CEC 173 : Fire It Up Preview

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v96/Goliath764/DanielCano.jpg

This report is brought to you by Artais.

After the typhoon, CEC continues to fire it up with another event to double the fun of this weekend. With two title fights in this card, this is definitely one heck of a Sunday.

HW: Big "Buff" Young(6-1, 1-0 CEC) vs Pera Kuukkeli(12-10, 3-2 CEC)

Young's second fight in the CEC is one huge test for him because Kuukkeli is a very good fighter that lacks consistency. Well, you can say that he has consistency since he is always having a streak, be it a winning streak or a losing streak. Now after too many loses, he is back to the ground and look to fly up to the sky once again. His "wings" are definitely the striking and also his always good ground game. Young has very good ground game as well but I would give it to Kuukkeli for his experience. Still, there's a good chance Young can grab this one.

Prediction: Kuukkeli, submission.

SHW: Aalio "Scarface" Paalio(13-12, 0-1 CEC) vs Hank "The Tank" Holmes(3-4, 0-2 CEC)

A win inside the CEC cage awaits either of them tonight and if they want to stay in CEC, they really need to get things done tonight. This is definitely going to be an exciting battle as we are likely to see two huge beasts throwing killer blows toward each other and with their tendency of losing by knockouts and also finishing with knockouts, I am 98% certain that one of them are getting knocked out. Both of them are very good in boxing so this is all about punching and who hit the first few clear shots are likely to take it.

Prediction: Paalio, KO.

MW: Pena Hirmu(13-12, 2-3 CEC) vs Marc Tong Panong(15-13, 3-2 CEC)

A striker vs grappler bout between two journeymen, this is going to be fun thanks to their experienced approach to the fighting game. They have been inside the cage for too many times and will not do stupid and silly mistakes so this one is definitely going to be technical. Marc's boxing is definitely not in the level to trouble the boxing elite like Hirmu but Hirmu must be able to defend Marc's takedowns if he wants to connect with his punches. Judging by their career, Marc has a weak chin and Hirmu is one tough fighter to finish so I will give the slight edge to Hirmu.

Prediction: Hirmu, KO.

LW: Randall Garrison(16-7, 5-3 CEC) vs "Flying High" Sevent Seagull(6-1)

Seagull's nickname indicates that he is flying real high but he is definitely not high in the ranking unless he steals the momentum away from Garrison. If he can do that, he will be on a shortcut to fame inside the CEC cage but Garrison has a four win streak going and he will not give Seagull an easy win for sure. Garrison relies on his ground game to get through his enemies and his last two wins were all by submission. There's no way Garrison wants to stand with Seagull but his lack of striking game can be a problem since Seagull has good sprawl and don't really have too much pressure on trading punches with Garrison. Seagull is definitely in trouble if this one goes down to the ground but no one are able to bring Seagull down so far so Garrison needs to work extra hard for a takedown if he wants to keep his streak going.

Prediction: Seagull, decision.

LHW: Frank Macey(10-2) vs Johannes "Atlas" van Bruggen(12-5-1, 2-2 CEC)

The FWI LHW champion decided to test the standard of MMA in Helsinki and he is given van Bruggen to test his hands on. Despite a rather mediocre stay in CEC, van Bruggen is more than enough to give anyone some troubles thanks to his well-rounded style of fighting. He is not the best finisher or even a good finisher but his ability to outwit and outscore an opponent is awesome. Macey's striking is not as good as van Bruggen in my view but his ground game is slightly higher on the chart. He rarely submit someone though in his last few battles so I think this is going to be a three rounds warfare that is full of action be it standing or on the ground.

Prediction: van Bruggen, decision.

MW: Leo Sarsola(8-5, 5-4 CEC) vs Bunny "Wailing" Wailer(9-5, 2-2 CEC)

Both men are doing so-so only as of the last few months but a win now can be the intro to a great run. Sarsola has been going to decision for quite some time now but in his last fight, he returned to his root by getting a knockout(albeit a little late) win over Gunnar Nelson. Wailer isn't bad either, his two loses are against the top guys so there's nothing much to be ashamed about. Striking-wise, I will give the edge to Wailer for his better usage of muay thai and being a better boxer than Sarsola. Clinch, Wailer is definitely the better man unless Sarsola surprises me tonight since Wailer has displayed his clinchwork much more than Sarsola. The ground is Sarsola's world though thanks to his BJJ black belt and great wrestling. His ground attacks are mostly ground and pound and those are no joke so keeping it standing will definitely on Wailer's to-do list.

Prediction: Sarsola, decision.

FW: Diego "Lighting" Samburgerhio(11-7, 3-1 CEC) vs Paul "The Apex" Martin(8-4, 1-0 CEC)

Martin's debut doesn't impress the crowd by a lot since it is a merely 29-28 decision so The Apex better brings out his A game tonight as he squares off against Lightning Samburgerhio. Samburgerhio relies mostly on his ground game and that along has brought him two submission wins recently, one by triangle armbar and another by kimura. Martin is versatile enough to stand or go to the ground but I would not go to the ground if I were him since Samburgerhio is just too dangerous down there. Look for Martin to use his boxing, get closer into the range and tag Samburgerhio hard. Of course, it is my guess on his game plan and it might not happen but I think Martin will include his striking in this one since it is his advantage. Samburgerhio better find a chance to take Martin down or he will have problem getting his offense on.

