Slider Fu where are you?

I have been playing this game for a while now and it seems I just can not figure out the freaking sliders. I read about my fighters opponents and have read all the forum threads on sliders and still just do not get it. I get not to spam or be predictable and yet I lose. I have had so many new members join me either in The Steel Penn Alliance or in the Evil Empire and work with me for months who have reached #1 manager or the top ten while I continue to lose.

When I look at the once new members who started off with me then grow to top levels in this game it is a very impressive list of well known names.

So why do I not grow :weeping: You would think after years of being around top members I would get it right? Right? Well, not so much for me.

I have been creating a stable of young ground fighters with a few young strikers and it is always the same for me. My ground fighters get knocked out before a takedown can be achieved and my strikers just get knocked out.

Now all of the physicals are well trained and they all have top notch striking defense. But still my plan always fails. I have tried so many different ways to set these sliders after very aggravating loses. I have had Sensational wrestlers not get takedowns on competent wrestlers and lose. I have had high level Black belts get subbed by Purple belts.

Now in saying all of this the thing that upsets me the most is how my fighters are getting screwed because I suck at sliders. I create these fighters and give them top notch training, they grow and do unbelievable on their end of the deal. Then old Steel Penn steps in for their fight sliders and wrecks their careers.

So to not drag this on I would like to say openly that I could use some help from managers who have Slider Fu abilities help me learn or attempt to help me learn sliders. I know older members are not suppose to need mentors but that might just be what I need.

I would like to hire someone to help me learn. A private mentor who can make it their goal to try and help me reach the top 100 by years end with my current stable of fighters.

I know most all have a better feel for sliders then I do but would like the member I hire to be at least a former top 10 ranking to be considered. I look forward to learning.

I also look forward to the negative post from the forum trolls, thank you in advance for the bad vibes.

I not that great as well but can feel your frustration with ground fighters especially ,I think we all or since the last set of changes.Even jesus himself cant keep the fight on the ground without the ref standing it up.Yep i surprise you didn't try to bribe lance or bowser for tips yet :rolling: .Maybe for some of that sweet steel penn tycoon money i could give you some advice( you got to know when to hold then and know when to fold then know how to walk away and no when to run) :winner: :dancing: sorry cracking myself up here :guitar: .Yep bride the right people and you be slider fu expert in no time .

Some free advice do you keep notes?.i find if you keep notes on sliders for example my stand up fighter lost o this didn't work against a ground fighter okay .Okay i make a note of that and change my slider the next ground guy i be facing. If it a success or failure take a further notes etc etc hopes this helps .

Also one more note why don't you just focus on the fighting and setting sliders for a few months.Try other projects later ( orgs etc) when you get the sliders down to a tee.

for more advice tycoon cash baby.I would turn down some vip time either :shades:

I feel your pain Steel Penn, I'm in the same boat. I study all my opponents and go into every fight thinking I have set the perfect sliders but the struggle continues. I've had some decent hot streaks but right now I'm stuck in a rut. I'm hoping my new breed of fighters will take my game to the next level but time will tell. Sorry I can't help with your slider fu, just letting you know there are other vets out there with similar issues. I do feel like 2015 will be my year to break into the top 10 but I have to wait until my next gen fighters are ready. Good luck!

as dino stated its hard to stay up with the trends -- personally i wish the trends would change up little more often -- as it is there always seems to be a certain set of sliders that work best (or average set up) -- then sometimes it gets figured out and / or changes made to fight engine -- then it seems to be a find out what is best set up now -- personally i like when changes are made more often to fight engine cause it seems to keep the slider change fresh and no real era of this is best, such as leg kick era, counter era, body gas era, high aggression / accuracy era and so on -- if its kept stale for long enough to be come an era its been way too long since something as changed

also i feel your pain steel penn -- although i hardly ever do any game planning or reading others fights -- i more or less just look at their primaries and go with what i think i can do to them -- more of a offensive look at the fight then a defensive look

SP i need my own help with sliders, I lost to Rorydaly and Mr. Worldwide on the same day. Talk about messing up your fighters. I should set all all my fighters slider to SHIG and see where it takes them. Can't be any worse than what I am doing to them. :weeping:

See. I'm a winner.

I'm not saying this is the case for you SP, but I think much of the problem for people is build issues. I would say that 4 of the 5 fa's I pick up are poorly built fighters. IMO build>hiddens>>sliders when it comes to who is going to win a fight. However, if your sliders are outright horrible it throws the first two out the window.

A case in point is duphus. He was my mentee, but his slider style is pretty far apart from mine. But he does make very good builds in the vein that I taught him when he first started. Both of us consistently produce top guys even though our slider styles are pretty far apart.

Yeah it seems the slightest little detail in sliders can ruin a fight for you. I have also noticed that quite a few top managers fell off right after the last fight engine change which is a sign of not adjusting to the strengths of the new slider system.

The biggest issue I have seen is it's almost impossible to not have the ref stand the fight up unless you're dominating on the ground. This means incomplete grappling builds with basic striking are at the biggest disadvantage in the game. Especially submission specialists unless you have high GnP because submission attempts mean shit in scoring meow. Basically any shit builds that are ground specialist are fucked.

I know I don't have the best record with 26-29 but that's because I have done a shit ton of slider testing and bad fight accepts. I can't help the latter tho, the one time I tried to decline a fight I somehow subconsciously clicked accept. I think I am getting the hang of it though. At least I hope.

I haven't adjusted to the new changes well at all but it's not from a lack of understanding the mechanics of the game. My fighters have average hiddens that I was able to hide w/ 100 counter TD and how lopsided the engine was towards grapplers. Now that things have come back to the middle a bit more & it's not as easy to get fights to the ground, their lack of "special hiddens" is being exploited because I mostly fight in the top 3 orgs.

That's 1 of the main reasons I have become a part-time player recently. My fighters were exposed by the changes & 10 of my 11 active "big league" fighters are now either capped out or declining, so I have to go through a transition period. In a way it's good that my hand is being forced because I would just continue to try to overcome & really I need to update what I look for in a fighter a bit.
