Awesome Interviews / Smacktalk

Do remember, you can always check out the spreadsheet for all this information in one source!

Let's get this happening people!

How you can help:

- This is a community tournament (at least in my mind) which I'm happy to fund / run. However, if you wish to help through day to day running, tallying data, managing the spreadsheet or any other way, I'm down. Just message me!

- It'd be great to have a few decent main events on the cards. If you have a fighter who can do a superfight with us, message me, I pay well!

- There's no limit on awards! If you feel upto it, feel free to sponsor one!

- Missed the sign-ups? Substitutes will be required and will get in on the action. Plus, if you do well, I'll be biased towards subs for my picks even if your record doesn't let you qualify. That means you have a shot of moving on in the tournament regardless of when you qualify!

- Got a clothing or nutrition company? We could always do with some merch sponsors!

- Lastly, but most importantly, post interviews, smacktalk, etc here! This tournament is only as good as you guys make it to be. If you make it fun and exciting, it'll be all the more incredible!

Here's how it works.

- This will be a creation tournament. All fighters must be 25 years old. If you have any opinions, feel free to post it in the thread. Fighters must be created on or after the 4th of March. Any managers who have not created a fighter by the 10th of March can be removed from the tournament (at my discretion).

- All fights will take place in Los Angeles in the 265+ lbs division. You can make a fighter of any height and any weight, it's upto you.

- Please come up with interesting names / backstories for your fighters. This is not a requirement but it would make the tournament a lot more fun.

- There will be 64 fighters. If we hit the magic numbers of 72 or 80 before the 4th, I can bump up to them by increasing total fighters per league.

- There will be 8 leagues (or groups) of 8 fighters each. Each fighter will fight the other fighter in their group once. A win gets a fighter 3 points, a draw 1 point and a loss none. An NC or not accepting your fight results in -3 points. Fights will be once a week so I suggest you remember to tick that injury hidden. You will be expected to fight regardless of how bad your injury is.

- At the end of the group stage, the top two fighters from each league will advance. This will be based on total points for all the fighters. In case of a tie, the winner will be decided on the bases of things (in the following order): Wins, Head-to-Head Record, Fastest Finish (in the tournament, thanks to the EPL for this tiebreak idea). In the off chance that they are magically even in all these categories, things will be decided on a fight between the two of them. If someone they end up drawing that fight, I shall toss a coin to see who goes on, most probably after punching my computer screen in frustration. In total, we will have 18 fighters qualifying by this method. These fighters will get a one week break before the next round of the tournament.

- 4 more fighters from the unqualified ones will be selected by me. This will be based on my own opinions and will factor in a variety of factors like: performances, hype/pop, activity (on the forums), etc. So hell, if there is a fighter who constantly posts interviews and makes this tournament fun, I'd be likely to pick him. 4 other fighters will be picked from a poll on the forums. This poll will start being conducted a week before the final result of the tournament. These 8 fighters will fight each other for a spot in the final 20.

- The remaining 20 fighters will then participate in the second group stage, which consists of two 10-person groups. They'll fight each other in the same format as before and the top 3 from each group will go on and fight in a knock-out format to ultimately decide the winner.

- 2 more fighters from the unqualified ones will be selected by me. This will be based on my own opinions and will factor in a variety of factors like: performances, hype/pop, activity (on the forums), etc. So hell, if there is a fighter who constantly posts interviews and makes this tournament fun, I'd be likely to pick him. 2 other fighters will be picked from a poll on the forums. This poll will start being conducted a week before the final result of the tournament. These 8 fighters will fight each other in the playoffs.

- Do understand that this is not a short tournament. The first round will take 7 weeks with a week break in between and then another 9 weeks and knockout rounds a week each. The total time for the running of this tournament would be 20 weeks. Only if you are interested despite knowing how long it'll last should you join.

- Contracts will be for something like 24 fights at 500/500 to begin with. However, if the events are earning enough to make sure I don't end up taking huge losses at the end of the tournament, I will reneg the contracts after a few fights and increase fight pay uniformly for all fighters. Some fighters will end up being out of the tournament way before their total fights. If this happens, I will happily release them or re-neg them to a regular contract whereby they can continue fighting for a little in the org.

- The prize pool will drop by 30k for every fighter that drops out and be given to the person who agrees to make a replacement for that fighter. If no replacement can be found, 50k will be taken out of the prize pool. This is kept in effect so people think twice before signing up and then again before thinking of skipping out on the tournament. You will get a bad rep from a pool of 60 managers if you run out on the tournament.