Prediction: Martin, decision.

LHW: Mauri "Destroyah" Saarinen(14-7-1, 5-2-1 CEC) vs Maxi Uzi(7-3, 6-3 CEC)

After a rather average start in CEC, Saarinen gave his nickname justice as he started his domination and destruction since CEC 125 as he broke Marco Tammipuomi down with a cut and then started his launch to the top of the ladder with three more TKO wins against the like of Jones Junior and Possu The Pumpkin. Uzi is definitely on the same boat and his submission continues to help him to get to title contention. Since both men love the ground as much as their girlfriend or wife, I don't think the standup is going to be long. On the ground, Uzi needs to make sure he protects his chin from the destructive ground and pound of Saarinen while trying to get a submission in and he must be ready to fight on his back since Saarinen is likely to get the takedown before him as a wrestler.

Prediction: Saarinen, KO.

WW Title: Martti "Koirankives Seipään Pääss" Molo(19-10-1, 4-2 CEC) vs Cappadonna Frappuccino(14-7, 13-7 CEC)

After losing the superfight against the LHW champion, Viiksi Tolonen, Molo is back to his beloved WW to take on Frappuccino, who wants to take back his belt after waiting for 120 events. With both men being superior strikers of the sport, I don't think this is going to settle in other way aside from a straightforward brawl to the death. I will definitely give the edge to Molo for his godlike level of striking and he always mix a lot of strikes to make sure his opponent cannot figure him out. Frappuccino might be a great striker but his hope lies only in his hands and he lacks the understanding of kicks, which might be a problem for this match. If Frappuccino can use his hands to full extent then he definitely stand a chance but I think Molo is the one that has the full grasp of striking.

Prediction: Molo, decision.

MW Title: Pao "Sifu" Ling(17-2 CEC) vs "Brain Surgeon" Blake Edwards(13-1 CEC)

Edwards is ready and tonight, he will be facing the master in a rematch to try to avenge his lose and claim the MW title once and for all. In their previous bout, both men fought hard but Ling showed that his technique and physique were just beyond Edwards at that point, claiming an rather one-sided unanimous decision to close the clash. Edwards recovered well though, not giving himself another lose as he defeated both Bunny Wailer and Leo Sarsola to get back to the top. If you ask me how would I approach this match if I were Edwards, I would go for more takedowns and make sure I stay down there for more than the previous bouts and also try to get this into the clinch. Ling outstruck his opponent like 95% of the time and Edwards, not being the best of the best in the striking department, should avoid striking with Ling. Ling's plan is much simple to do since he just needs to stay standing and hit Edwards with limitless punches and kicks. Can Edwards avenge his only loss or Ling will solidify his name as the only man(as of now) to defeat Edwards twice in his prime?

Prediction: Ling, decision.

CEC 221 : Take Up The Gauntlet

Preview

155lbs : Torsten Ostergaard (10-7, 2-3 CEC) v Olof Orkidea (8-6, 2-2 CEC)

An important fight for both of these guys as neither of them have shone since their arrival but they have shown they are capable of winning. They have skills, of that there is no doubt but potential is worthless if you don't do anything with it. A tough one to call could lead to a very entertaining fight.

185lbs : Alexander Maynard (18-9, 18-9 CEC) v Jan Columbar (11-6, 0-1 CEC)

Maynard is an exceptional talent, we all know this, lately he has found it tough to win though and is on a three fight losing streak. He is capable of ending your night early but he can also grind you down over the course of the fight, he has never been stopped. Columbar is also a great fighter on a bit of a losing streak, he is more of a decision fighter, look at his record and you will see that only four of seventeen fights have not went the distance. Maynard may have the better hands while Columbar boasts the grappling edge. I expect a full three rounds of back and forth action.

205lbs : Johannes van Bruggen (18-9-1, 8-6 CEC) v Bunny Wailer (14-10, 7-7 CEC)

Van Bruggen has made it to that title fight twice in CEC and came home unsuccessful twice. What will a change in manager bring to the table for him? A fresh approach may be what is needed for him to take that final step from contender to champion. Wailer made a change recently when he went from 185lbs to 205lbs, it didn't start too well when he dropped a decision to Sluggo Brott but he bounced back with a nice head kick ko in his last outing. Both have ability on the ground but I imagine this one will be all stand up.

145lbs : Ralph Gracie (11-4, 4-3 CEC) v Chris Snorodecki (14-10, 1-3 CEC)

Snorodecki looked as though he was going to have a short CEC career when he lost his first three fights here but a demolition job in his last fight gave evidence as to why he was signed in the first place, now he just needs to keep the momentum going. Gracie will cause him problems if he can't repeat the feat and put him away early, on the ground there will surely be only one outcome because if it isn't the slick submission game of Gracie then it will surely be the ground and pound that comes with it. How many times do you hear styles make fights?

