Yet another great card and yet another stoned commentator. Sorry about they delay, I got so high after the fights that I passed out before getting to my car. I woke up in a library for some reason... Anyway let's go over last night's fights:

Kingston Bartholemeaux (14-7) Vs. Gzrel "Devil Angel" Mephistopheles (5-2)

This wasn't just a battle of the long names. Yet another of RSM's rising stars what pitted against another veteran. Bartholemeaux being the more well rounded fighter, one would think he would try and take Mephistopheles down... But Bartholemeaux was determined to stand and bang. This was truly a three round slug fest that went back and forth, with Bartholemeaux coming out of top of most exchanges. Mephistopheles was persistent with the combos throughout the fight and that's what costed him. He was swinging too wide and too hard just looking for the KO, instead of trying to land solid strikes. Bartholemeaux's volume punching paid o

Fight Two: Light Heavyweight Division: Tycho Van Braam (0-0-0) vs. Samuel Jackson (0-0-0)
The next fight in the heavyweight division will be a very interesting one as two new fighters look to make a name for their selves in Amsterdam and in the UFL. As previously mentioned this fight looks like it’s going to be a very exciting one as these two men are very different fighters. Van Bram is a fighter that prides himself in his superior muay thai skills and will rely on keeping this fight standing and focusing on the clinch, knees and kicks in this fight. Jackson on the other hand is a good boxer, but an excellent wrestler. His wrestling abilities alone show he is a force to be reckoned with in the cage. Which one of these two men will leave Paddy’s Bar with a victory in UFL 1: Uprising?

Fight Three: Welterweight Division: Johnny Knoxville (0-0-0) vs. Ravel Williams (2-1-0)
This will be the first fight on the card featuring someone who has made their MMA Pro debut. Ravel Williams and Johnny Knoxville will square off in the cage. With Williams c

NFC 136: Glory vs. McTrigger Review

Event Review: NFC 136 Glory vs McTrigger
Nordic Fire Championship

Over 18,000 people filled Suomi International and nearly 100,000 more people watched via pay-per-view as the Nordic Fire Championship returned to Helsinki, Finland, site of NFC 136: Glory vs. McTrigger.  10 fights were scheduled on the 2/25/12 card that featured a main event wherein the NFC's Heavyweight Championship would be defended- Golden Glory would put his belt on the line against George McTrigger, a man who had only lost twice in his career.

The main card of the evening began with Osama Robins (27-11-0) facing Dan Jersey (12-5-0) in a middleweight tilt. Having last lost in September of the prior year, Robins was looking to build off a successful NFC debut over Hall of Famer and Finnish MMA legend Pasi Kullero by adding another victory against the 26-year old Jersey, who was making his NFC debut. Early on in the fight Jersey was able to score a takedown, but round two saw Robins drop the debutee with a stinging combination- though Jersey was able to survive the onslau

The Nordic Trenches

Fighter profile of Raimo Tikkari by Lock Down

Perhaps the most compelling and under rated warrior to ever walk the lands of Tycoon, Raimo Tikkari is a lightweight soldier you probably have never heard of before. While sporting an incredibly deceptive 11-12 professional record he continues to humbly fly under the radar of most keen observers. Tikkari has exclusively fought for the Nordic Fighting Championship for his entire career, an elite organization out of Helsinki which is home to some of the best competition in the world. The beginning of his fighting career was truly an uphill battle and a heart wrenching test of will. Struggling to find his place amongst his fellow combatants, he dropped 6 of his first 7 fights albeit to formidable opponents. Incredibly retaining an astounding level of optimism, the losses never deterred him from his passion to train and improve. The next 4 chapters in his career were all heart felt victories, 2 of which came inside the first rounds. He is notoriously difficult to finish and his opponent

Immortals INY - Challenger Series

Event Preview: INY - Challengers II
Immortals New York
2012-03-02, New York, Wild Bob's Bar - New York
Author:

Another installment of the Immortals “INY - Challenger Series” will be played out at Wild Bobs Bar on March 2nd. The card looks to be 10 fights that consist of two welterweight, four middleweight, one heavyweight, and three big nasty heavyweight clashes.

At the welterweight division (155lbs), Weston Remmington  VS  Michael Kijak.  Each fighter is 1-0, each fighter went the distance to win by decision. Remmington earned his win over another 0-0 newbie, while Kijak concreted his win versus a more experienced fighter via QFC.  Remmington is a “superb” at  MT, while Kijak is a “wonderful” boxer.  Both fighters are virtually the same in wrestling and bjj.  This fight will hinge on one single question, “How good is Remmington’s clinch?  Can he draw Kijak in and punish him, or will Remmington make minced-meat of Kijak in the effort?