- PLEASE REMEMBER THAT YOU HAVE TO ACCEPT A FIGHT EACH WEEK AND FIGHT EACH WEEK. THIS TOURNAMENT IS NOT FOR PEOPLE WHO MAY/MAY NOT BE ABLE TO BE THAT ACTIVE.

All that aside, the idea behind this whole tournament is to:

- have frequent, interesting fights.

- have a shot at winning a huge purse plus other prizes.

- be on an "even" playing field with other managers. fighters will be new creations and thus, weekly matchups will be very interesting. i doubt many fighters will truly be able to dominate the entirety of the tournament.

- most importantly, have a good time while doing all of this.

it has come to my attention that Dalston Marley stole Kylar Stern's lunch money. Dalston asked me to point that out to Stern's manager, and to tell him that he's still hungry. if Stern, or his manager, fails to provide Dalston with a ham sandwich (on wheat bread with sharp cheddar, no mayo, and dijon mustard) by noon tomorrow there will be repercussions. this is the first and only warning.

What if i desire to give him more than said ham sandwich say five or 6 ham sandwiches (with the toppings previously specified) the size of a fist would that be an acceptable exchange?

There's been a lot of demand for a fresh thread so well, here you go people.

If you make it fun and exciting, it'll be all the more incredible!

waitaminute here, does your guy have ham sandwiches for hands, similar to the kid on The State that had bologna sandwiches for feet??? (i'd post the vid but they're all blocked here at work)

no he secretly has 6 hidden limbs that are ended in things shaped like sandwiches.

*While doing our interviews for the entire League of Leagues roster, few were harder to get in touch with than Brad Helix. Part of this is due to JBomb's new

"Closed Camp" rule, but most of it is due to Helix's obsession with training. We literally had to stalk him just to get a few words. We finally caught him

outside of the gym, at Lowe's, of all places. He was with his brother Bryant and luckily for us, he was in a good mood.*

Reporter: "Brad, what can you tell us about the upcoming phenomenon known as the 'League of Leagues'?"

Bryant: "Dude's crazy for fightin' every fuckin' week! Fuckin' crazy! They gonna..."

Brad:...*rolls eyes*..."Bryant...BRYANT! No one asked you, man. Go get the car."

Bryant: "WHAT!?"

Brad: "Jesus, man...do ya gotta make a big deal of everything? Just go get the fuckin' car!"

Bryant: "..."

Brad:...*glares*..."..."

...*Bryant leaves the store*...

Brad: "Sorry 'bout that. Bryant can be a...well, spaz."

Reporter: "I have a little brother, too. Anyways..."

Brad: "Oh yeah. League of Leagues...I don't know if it's anything phenomenal or not. I do know it's a lot of fighting, for people that like to fight. In that

regard, it just makes sense. Weekly fights, big prizes, lots of recognition, who couldn't go for somethin' like that, right?"

Reporter: "Any worries about injuries or cuts? It's one thing to just be an 'ironman', it's another to be expected to be one."

Brad: "Well, as any other fight, or physical sport for that matter, injuries are an issue. Football players play hurt, basketball, hockey...they all do what

they gotta do. It's no different here. Sure, we generally get a lot of rest and training in before a fight, but if one of you come in injured, it's better that the other

comes in injured as well, right? I mean, double negative n' all that."

Reporter: "That makes sense, from a certain standpoint, but to the fans...you think the fans want to see two guys fight with blown out knees and broken

hands? Don't forget the injuries that you just can't perform with. What about those?"

Brad: "Well, I'm sure if a dude can't go, he can't go."

Reporter: "You come from one of the most well known wrestling families in the southwest. Tell us about yourself and your family."

Brad: "Are we gonna be long? Like, should i pay for my stuff first?"

Reporter: "Sure, I can meet you outside."

...*Helix goes through the checkstand and walks out with a full cart*...

Brad: "There, now I ain't gotta stand there with all that shit. So you want the rundown on the Helix fam?"

Reporter: "Yeah...it doesn't have to be a novel or anything, just where you come from...what you're about."

Brad: "Well, my dad was a wrestling coach at Northern Arizona University for a long time. That's why we live in Arizona really. He and my mom were originally

from a small town called Lancaster, in Ohio, but moved out here when he got the NAU job. Eventually, the school ditched the program and he made the move to

Arizona State. Bryant used to get a kick out of fuckin' with my older brother, Bobby, about going to state college. Fact is, Bobby could've went anywhere he

wanted, he was that good, but he chose to go to ASU 'cause that's where our dad coached."

Reporter: "It's a shame...about your brother..."

Brad: "Yeah, man...it is. He knew what he was gettin' into though. I honestly think that Bobby would've preferred to die in the cagem the way he did, rather

than die in some hospital at 90 years old. He was just that kind of dude...loved wrestling. Anyways, after the resurrection by Mr. Terror, he was never the

same. It wasn't Bobby...it was zombie Bobby and zombie Bobby sucks."