170lbs : David Lemieux (24-10, 0-0 CEC) v Steve Collins (20-11-1, 3-2 CEC)

Be careful what you wish for! Steve Collins took a bit of time off, had some management and training issues but now he is back and ready to continue his CEC career. His last fight saw him knocked out in a little over a minute and some wondered if we would see him back, well he is and he requested a match up with CEC new boy Lemieux. Now CEC fans know little of him but one thing we all know is that this guy finishes fights. A career spent fighting some tough opponents and knocking most of them out, I am not saying this isn't winnable for Collins but it is going to be an incredibly tough fight after his long layoff.

185lbs : John Slade (14-5, 4-2 CEC) v Ten Red Gym (10-4-2, 4-3-2 CEC)

Slade has lost only twice since joining CEC, the latest being to the 185lbs king Leo Sarsola and the other was to the man he faces here. At CEC 198 he was outclassed and then knocked out by Ten Red Gym, something that doesn't happen very often. Gym hits hard though and he uses that to great effect, even when you think he is up against a superior skilled all-rounder you still wouldn't bet against the ko power he has. Slades wants to avenge the loss, Gym wants to prove last time was no fluke, this could be an absolute belter.

170lbs : Mulroon Deforz (17-10, 13-5 CEC) v Kalle Kala (19-9, 3-1 CEC)

Deforz had won five on the bounce when he met champion Pao Ling in their title bout, unfortunately for him, Pao was in no mood to relinquish the 170lbs crown. It was his third shot at taking the belt and a third disappointment, now he is looking to hit back and go on another run to the title. Kala will have other ideas though. He lost on his CEC debut but has went on a three fight win streak since then and will want to make it more. Deforz looks to have an advantage standing with his better Muay Thai but Kala knows he is the better skilled on the mat, that doesn't mean he wont stand and bang. Both can end the fight via knockout and may fancy their chances in doing so.

265lbs : Mr Mrs (9-2, 1-2 CEC) v Kalle Kujansuu (16-6, 1-0 CEC)

Mrs arrived at CEC undefeated but just because he has lost twice from three fights since signing up doesn't mean he doesn't belong here. Those two losses were to guys that rank up there with the best in the world, no shame in that. Problem is that he faces another guy in Kujansuu that could soon be considered one of the best, especially if he were to take a win here. We have two knockout specialists that will look to take each others head off, Mrss has something else though, a stunning ground game that he doesn't seem to use. It is an advantage but is it one that he will try to use? He has to get him to the ground first and maybe that will be the tricky part. I see a stand up punch fest here but it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong.

170lbs Title : Pao Ling (26-6, 26-6 CEC) v Mauri Alavaara (26-16, 14-8 CEC)

Ling was considered untouchable by many for a while there, champion in three divisions, to fight him was almost a guaranteed loss on your record but then it went a bit wrong for him. A number of manager changes and two lost titles, things were looking grim. He bounced back though and defended his one remaining title while cementing a good relationship with his current manager. Now he takes on a guy that he has beaten twice before but that was a long time ago. Alavaara is in his second stint in CEC, his first went well enough as he earned the title for a short period but a dominant Ling made him look elsewhere for employment. Now he is back and looking better than ever, will it be third time lucky against Ling? He has the skills but is it enough to beat a legend?

185lbs Title : Leo Sarsola (17-9, 14-8 CEC) v Sergi Lutsenko (19-8, 5-1 CEC)

Our Main Event for the evening is for the 185lbs title and will be the first defence by Sarsola. These guys have faced off twice before and they own one win each from those fights. Back at CEC 198 it was Lutsenko that came out on top with a 30:27 scoring from all judges, earning him the unanimous decision. Sarsola hasn't lost since that fight, going on a run of six straight wins that included himknocking out Gunnar Nelson to take the title and a rematch with Lutsenko at CEC 212 where he got a takedown in each round and controled the fight to earn a 30:27 from all judges. So at one each, this is the most important of their bouts against one another as this time it is for the 185lbs strap. Can Sarsola defend successfully and continue his impressive run or will Lutsenko get revenge over the only man to defeat him in his CEC career?

CEC 222 : Altercation

Preview

145lbs : Le Petit Criss v Kenneth Lucas

Cris makes his debut here against a fighter that is 0-1 in CEC. He arrives with a good record but the majority of his career has been spent in Canada, he knows how to finish a fight and can do so by knockout or submission. Lucas had a disappointing start to his CEC run, knocked out in under half a minute, he knows he needs to improve on that and now is as good a time as any. Criss has the advantage standing and is also slightly better on the ground, Lucas will need to use his wrestling superiority wisely and ensure if it goes to ground he defends well.

