Renato Laranja Interview

Fighter profile of Renato Laranja by Callum McGregor

Interviewed by Jim What.

What: Joining me now is Bantamweight jiu jitsu sensation Renato Laranja. You've come a long way in your career Renato and have been in there with some of the very best competitors the division has had to offer. What is it that has kept you at the top for so long?

Laranja: First, my jiu jitsu: that's the art that really helped me getting to the top of HG. Second, my career as a comedian: it definitely boosted my popularity in the eyes of the fans so it got me huge fights, and it teached me how to take a loss (*laugh*)

What: Recently, one of the Highland Challengers guys, Hugh Janus, said you were his inspiration to begin mixed martial arts. Were you aware that you have been inspiring the next generation of fighters?

Laranja: Wow, I didn't know it... that's very cool! I know Hugh Janus is a great jiu jitsu player who just recently started his MMA career in Highland Challengers. I wish him good luck and hopefully after the Island season we can share some BJJ knowledge and some good jokes!

What: While you may focus a lot of energy into your

Tight Title Fight

Event Review: AD281: Hurtin4certain
Aggressive Damage
2015-05-24, Montreal, Belle Centre
Attendance:18,862, Event Rating:321
Author:Heri Doank

Felix "The Midnight Assassin" Basilan was the title holder with record 40-18-1. His contender was Kirk St Lazarus (25-14-0) who is 6 years younger and has better in boxing, Muay Thai, and much more wrestling. Another advantage for Lazarus is that he is shorter than Basilan that can be useful in ground fight. They hadn’t fought each other before.

The fight was planned for 5 rounds with 5 minutes for each round.

Lazarus tried to use his advantage in wrestling to take Basilan down soon after the 1st bell rung, but Basilan could push him away. Basilan knew he would be sucked if he accepted to play on the ground and preferred as counter fighter because he has advantage on reach and he done it well.

After a minute gone Lazarus succeed to take Basilan down and could maintain on top position for about 2 minute

Orpheus Boagrius Interview

Fighter profile of Orpheus Boagrius by Altair The Assassin

Rep: Hello Boagrius. How do you feel?

Boagrius: I have to say I feel like crap. First fight I wasn’t ready for it at all, but on this fight I was expecting to do a lot better.

Rep: What do you think happened there?

Boagrius: I trained well, but I fell apart. I don’t know if it was the pressure, or something else but I was a bit frightened to engaje and I paid for it.

Rep: What do you think about your opponent? And we’re you prepared for the ground game ?

Boagrius: I honestly think he’s a great fighter. He pretty much had the advantage on the feet, but wanted to get me to the mat and he succeded to end the fight with a sub. What should I say more than I’m verry dissapointed about my performance.

Rep: What is next for you?

Boagrius: Well I have

Chris "Martyr" Coath

Fighter profile of Chris Coath by Bjorn O'Donnel

MFN proudly announces the signing of the following top HW talent:

Chris "Martyr" Coath

10-0-0 with 10(t)KO wins
23 years young
ranked 10th at HW worldwide and at 71 p4p
When we met in Las Vegas to get him to sign his MFN contract, he was more than happy to drink a bottle of Aces of Spades with us to celebrate his contract. During the drink, I asked him a few questions.

Hey Chris. First of all, great fight yesterday! How did it feel to win against Don Diego and to stay undefeated ?

Thanks for having me. Man, Don is one hell of a tough customer; he'll get in there and shake down anyone, regardless of size. I really didn't know if I could keep the streak alive there but I got some good shots in near the end. I wish him the best wherever he signs to next.

You really don't seem to like the judges. Did you see a few fights from other fighters that went the wrong way when it was a decision, or do you just love finishing your opponents?

Definitely a little of both worlds. I've watched some heartbreaking losses along the way and hardly any of them had to do with finishers. Personally, I like to get in there and get the job done so there isn't a chance for that margin of error.

You are pretty much one of the biggest, if not the biggest , HW talent in the sport. How do you feel about that ?

Oh, I wouldn't say I'm quite there yet but I'm glad to see I have some fans in my corner. Its been a wild ride so far! I

Mick Shaw Q&A

Fighter profile of Kim Shaw by Alika Webb

Q: Dear martial arts fans today I will pay a visit to Mick Shaw. Mick last time we talked you mentioned that you signed a 5 fight deal with Immortals in New York City. You've since made your promotional debut but ended up short. How do feel about that?

Mick: It sucks. I had a lot to prove and I blew it, so I'm not feeling so good right now. But I'm not giving up now, I want to be a martial artist and I will do everything in my power to bite through this sour apple and get back on the winning track.

Q: I'm sensing a lot of regret on your part, but do you blame yourself or your opponent for your loss?

Mick: My opponent did what he had to do and I don't blame him one

We recently had an opportunity to sit down in the Cage and speak with Mr. Anthony Jones himself....

 [transcripts]

Mr Jones thank you for this opportunity to talk with you about your recent return and the CFA

Oh this is how it works, no need to thank me. I should be thanking you.

Sooo what happened? You was here, then poof! You was gone..... Now your back.

I had to take a brief leave of absence to finish my education. I know that was a little scary for my organization but hopefully I can bring my knowledge and savvy back to the MMA community and continue moving forward with plans. I lost a brother to the other world. He just couldn't juggle both and went with the lesser of the two evils. He will be missed but I h