Reporter: "So why didn't Bryant go to ASU? Why did he choose Arizona University? Also, did you go to college?"

Brad: "Bryant is the rebel, the spastic rebel, of our family. Everything he did was to spite Bobby. He hated the fact that Bobby was the oldest and got a lot

of attention. He really regrets it now but back then, it was totally different. He's just a lot more immature than the rest of the family. Oddly enough, he's

by far the most talented in the family. My dad was crushed the day Bryant told him he wasn't going to ASU. My dad really wanted to coach him there. The only

thing that really made it better was Bryant winning it all at Nationals. We were all very proud, especially my dad.

I didn't go to college. At the time, money was more important, so I started up a drywall business in Tempe. In my spare time, I'd practice with Bobby and my

dad. Then Bobby got busy with school, so I'd practice with Bryant at his gym, then he left for school, so I started going to this gym in Tempe and began

boxing. Turns out, I'm a better boxer than I am a wrestler. Go figure..."

Reporter: "So you're the middle brother?"

Brad: "Yeah...kinda...it goes Bobby, rest in peace, me, Bryant, Brett and Billy. Me and Bobby were about a year apart, same with Bryant and Brett, and then

Billy is quite a bit younger. He's still in high school. Bobby was the golden boy, I'm not even sure what I am, Bryant is the spastic one, Brett is tough guy

and Billy's the baby. Bryant and Bobby are the best pure wrestlers, Bryant probably edges all of us in overall skill and ability. He just needs to get focused

and get it together.

Reporter: "So you're all into MMA?"

Brad: "Oh yeah, dude. We live this shit. Me and Brett have done a lot of training together in the past, so we get the wrestling from dad and the boxing from my old gym

in Tempe. Now we're both signed with JBomb and we're in Vegas at Primal Concrete Gym, possibly the greatest ground game gym in the world. We get

to train with Agrabah, Cox and LaVey regularly...and on special occasions, Christian Slaughter stops by for a session or two. It's amazing to be finally

doing this as my job.

Once this League gets going, I'll be stayin' out in L.A. and workin' out at Brutal Brotherhood. That's just too much flyin' for me to handle. I'd like to get

as much gym time as I can."

...*Bryant pulls up in the car and honks. Brad loads the bags into the trunk and tells him to wait a bit longer*...

Reporter: "Thanks for your time, Brad."

Brad: "No problem, dude. Come find me in a few weeks...should have a few fights done by then."

...*Brad jumps in the car and they speed off*...

Kylar Stern is hard at work at Brutal BRotherhood taking on all challengers in preparation for his bout with Dalston Marley by taking on everything from bears and mountain lions to fighters like Budo Rei and Jamie Gold as he made a stop there after his victory this past weekend. I managed to drag Kylar away from a heavy bag for an interview.

Red: Thank you for taking time out of your fight preparations to speak with us.

Kyler: Won't you guttershites of a group of people learn to leave a wetboy alone, oh Nysos in heaven.

Red: Uh well, I-

Kylar: Spit it out you guttershite i dont got all day to speak with you, i got contracts to fill and deaders to make.

Red: Well uh, what is your background in marital arts?

Kylar: I am a mix of Bruce Lee, some guy my manager brags on and on about, and the no holds barred tatics of a wizened street fighter. I hit you before you and we have no problems.

Red: Then how do you explain your defeat in your professional debut?

Kylar: Well like some loudmouth king of all cans, according to my manager at least says, Kid Torres, it was an early stoppage homie. I can't lose i got that auto win thing in the bag.

Red: So in all seriousness, what do you plan on doing against Marley?

Kylar: Kill him before he kills me. He is my first deader on my way to this silly tournament things title. Nobody will stop me, cuz im immortal bitches!

Red, a little unsettled begins looking around as he sees a bunch of caged tigers, bears, loins, and mountain lions. Kylar notices Red looking at them and chuckles evilly.

Kylar: You scared homie?

Red: Just a bit, why are they here?

Kylar: They are my sparring partners, mere humans did not present enough of a challenge so we brought in wild animals for me to lose as sparring partners instead. Sadly though, they dont put up anymore of a fight then humans do. However, they certainly hurt a lot more to be hit by.

With that, Kylar walks off back into the cage where a lion in brought in and set loose on Kylar, he easily dips and doges the crazed lion's attacks before dispatching it with a beautiful combination working the lion's legs before finishing it. Kylar laughs manically and waves to his manager for another victim. Red thinks to himself, that dude is fucking insane.