155lbs : Balu Baluu v Gerard Mullins

Baluu has looked good in his two outings since his arrival here as he has earned solid decision wins in each, this may prove to be a trickier fight though when he goes up against a wrestler that has the ability to get him to the ground and keep it there. Mullins has had mixed success going 2-2 in CEC, he is a decision machine with 13 of his 16 overall record wins going the distance. Baluu obviously knows how to earn a decision too and this one could go to the wire.

170lbs : Surfer Dude v Tony Tombstone

Dude likes to knock people out and so far in his career has shown he is pretty good at it, his only CEC fight to date ended with his hand raised and a knockout added to his 'W' column. Tombstone is 1-1 here, he lost his debut fight when he was knocked out towards the end of the second round but he bounced back with a solid decision win in a fight that many doubted he could win. He has a clear advantage on the ground where his bjj skills may come in handy, getting it there may be the hard part and if he can't then Dude may just add to his ko record.

170lbs : Cappadonna Frappuccino v Joe Garelli

Twice a former 170lbs CEC champion, Frappuccino has lost his way a little of late, being knocked out in his last three fights. Let's not count him out though as these guys are some of the best guys we have at CEC. He will want to rectify this situation quickly though before it really gets out of control, a losing streak is tough to break. Garelli started poorly and lost his only fight to date here, again it was against top of the tree opposition so no shame in it. He will look to use his advantages in wrestling and bjj to earn a win while Frappuccino will probably need to look to win this one via ko.

170lbs : Seppo Susikasi v Groomph Baenre

Susikasi is a good all round fighter making his debut here. Doesn't matter where the fight takes place, he has proven he knows how to win from there. Baenre lost his first three fights via a ko of some sort and was probably looking to find new employment elsewhere but a ko of his own brought about another chance for him to prove he has what it takes at this level of competition. He will want to make this a stand up war and avoid it going to the mat if he stands a chance of making it two in a row.

265lbs : Clyde Turner v Alexey Rykov

This fight could be one of the greatest stand up fights seen in the cage. Two guys that love nothing better than to put someones lights out for them face off against each other. Turner opened his CEC account with an exceptional knockout and would love to go on a run from here. Rykov looks dangerous at all times but his career since joining us has taken a bit of a downturn, 2-5 is not a record anyone wants and it is time for him to show us all again why he was once considered one of the most feared strikers in mma.

265lbs : Lewis Creed v Richard Vargtass

More excitement guaranteed in the 265lbs division when another two big hitters come head to head. Again we have knockout power from both sides with a massive 23 ko stoppages between them. Creed is 2-0 since signing with us, Vargtass started slowly but we have definitely witnessed flashes of his exceptional talent he possesses. I can't see this one going anywhere near the ground but maybe that is where one guy can shock the other?

205lbs : Viiksi Tolonen v Tommi Hartola

What can you say about these two fighters really? Tolonen dominated 205lbs and 265lbs for some time winning bot titles, Hartola took over at 205lbs for a while also becoming champion there. This is going to be their fifth time facing off and they currently hold two wins apiece. Three of the four have went the distance with Hartola the only winner by stoppage, this will be the first time it has not been for a title and also the first three round fight between them. Both lost their last fight so a win is a must, I expect yet another fantastic fight between two true legends of the sport.

265lbs : Kaarlo Vihtala v Stu Ungar

Vihtala is basically the "almost man". He goes on good solid winning streaks and just when it looks like greatness beckons something goes wrong. Well this is the ideal time to set it right, a win here equals his best run in CEC and would finally put him where he should be which is at the top of the pile in this division. The problem is that he is facing Stu Ungar, 4-1 in CEC and is like a wounded animal after recently losing his title, a win takes him right back to that title you would think and a chance of avenging his only loss here in CEC. Are we looking at anything other than a stand up fight here? Maybe, but if it goes anywhere else I imagine it would be Vihtala that instigates it.

205lbs Title : Harri Mulqvist v Cy Coe

Eventually Harri Mulqvist appeared from the shadows of his great training partners and won the title he had failed to take on four previous occasions, now that he has it I don't think he will ever want to let it go. Coe took a bit of time away from CEC to win the UMMA TUUF tournament and has looked good since his return, earning a title shot when he defeated Hartola. It is amazing that these two guys where in the same division for so long without crossing swords until now but it could be well worth the wait. Both fighters know how to win from any position you could find yourself in this sport. I kind of want to see it go to ground and watch two black belts battle it out there. Fans however will probably want to see a knockout in the main event.

CEC 223 : Mind Over Matter

Preview

205lbs : Jack Worthington v Corporate Slave

Worthington opened his CEC account on the wrong end of a close decision, that loss only spurred him on to become better and when he returned he got himself his first win in our organisation, even though it was another close one he was the man with his hand raised. He has the ability to knock guys out but he will be tested here due to the fact he is against a completely unknown quantity. Slave has never fought in mma, unusual that he finds himself in an org like this without being tested but he comes from a top camp and is highly thought of amongst those fighters so an opportunity was given.

