for a surprise.

The second fight will pit former Reach veteran Ragnar Danneskjold (23-16) against new Syndicate signee, Jeff Spicoli (57728).  Danneskjold is a solid boxer and a ground and pound specialist.  He beat Spicoli back in April after dropping him with a takedown, mounting him, and pounding him out late in the second round.  Spicoli is most comfortable on his feet, putting his boxing skills on display against his opponents.  His ground skills are decent, but he's definitely going to want to stay off his back against Danneskjold unless he want to suffer the same fate that he did in their previous meeting.

Piotr Rasputin (26-10) has found little success in his brief stint with The Syndicate, and the whispers are being heard that many pundits feel he's past his prime.  Rasputin hits like a freight train as his 23 career wins by KO or TKO will testify.  He has traditionally proven himself to have a solid jaw with his biggest weakness often being his ground game.  Shane Carwin (17-11) is in the throes of a terrible losing streak and badly needs to perform against Rasputin to prove that he still belongs in The Syndicate.  Like Rasputin, Carwin is most comfortable on his feet, going toe to toe with his opponents.  The thing that is cause for concern for Carwin's management team is that he has been knocked out in each of his last three fights, causing some to question if he's simply taken too much punishment over the years.  This will be a great opportunity to see what these two veterans have left in the tank.

The incredibly gifted Christian Satanmury (23-10) will be looking for his fifth win in six contest when he clashes with Peter Parker (17-7) in our third fight.  Satanmury has been on quite a roll of late, with his only recent loss coming when he moved up to lightweight for a single fight back in July.  He is an incredibly well rounded fighter who is equally comfortable trading fists as he is dumping his opponent to the canvas and pounding on him or submitting him.  His phenomenal skill set gives him the versatility to adapt his game plan based on the skills of his opponent.  Like Satanmury, Parker has a very complete skill set but tends to lean mostly on his Muay Thai.  With effective kicks

4K.42 : Up Against - Preview

Event Preview: 4K.42 : Up Against
Valhalla: Four Kings (ID 150k+)
2012-09-01, Amsterdam, The Beer Garden
Author:

A to the K homeboys. The K being me. The raddest K of all time. Did you miss me? I missed you, you ugly buggers. Been flat out like a lizard drinking as we say in this part of the world but I am putting in the overtime to bring you what you want, what you need. It's time for The Four King's 42nd event, entitled "Up Against" and I can tell you now that in the main event Saroa is up against... A Pole. I can tell by the incomprehensible, for a poor English speaker like myself, name. I am starting to wonder if the Russians and Germans keep trying to partition Poland so they can institute a name regime where everyone is called 'Schmidt' or 'Petrov' or something. Anyway, back to the action:

Nanos Perdatov vs. Mason "Action" Jackson Middleweight

Up-and-comers Perdatov and "Action" Jackson look to improve on their records and cement a solid fan following as they get the main card started. Perdatov will be hoping he has what it takes to get this fight to the floor whilst "Action" will be going for the opposite, putting his boxing to good use and looking for an early KO before his worthless rolling skills get tested and found lacking. Perdatov is fresh out of OverComing, this is his first fight for 4K and he'll be looking to get it going on a good note and as he is yet to be knocked out I think his chin should be tough enough to see him last long enough to score a takedown and submit Jackson.

Anthony "Malice" McKenzie vs. "The Freak" Nils Korst

Middleweight

If you're looking for an example of a big heart and punching above your weight look no further. Korst is 15lbs lighter than McKenzie and the latter has the superior Thai boxing and wrestling but this isn't putting him off. With both men boasting exceptional boxing skills this is going to be a great battle of the sluggers. Expect big hits and fancy footwork boys and girls. Unfortunately for Korst, and for cliches everywhere, heart isn't everything and "Malice" will be able to use his kickboxing to slow down that footwork, kick by kick. Pencil me in for a McKenzie knock out win but except it to be hard fought the whole way through.

"The Bad Boy Of Figureskat" Chez Michaels vs. Shawn "JoJo" Geissen
