GAMMA#674 Bryant v Mencken – November 18

155 title - Vladimir Emelienko (c) Vs Randy Springs

Considering these two strikers have such a similar style in that they prefer to outwork their opponents rather than taking chances in the hopes of a knockdown, it came as no surprise that this was a very even back and forth brawl. But one man took the lead on the scorecard early on and he looked hell bent not to let it slip from his grasp. With an iron will and an unstoppable armada of piercing blows Randy Springs was awarded the victory.

Winner: Randy Springs by unanimous decision.

265+ title - Gerbert Bryant (c) Vs HL Mencken

The list of people HL "Black Flag" Mencken has recently conquered reads as a list of people you never want to get into a bar fight with and since his arrival in Gamma he has been unstoppable. This made him a perfect challenger for the one man wrecking crew named Gerbert Bryant. Gerbert Bryant still had the heavyweight gold around his waist but that didn’t stop him from getting his super heavyweight crown back in an explosive rematch that served as the end of the trilogy with new rival Bubba Gumption. Now Bryant looked to defend it once again.

The fight did not go as champion Gerbert Bryant had planned as the challenger more than rose to the occasion. HL Mencken did a great job of keeping the fight standing and never let the champion forget who the better striker was throughout the fight. The real difference maker however came in round two when the challenger himself closed the distance and brought the pain to the champion until the referee pulled the raging maniac HL Mencken off his latest victim.

Winner: HL Mencken by TKO (strikes) after 3 minutes and 20 seconds in the second round.

GAMMA#675 Bubba v Gunnar – November 25

135 title - Karol Mirowski (c) Vs Zang Zhai

Undefeated since coming to Gamma but even so current bantamweight champion Karol Mirowski had a lot to prove in his very first title defense. The challenger Zang Zhai has won three out of his last four fights and looked ready to put Karol Mirowski to the test in this battle of the newcomers to the bantamweight title scene.

Karol Mirowski and Zang Zhai were striking, their attacks were fast as lightning.

Truth be told, the fight was a little bit frightening. As both men fought with expert timing.

They were two scrappy fighters from Gamma’s bantamweight division.

They were stirring things up and they did it with amazing precision.

It’s an ancient human tradition, that made everyone who paid for admission

go mental with a thirst for more, as the fight they witnessed could make no man snore.

Winner: Karol Mirowski by split decision.

145 title - Gareth Keenan (c) Vs Cullen Castrello

Gareth Keenan’s stock may not have plummeted but it has definitely taken a big hit, losing two superfights in his last four bouts. Cullen Castrello still felt the hunger for the gold as he keeps going to new divisions to find more championship success. This fight felt as the end of the road for one and a redemption for another and with the featherweight title on the line, the deck seemed stacked for an amazing fight.

Gareth Keenan showed no mercy in this kickboxing tit for tat battle. With a never ending army of strikes from all possible directions the champion kept outworking the challenger. Cullen Castrello had a clear strategy in mind but every time he failed to close the distance he looked more and more desperate and it showed in the rest of his performance. With his early attempts to take control of the fight failing, he never seemed to get back in the right frame of mind to possibly upset the champion.

Winner: Gareth Keenan by unanimous decision.

170 title - Lao Shin (c) Vs Bobby Shamrock

Lao Shin just recaptured the welterweight title but the fight was so close that it was ruled a majority decision by the judges at ringside. Another man with a lot to prove in his new championship reign but this time, he brought with him a lot more wisdom and experience. The champion needed that edge too as the challenger brought with him a drive to become the Gamma welterweight champion for the first time in his career and that was clear to see in his spirited effort to keep up with the champion.

Both warriors seemed to have a clear goal in mind and that was in both cases to take the fight to the clinch. It was also pretty easy to see that neither man was able to get the advantage in close quarters. No, the real fight for supremacy took place on the outside as the champion was sniping like a sharpshooter on a mission.

Winner: Lao Shin by unanimous decision.
