Luigi "The Green Plumber" Bates

Fighter profile of Tomislav Kralj by Adam Leigh

Luigi Bates is so far undefeated in his pro MMA career. The 178cm 177lbs welterweight spoke to me recently in an exclusive interview. With two appearances under his belt for New York’s World Combat Championship, Bates admits he’s happy with his winning start yet says it hasn’t been easy.

“It's been a solid start but not an easy start. Both fights have been against tough guys and I am delighted to have my hand raised at the end of both of them. I wanted to put a show on for the fans of WC and get a finish in both but as I said they were good opponents, still I am glad I showcased my stand-up and ground game a bit in both of them.”

The Italian had his hand raised over Cian Cartwright in his debut and more recently Daniel Mosby. Before “The Green Plumber” turned his attention to mixed martial arts, he worked as a plumber with his brother, Mario. They used the business as a way to fund their dream of becoming MMA superstars.

“Mario and I are twins. Yes all brothers fight a lot, growing up we fought a lot, not only with each other but plenty of others. Then again our father made it that way, he was in the Italian Mafia and brought us up like that. We saw a lot of fucked up shit and decided we would put our fighting ability to a

Highland Games 84 Review

Event Review: Highland Games 84
Highland Games
2015-06-14, London, Camden Conference Centre
Attendance:7,000, Event Rating:305
Author:Callum McGregor

The venue was Camden Conference Centre, the crowd was 7000 strong and the title was on the line. This was Highland Games 84.

Middleweight
Pat Rachi (4-0) def. Janek Dzwignia (4-1) by Submission (Armbar) at 3:57 of Round 2
We’d seen Rachi bring some dangerous striking into the cage, so for this fight BJJ Brown Belt Janek Dzignia wanted nothing to do with the striking and wanted this fight to play out on the floor where he felt he had a big advantage. I’ll weight in here by saying DAMN is Pat Rachi a prospect. Not only does he defeat Janek, but he submits him by Armbar. Insanely impressive victory for Rachi as he continues to move forward in the Middleweight rankings.

Middleweight
Itshak Rabinovitch (6-3) def. Marcus Warring (7-2) by Unanimous Decision
This as Rabinovitch’s debut after a career in Last Man Standing and REZDOG. Marcus lost his debut by submission so he was looking to take a wi

Efficiency is doing things right; effectiveness is doing the right things              - Peter F. Drucker

I love it when I view all the fights and see that there were a lot of finishes, especially if they were finished in the first round. Do you know why I love first round finishes? No not because I think they are more exciting or because the might make for better fight ratings. No, it’s because of one thing: I am lazy as hell and love to write reviews for shorter fights, they are a lot easier. HAHA what’s up fans and fanatics of Ring of Violence.

The Stremphf coming at you with another review, this one of ROV 33. This event was seen by a sold out crowd of 7708 in Kazan Sambo Center in St. Petersburg. The event rat

Mel Gordon Interview

Fighter profile of Mel Gordon by Callum McGregor

What: Once again we're talking to Mel Gordon, one of the two fighters who will compete for the inagural Highland Challengers light heavyweight championship. How are things Mel?

Gordon: Thanks for having me again. Things are good in the gym and in the ring.

What:  When we last spoke to you, you said that you felt it'd be a little while before people knew your name. Coming into the first Highland Challengers title fight, people certainly know who Mel Gordon is. How has the turnaround been for you?

Gordon: It's been different having people think they recognize but not sure where from. So as long as I don't let it go to my head I should be alright and stay focused on the fighting.

What: Y

Author:The Dictator

Are you feeling ok? Do you want some company? Well, suck it up because it's ALL ALONE time!
Today we take a look at the top 5 fights happening on tomorrow's event at Wild Bob's Bar.

#6 Stuart Priest Juan Carlos Reyes

Stuart suprised a lot of people with his spectacular miniature KO win over Santos. It took him 27 seconds to throw a devastating combo and win the bout. That being said, he's still 1-3 overall and his opponent, Reyes, is also coming off a win. This looks to be an even match so don't forget to watch.

#7 Lamar Diggs Simon Udovich

Diggs, was the favorite last time and lost badly so I'll refrain from more comments on him for the time being. Udo

Inside The UPF - Mustafiq Rana

Fighter profile of Mustafiq Rana by Dale Saw

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of ALL ages, welcome back to yet another Inside The UPF. As always I am your host Fred Meyer. Today on the show we have a talented young with a so far unblemished record of 2-0. Folks let's give "Merciless" Mustafiq Rana a warm hawaiian welcome.

(Mustafiq struts into the stage waving and smiling to the audience. He walks over to Fred shakes his hand and takes his seat)

Freddy: Hey welcome to the show Mustafiq. How are you today?

Mustafiq: Feeling great thank you sir, training is going well and I can't wait for fight night.

Freddy: So Mustafiq your 1-0 in the UPF. You fought against Kashmire Gates, right? Did you ever feel that you might not win that fight? And did you expect him to defend the first five submission attempts?

Mustafiq: Honestly I thought whoever got the first takedown would probably go on to win the fight. We were very evenly matched and it was no surprise that he was tricky to finish...

(Pauses and thinks for a few seconds) There are very few easy fights at this level. (Smiles)

Freddy: Wow professionally put, I like that. Now I hear you've taken a fight against Twelve Knickerbocker "Pretty Good" and that fight is tomorrow. How do you see that fight panning out. Walk us through how you see the fight going. Are you at all worried about his boxing skills?

Charles Crawley Interview

Fighter profile of Charles Crawley by Callum McGregor

What: Joining me now is Charles Crawley, 2-0 and currently scheduled to compete at Highland Challengers 5 for the Light Heavyweight title. How does it feel to be in this position?

Crawley: It feels awesome to be in this position, but I'm trying to keep my feet on the ground. Yes, I know getting a title fight is a great honour and if I win I'm going to be the king of the mountain but I also need to face facts: Mel Gordon is a freaking machine and beating him won't be easy.

What: In your last fight, you were constantly seeking a stoppage but your opponent was more focused on avoiding punches and ducking under shots. This fight is sure to be the complete opposite. Do you feel that will open up more opportunities for you?

Crawley:  I can only hope that will be the case but that also means that I need to be more careful. I think we're pretty evenly matched so one mistake could cost either one of us the entire fight. To be victorious I&

UPF 3: Total Domination - Hard Knocks Arena - Hilo

Undercard

Clint "Head Bu$$er" Hester vs Cant "Think of A" Name - 185lbs

Really scrappy affair to start us off tonight, neither fighter managed to assert dominance over his opponent as both fighters seemed scared to over commit. Hester used good takedown defense and basic striking to take rounds 1 and 3 while Name managed to score 2 takedowns in the middle round without threatening anything meaningful.

Hester wins by decision (30-28 29-28 29-28)

Tobias Gibson vs Joe "Lone Wolf" Dever - 170lbs

A couple of early takedowns from Gibson put Dever on his back but things soon returned to the feet where Dever took control while cutting Gibson, a few sharp strikes followed by a nasty uppercut sent Tobias reeling with an additional series of punches forcing the ref to step in and save Gibson.

Dever wins by TKO (2:54 Rd1)

Brazilian "Matos" Army vs "The