170lbs : Ben Schaefer v Rambeau Balbeaua

Schaefer lost his CEC debut via strikes a few months back and hasn't been heard of since, we didn't know what was happening with him but it seems he is back and ready to go. He faces Balbeaua, a man on a three fight losing streak but has the talent to cause problems. These guys need a win, on paper they have the potential to climb the ranks here but that potential needs to be turned into wins.

265lbs : Jack Slater v Rand James

Slater appears on his first CEC card but that doesn't mean he is new to this game. Having witnessed his devastating skills with his hands I am almost certain he will enjoy some success in his time here. Now that doesn't mean I am counting out James in this fight, I see a chance for him but maybe not in the stand up. His submission skills are slick even if his CEC record doesn't look great, his first run here he was 1-4 but a good run elsewhere which included a win over our first ever champion Rubert Kuminauha saw him invited back. Since his return he has a win and a loss, time for him to display his abilities to the full.

185lbs : Varian Wyrnn v Jack Ass

Wyrnn came along at a time when the 185 division was in serious need of a talent injection, 16 young fighters stepped up to the plate to try and win a $200k prize and he was the one that took it home. Since that victory he has only dropped two fights but with then influx of

some seriously great fighters he has found it tough to rise to the top, a win here could do him the world of good. Ass is new to CEC, he is efficient in his work but could be criticized for holding back at times, choosing to guarantee a decision win than take too many risks. Almost a certainty for a judges decision but we could see a good back and forth tussle in all areas.

155lbs : Rabban Harkonnen v Torsten Ostergaard

Harkonnen is on a nice little run just now after taking out three guys that were standing in his way of a rise to glory, no doubt a win today puts him very close to title contention, a loss is unthinkable for him. Ostergaard is a threat though and he must be taken seriously despite his record being slightly hit and miss at CEC. 3-3 isn't exactly a disaster but you know he is much better than that and he needs to start showing it. A knockout could be on the cards, both men are capable but will they be a little too nervy to go for the kill?

155lbs : Daniel Moreira v Sami Salama

Moreira was a good pick up for CEC and we hope to see what he is capable of when he makes his debut here. His last two victories have shown why he is so highly sought after, a clsoe decision over former top contender Mark Worsely and a first round knock out of former CEC champion Slim Shadie. He is a good all rounder but so too is his opponent. Salama done some serious damage to the division last time he was here, he put together a total CEC record of 6-2 and took out some big names at the time while doing so. Now he is back to do it all over again looking to start with Moreira. Whether this goes the distance or ends quickly, it should be a really exciting fight.

170lbs : Champ Bombada v Jan Janssen

Bombada has walked away from this fight victorious in the past, twice in fact, now he looks to do it for a third time. Janssen still believes he can beat him though, maybe he is just not that bright or maybe it will indeed be third time lucky for him. It is an interesting one, Bombada knocks people out for fun and he is incredibly good at it. Janssen needs it on the ground you would think, although he does have as good if not better boxing skills it is clear that Bombada possesses a very dangerous one punch knockout ability that should be avoided at all cost.

185lbs : Gunnar Nelson v Sergei Lutsenko

The last outings for both these fighters ended in defeat at the hands of the same fighter, 185lbs champion Leo Sarsola. Nelson had done the almost unthinkable when he relieved Pao Ling of his title but when it came time to defend that title he found himself lying on the canvas while Sarsola strutted away with it round his waist. Lutsenko then stepped in for his third battle with Sarsola but he too fell short and although he wasn't knocked out he was schooled from start to finish. So here we have to guys looking to bounce back and get to that title shot yet again. They are so close in their skills that this comes down to gameplan, I can't pick a winner, well I can, it's obviously the fans that get to see this fight go down!

155lbs : Karl De Groot v Ilkka Laitinen

De Groot is still considered on of the best fighters we have at CEC despite the fact he has lost his last three fights which has also involved both titles he held being snatched away from him. We know what he can do though and there is no way on earth he will want to make it four without a win. He will need to be ready because Laitinen is as tough as they come and is out to avenge the loss from their previous encounter, he will surely fancy his chances against De Groot this time around as it looks as though he is at his most vulnerable right now. A tough fought close decision win is surely what we can expect here.

145lbs Title : Scott Cain v Pile Driver

Cain disposed of Driver on his CEC debut with a first round triangle choke. Driver possibly made that fight a little too easy for his opponent though as he just seemed to forget his defence after scoring a takedown and he got caught. Cain went on to win the title in his next fight, then successfully defend it in his last. Driver came back though and was so decisive in his last win that a rematch for the title seemed the logical option for these guys. They are so evenly matched that it is yet another fight that is too tough to call, will Driver have learned form the valuable lesson he was taught last time, was he just unlucky, foolish maybe? Many questions that we hope to see answered and it wont be long until they are.

CEC 226 : Exquisite

Preview

205lbs : Jackie Treehorn v Jack Worthington

Treehorn will officially make his CEC debut here after his initial debut was a non-starter due to an issue with weight cutting. He came to us with an impressive 11-2 record and will look to his his solid all round skills to try to secure a win over his struggling opponent. Worthington is good, we know he is but a little inconsistency has hampered his progression. He is better in all primary areas of the fight game than the man he faces today but that doesn't mean he will walk away the winner. A tough fight that could go either way.