The other welterweight bout pits Tohino Cerezo VS Corey Smith .  Cerezo brings a 3-3 record with him and carries a 6K history advantage over Smith who is 2-0. Both fighters have shown us “KO of the Night” and “Fight of the Night”.  Cerezo  possesses strong boxing skills and has ended all 3 of his wins with his hands. Smith has wonderful boxing skills, but actually scored a KO via a “knee” despite his useless Muay Thai. Cerezo has never been taken into deep water while Smith has gone the distance once. The white elephant in this fight is

An Interview With Jim Ironheart

Fighter profile of Jim Ironheart by The Beatles

Big Wax speaks with Jim Ironheart about his career so far and whats to come...

Big Wax: Whats up my man Ironheart how ya been?
Jim Ironheart: Ya kno trainin real hard like always , you should know of all people i rarely take a day off!

Big Wax: Haha yea i was just tryin to be formal. So anyways your just coming off your fifth professional mma bout and that puts you at a perfect 5-0 setting you up for the next shot at that NAF bantamweight championship belt. So can you talk us through that Schwetty fight and then talk a little about whats to come for Ironheart?
Jim Ironheart: Well id like to start off by just saying wow Schwetty is one tough brother trucker ill tell you what. After how he looked in his last fight i figured id get that finish easy as pie. I was wrong. I learned withen the first minute after getting hit cut and knocked down with a clean head kick outta nowhere that this was going to be a war.

Big Wax: So what was going through your mind after getting rocked like that?
Jim Ironheart: Hah yea somthing like wow i dont wanna get hit with another one of those. Haha yea it was tough but i still rallied back to win the first and then after that i was in cruise control. I hit him with everything but the kitchen sink and he was in there the whole time. Man i hit him clean with a spinning backfist and he just ate it like nothing. I have a deep respect for Schwetty.

Big Wax: Well congrats on the win , it was well deserved. So can you talk about that title shot and maybe talk about the NAF 19 main event?
Jim Ironheart: Well first of all I am the peoples champ , soon to be the real one ill make sure of that. Id just like to make that clear. But on a

Exciting vs Effective

Editorial by

One of the many problems facing new, and up-and-coming fighters is should they go for flashy highlight reel knockouts and submissions or stick to a solid game plan that insures a win. Lets take a look at the pros and cons of each.

Exciting. Obviously with an exciting reckless style you are going to have plenty of fans and add some nice highlights to your film, however with this runs several risks. If a fighter goes in guns blazing looking specifically for a flashy move he runs the risk of getting put on his opponents highlight reel himself or getting out worked by a fighter with a better game plan and more patience. Fighters want to entertain the fans but should it come at the risk of winning the fight.

Effective. Effective fighters know that a good game plan and patience will serve them well and in all likelihood get them the win. However many fans feel this style can sometimes be boring. So you can win the fight but not get as many fans had you gone for something a little more aesthetically pleasing to the crowd. You can build up a slew of solid wins but if you don't have the fans support you will always be stuck in the middle of the card.

Obviously the goal of every fighter is to find the happy medium between the two. Entertain the fans and win. This is much more difficult then it sounds however so just stick to what you are good at plan things out and the spectacular wins will come in time and so will the fans.

TTFC:A Tuesday Night Fights 2 Preview

Event Preview: TTFC:A Tuesday Night Fights 2
Ultimate Fighting Federation
2012-03-06, New York, Wild Bob's Bar - New York

Following the recent success of Tuesday Fight Nights 1 Team Thomas Fight Club: Amateurs returns to Wild Bob’s Bar on 6th March 2012 bringing with them Tuesday Fight Nights 2. Miyake Morimasa will be taking on the older and many could argue in his prime "The American Dream" David Cross in the main event of the night. In the co-main event of the night the very experienced Eddie O Hare is taking on Frederic Laurent.

Let’s have a look at the event and the fighters that are involved, where I will give my opinion on the fighters, the matchup and my prediction for the fight.

KUDOS FC 20 Preview!

Event Preview: KFC 20 Striker v Ducker
KUDOS FC (140K+ ID Org)
2012-03-03, Montreal, The Underground - Montreal
Author:Fredie Rose

Another big event is coming up, and that is KFC 20: Striker vs Ducker, which features some key match-ups that could potentially determine the first challengers for a few of the belts. Taking a closer look is Ernie White.

Starting off our main card we have two new signees that are trying to snatch their first career victories as 205ers Erastes Fulmen (0-1 MMA, 0-0KFC) and Shooter McDoogle (0-1 MMA, 0-0 KFC) meet. This is a classic striker vs grappler match-up and McDoogle will look to use his wrestling ability to neutralize Fulmen’s boxing. Fulmen will enjoy both a height and size advantage in this fight, and, in my opinion, is a much better boxer than McDoogle is a wrestler. He should stay at range and land lots of jabs and straights. McDoogle needs to get this one to the mat quickly, or he will be in for a long night.

My pick? Erastes Fulmen via (T)KO, round 1.

This next fight is at featherweight, between two pro-debuting 18 y
