  1. I am a simple man. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fouGlSzm5-w
  2. Bingo! But that is not an accident. Especially "octagon control" and "aggression" can be very wishy washy. Same for "effective striking". What does constitute effective striking? When do you value accuracy higher than volume and vice versa? It all lies in the eyes of the beholder. If a fight is even just somewhat close, you can almost justify any scoring blunder. In boxing they do it all the time. XD When the fight was over, I instantly knew that Jones had it. He looked way stronger towards the end. And if somone is as dominat a figure as him, no promoter will let him be beaten by just a smidgeon. You either beat a guy like Jones convincingly or not at all. Not saying that it's fair. But that is the score, when you are pitted against one of the golden boys. Be it in boxing or in MMA.
  3. "More skills to build a grappler." Yeah, that's true. They need to cover more bases, as far as their secondary skills are concerned.
  4. Jip, but it is also completely natural. When fighters bring in the big bucks, they get the special treatment. I think Diaz is next. @ Rambo What makes you believe, that McGregor vs Mayweather II is a viable option? Their first outing wasn't even close, though Mayweather tried hard to make it seem that way.
  5. Grapplers most certainly were over-powered, from what I hear. But now it is the other extreme. Just look at the p4p rankings. Hardly any grapplers in sight. The game is still unbalanced. Only in a different way.
  6. These are some meaty weight discrepancies. But I am not much one for these debates on fantasy fights, that are just too wild or impossible to ever happen. The truth is either in the cage/ring or nowhere. So I'll tackle this thing in a more general sense. If one of the big guys lands early, the boxer will be fucked. Especially Mayweather Fedor would be a crazy weight discrepancy. And yes - as stpierrecanada pointed out - a heavyweight running into super heavyweight is not the same as a featherweight running into a heavyweight. The relative (!) weight and also size discrepancy is just MUCH bigger, when the latter occurs. HOWEVER (assuming boxing rules) If this skull splitting hit doesn't come through like in the first three rounds, all MMA guys will be in trouble. The output, accuracy and the hand speed in boxing are something else. MMA doesn't even come close. Needless to say that the striking game in boxing is governed by a drastically different framework (in every sense). I still have to chuckle, when I think about some fight fans, who thought before the McGregor Mayweather hype job, that McGrergor may actually have a chance. He never did. And Mayweather demonstrated that in no uncertain way, when he walked him down for three rounds without throwing a damn punch. There may be two or three weight discrepancies in your selection of fantasy fights, that could prove to be sizable enough for the MMA guy to bridge the gap by way of bulk, power and reach. But if it was to happen, it better should happen quickly. Either that or it wouldn't happen at all. And the problem is that any world class boxer (or anything close there to) would know this as well.
  7. A talented asshole, no doubt. But that doesn't absolve him of some responsibilities. At this point his exploits outside the cage tower over whatever he accomplishs in there. Rarely have I seen so much talent be wasted on such an idiot! He pissed hot for the same shit in roughly the same concentartion! He hasn't changed one bit.
  8. That's possibly the difference between microdosaging done wrong and done right. Plus, with the fight being so close now, he would be an idiot to be on anything detectable ..... YET again! Seriously, by now I don't trust this guy any further than I can spit. And all this talk about him pissing hot being leftovers from the test, that he luckily has already been punished for ...... BULLSHIT! What way of knowing that would they possibly have? Do these metabolites have a stamp that is showing their production date? Turinabol, even with state of the art, modern testing, is undetectable after about six months! Because it's residues are gone by then. So where is that shit supposed to even come from after about 18 months? The dude was microdosaging and he fucked it up! That is how this is looking to me. The UFC is desperate to polish up it's numbers for 2018. That is why they need this main event so bad, that they went from "Jon Jones will never headline again" to moving an entire event, just because of him. Fuck this guy!
  9. I watched Annihalation (2018) under the impression, that it was a horror movie. Something that it didn't turn out to be at all. But it had a good cast, was beautifully shot and made for an interesting story. Well worth a watch. 8.5/10 Also, Wildling (2018) ..... this one is tough. It is really good up until a certain point. Unfortunately, what was supossed to be the finale of the film, was really bogged down by non-existant choreography, just completely disjointed scenes as a direct result of this and a character twist in what turned out to be the antagonist, which wasn't explored or portrayed in a believable way at all. It was just shoe-horned in there, because a bad guy was required. This really brought a movie down, which should have been much better. 5.5/10
  10. What about Nick Diaz, who chose to loiter away what might have been his physical prime and best earning years? Certainly not the biggest downfall, but a pityful one nonetheless. Oh, and losing his last three straight (or two, if we consider the NC), means he hasn't won against anybody since 2011. That is just fucking tragic! He is like the ultimate "almost man" of MMA.
  11. I see what you mean, but I always found Bob Sapp to be too much of a show act. If anything, competitive reality caught up with him. Also, he seems to be very willing to fight local heros and play the big, black villain coming over to lose. So I genuinely wander about how legit some of his losses are.
  12. Conor McGregor? Naaaaah ..... he lost against one of the best boxers this side of the year 2000. In a fight, where hardly anybody gave him a chance to begin with. Then he lost against a guy, who is unbeaten WELL into his MMA career and one of the best grapplers in the history of the sport. I think McGregor just got complaicant. He is filthy rich now and is seeking other options. Remember how he said, that he doesn't "need to be here" in the presser with Khabib? Compare that with the old McGregor, who was confident to a fault and always very present in these situations, absoloutely on top of the ongoing conversations about his next fight and /or opponent. Says a lot about where his mind is. Even Kavanagh publically advised him to hang 'em up. McGregor has no desire to compete anymore. It's obvious. How about Mark Kerr. His decline was tough to watch.
  13. Ah, the sweet smell of internet beef. Only politics can deliever that. ^^