205lbs : Corporate Slave v Vladimir Tretiak

Slave bounced into action not to long ago with a nice stoppage win in his first ever mma fight and will feel confident that he can repeat that feat when he steps into the cage again. Tretiak won his first fight in CEC but since then has lost a trio of bouts, being stopped each time. He really needs to get his ground game working the way it was before and start tearing off limbs the way he used to.

170lbs : Flo Wer v Tatau Bloodgood

A new arrival for CEC will be welcomed with open arms and the hope that he can achieve great things. Flo Wer comes with a 3-0 record, he will look to build on that and remain undefeated while displaying his brutal ko power. He doesn't get an easy start though because he is pitted against Bloodgood, another fighter that loves nothing more than to knock people out and since the decisions of late have not been favourable to him we could see that hunger for the finish return, this one could be an explosive early end to the night for someone.

145lbs : Chris Snorodecki v Pelle Paniikki

Snorodecki is definitely a better fighter than he has shown the CEC fans, he can finish the fight due to his heavy hands and has also proven he can go the distance and earn a decision. However, his 1-4 record since joining us may suggest his jacket is on a loose peg but let's not kid ourselves here, the guy has only lost to fighters that are extremely talented. A win over Paniikki could do him the world of good, easier said than done though. On the ground Paniikki is a scary prospect and he is certainly no slouch standing either but it is where the fight could be won and lost. Standing I give Snorodecki the edge and on the ground it is surely a win for Paniikki one would think.

205lbs : Sluggo Brott v Peter Maynard

Brott came to CEC a long time ago with endless amount of potential, since then he has found it difficult to go on any sort of meaningful winning run, a change in manager brings a fresh approach to this warrior and maybe that is all that is required to send him to the top. Overall he is the more rounded fighter of the two but it isn't an easy win by any means. Maynard has some of the sweetest muay thai skills on display inside a cage, his kicks and knees have ended fights in some style and those are surely his most dangerous weapons. Both men know they can knock the other out, problem is that they also know it could be them lying on the floor at the end of it.

145lbs : Sammy Sugarol v Ken Hansen

Sugarol started slowly at CEC when he lost his first two fights here, since then he has turned it around though and has put two in the win column to even it all up, now he looks for three in a row against the newly signed Hansen. These are two fighters that are very good in all areas of mma, from the outside it looks as though there are many strengths and little to no weaknesses, looking a little closer you will see that both men have tasted defeat from knockout, could this be the way to win in this fight?

185lbs : Jack Ass v Sergi Lutsenko

Ass opened his CEC account with a solid decision win and added to the steady growing belief in some areas that we may have a future champion on our hands, there was nothing flashy about his performance but he handled his business in a confident manner. This fight will tell us a lot more about his credential though as he faces former champion Lutsenko. Now this is a man that if you can beat then you know you're good, 5-3 CEC record and those losses have been to guys that have held the 185lbs strap at one point, twice to the current champion, so it is not an easy task. For Ass to win it will need to be the performance of his life and it will probably take the full three round to do it as Lutsenko has never been stopped.

205lbs : Viiksi Tolonen v Tomi Juntunen

Three losses in a row has removed some of the fear that Tolonen created back when he was king of two divisions in CEC, he is still as good a fighter as he was but other fighters now believe the once invincible champion has flaws that were previously impossible to find, Viiksi needs to bounce back from his recent disappointments to prove once again why he was considered the deadliest opponent you could come across in all of Finland. Juntunen looks to exploit this lapse even further as he arrives for his first ever fight in a CEC cage, a skillful knockout artist himself could be catching Tolonen at the right time of his career as it would be a great scalp for him. Very evenly matched in all areas with Tolonen holding a slight ground advantage, this is going to be fantastic viewing.

170lbs : Jan Janssen v David Lemieux

Two very experienced fighters take to the cage for a chance to show why they should be next in line for a shot at the title in the 170lbs division. Janssesn recently put to bed his requirement to prove he was capable of beating a man he had twice lost to, I guess the three judges scoring their most recent fight 30:27 for him helped that. He is a very capable fighter, his ground game is something to be admired and he is in a position now where he can show the world what he can do. Lemieux has the same goal and with it the same opportunity. In his only CEC fight to date he won by knockout, in most of his fights he wins by knockout, I am pretty sure that his goal in this fight is to win by knockout. So essentially, Janssen wants it on the ground, to be safe, and this could get him the submission or decision win, Lemieux wants to remove his opponents head from his shoulders.

185lbs Title : Leo Sarsola v Gunnar Nelson

The Main Event is a spectacle that everyone wants to be part of, a fight that could be talked about for years as these two impressive specimens face off for a fourth, but I highly doubt final time. Their first encounter ended with a ko win for Sarsola in the third round of a fight he had been in complete control of. Fight two saw Nelson get revenge as he took all three rounds from all three judges in a decision win where he utilised some nice leg kicking to earn the nod. Their third was the most important and significant though as it was for the title that Nelson had just taken from Pao Ling. It started badly for Nelson as he was cut early but that seemed to only spur him on to take the opening round, with round two going the way of Sarsola it looked like a tight one until he got the fight to the ground and pounded out Nelson to win the title. So what more needs to be said? There is history to go along with the fact it is one of the biggest fights we will ever witness in our CEC cage, I honestly can't pick a winner but I know it is going to be a phenomenal fight, one worthy of finishing off a great event.

CEC 244 Preview

205 lbs : Mingan Napayshni v Marcus Evans

Napayshni and Evans both arrived at CEC with plenty of potential that had yet to be lived up to and in their debut outings neither of them could show it with the end results a draw and a loss respectively. Now the opportunity is there for one of the to grab that vital first win and start to climb the rankings. Napayshni looks the stronger on the feet while Evans should take any advantage should it go to the ground, both know how to throw knockout punches so it should be a fun opener.

155 lbs : Shiva Red Gym v Toni Touhu

Shiva comes to fight, there is no doubt about it, he is roughly 50:50 in his career which is down to the fact that he will fight anyone put in front of him. On paper he may look the underdog but in the past that hasn't mattered and he walks away with wins he maybe shouldn't! Touhu lost his CEC debut but has put that behind him with two submission wins on the bounce which made it ten wins in his career by tapout. Similar to his opponent though is his habit of losing as often as he wins so this fight could prove to be make or break for both these guys.

205 lbs : Corporate Slave v Stephen Quadros

These guys have something in common, that is a loss to the same guy. For Slave it is the only loss of his career so far, in his other fights he has shown he can put you away if you give him half a chance. For Quadros the loss was his only fight at CEC thus far so our fans don't really know too much about him but some claim he won the fight so he definitely has fans! Fact is he can fight and he can finish a fight so even though this one features early on the card there will be a lot of interest in how it plays out.

170 lbs : Korto Grepplund v Kalle Kala

Grepplund continues his second stint at CEC in this one but will hope for it to end slightly different than his comeback fight did. Despite being a fantastic fight for all to watch, Grepplund dropped the decision. He now faces Kala to try and get back to winning ways but it certainly wont be easy. Kala is 4-4 at CEC, he has lost his last two though and nobody wants to lose three in a row so he is going to come out fighting and will be desperate to get back to winning ways. He seems more at home standing than Grepplund in this battle of black belt bjj practitioners.

185 lbs : Marcelo Veterano v Dan Jordon

Another fight where CEC fans are a bit blind going into. Veterano lost his debut against Varian Wyrnn and will have regrets over that fight as it looked like he could have finished him in the first after rocking him badly, he then lost the next two rounds. His second fight here will be the first for Jordon. Both look well rounded but Jordon has more variety in the way he wins fights, Veterano looks more of a knockout specialist. Hard to call but maybe Jordon will take advantage of his experience on the ground before Veterano gets the chance to land a big one.

170 lbs : Felix Flashlighter v Ara Virta

Two incredibly highly rated signings of late for CEC, Flashlighter will make his second appearance after a closely fought debut against Kalle Kala in which he earned the nod. He can knock you out but it seems he is more than happy to just pick you off and earn the decision, it is a tactic that works for him. Virta fights for the first time in our cage, he has 20 wins half by decision and the other half by knockout. I think it is safe to say we are going to see stand up action all the way in this fight, unless someone goes for the surprise element.

265 lbs : Lex Luther v Aaron Gutierrez

Two rather popular fighters step up next in a hope to boost their stock a little more. Their popularity stems from the fact their fights normally don't go all the way, between them they have only went to a decision in 8 of 49 fights. Gutierrez has had a hard start to his CEC career going 1-3 but he has fought some top guys. Luther will look to make it an even tougher stint here when he walks out to meet the CEC audience for the very first time. Another stand up war if you ask me, don't expect the judges to be needed for this result.

185 lbs : Jack Ass v Fjalar Ollongren

Now it seems to be getting a little more serious on the higher end of the card. These two faced off back at CEC 228 where they tried to outwork each other on the ground for nearly the whole fight. It was Ass that earned the decision that day, all three judges gave him all three rounds and a 30:27 win was his. He has only three losses at CEC, two of which were to champion Leo Sarsola, the latest for that very title. Ollongren is 2-2 with us, losing his first two and winning his last two, a win against Ass not only gets revenge for his debut defeat but surely puts him as the next contender for the strap at 185lbs. Last time he looked for a lot of submissions, this time he may just get one.

170 lbs : Juhani Vihervuori v David Lemieux

The Co-Main Event is a mouthwatering prospect to say the least. Vihervouri needs to put together a run of wins if he truly wants to state his intentions in the division. He comes from a camp of champions, a team of winners but so far he has struggled at CEC with a lose-win-lose-win run going. Either he continues the form and becomes a gatekeeper at 170lbs or he breaks it and proves he deserves to be considered among the contenders for Deforz and his belt. Lemieux is a tremendous fighter and proved it when he seemed to walk through opponents to put himself in an awkward position of being number one contender for a friends title. He and Deforz were professional about it, after all fighting is what they do, he lost a decision in a thrilling clinch battle and unfortunately found himself tapping to a triangle in his next fight. So now he has the joy of another tough fight and he needs to bounce back before it spirals out of control. As I said before, nobody wants to lose three on the bounce.

205 lbs Title : Harri Mulqvist v Leo Sarsola

Ahh, the Main Event, a spot where only the best fighters belong and this is no different. Two champions will battle it out for the 205lbs title that Harri Mulqvist owns right now. We all know the story of Harri, it brings him a lot of love from the fans, the media and the fighters. He got to the title fight so many times and just couldn't finish the job. It was heartbreaking to see it happen and when he faced off against Pao Ling at CEC 207 you couldn't help but feel it would be fifth time unlucky for him, but no, a second round ko and we had a new champion. Two successful defences before Tomi Juntunen took it away with a knockout in a fight Harri was ahead on the cards in, so a rematch? Yes, Harri wins it back and has since defended once. Leo Sarsola is the king of 185lbs but today will try to win a second title at CEC. Can you bet against this man? At one point he was 11-9 and just seemed to be a mid-level fighter here, then something changed, something that has witnessed the rise of a true great, something that has saw him go 11-1 in an awesome run. He won the title at CEC 219 when he knocked out Gunnar Nelson but after one defence he lost it to the same fighter, then he won it back, this time from Jack Ass at CEC 230 and has held it since. So this is a huge fight, everyone will have their favourite but regardless of who walks away with the win, we know we have two of the greatest champions in the world right here at Claymore Elite Combat.

CEC 267

Main Event

205lbs Title : Harri Mulqvist v Ossi Jokinen

Two of the best light-heavyweight fighters to grace mma face off in one of the biggest fights that CEC has ever hosted. Harri Mulqvist is well known to CEC fans, his popularity is unrivaled here and after 37 fights it would be impossible to not like the man. His commitment and loyalty towards the org is commendable, when he was struggling to capture the title there was never a thought of leaving for an easier challenge elsewhere and as we know his perseverance paid off big time. Ossi Jokinen on the other hand is a new arrival to CEC, a massive signing for us leads to this fantastic fight for the 205lbs strap. I myself am hoping for a full five rounds of non-stop action and that may very well happen but we also have to consider the fact that both men are capable of ending the fight before then. The stats would show that a Mulqvist win is most likely to come in the form of a submission but Jokinen has only lost that way once when he tapped out due to a triangle choke. By the same token, a Jokinen win is most likely to come by knockout according to his previous stats but Mulqvist has only been finished twice in this fashion so 25 minutes of full on action is not out the realms of possibility. A prediction? Well I certainly wouldn't want to join the thousands of people that are split roughly 50:50 on this one, that is the beauty of our wonderful sport, anything can happen. Whoever wins is likely to have Noel Smith standing waiting on them, which then brings us to yet another fantastic fight but that talk is for another time.

CEC 267

Co-Main Event

170lbs Title : David Lemieux v Zhao Zhuo

The time has come for a new champion in the 170lbs division. The top eight fighters were all invited to take part in a small tournament after Mulroon Deforz moved up in weight and vacated the title. Lemieux has actually been here before when he took on Deforz back at CEC 239, a loss in that fight was merely a setback as he is back once again for a second bite at the cherry. He got to the final of the tournament by firstly earning a unanimous decision win over Mag Ne and then knocking out the very dangerous Rampe Rovio. Zhuo has also been impressive in the tournament though and will fancy his chances of taking the belt home with him. Antti Kantola was the first victim when the referee had to stop the fight due to strikes towards the end of the first round. After that it was time for Zhuo to show his versatility when he took Flo Wer to the mat and despite being reversed managed to slap on an incredibly tight triangle that put his opponent to sleep. And that brings us to the last two standing. They met before at CEC 257, Zhuo made his debut but it was Lemieux that controlled the fight from start to brutal finish. Is revenge on the cards or will we witness a similar end to what should be a cracking fight.

CEC 300

Main Event

170lbs Title : Bruce McBrain vs Ichiro Takahashi

The trilogy will be complete at the biggest event in CEC history. With one win each these two warriors have unfinished business to attend to. Back at CEC 295 Takahashi won his third straight fight in the org and with it the 170lbs strap from McBrain. Cutting his opponent almost immediately Takahashi took a head kick that would have finished most fighters but he kept composed and delivered his own devastating blow to end the reign of McBrain in the first round but Bruce came knocking on the door of owner Gus Malcolm begging for a chance to win back what he felt was rightfully his. He was disappointed with his showing at the event and considered it a duty to his fans to show them it was nothing more than a bad night. The rematch took place at CEC 297 and as promised, McBrain avenged the loss. This time it went on a good bit longer, three rounds gone it could be said that he had taken them all but avenging a loss with a decision win would not be satisfactory for him. In the fourth he ended it, once again the head kick put Takahashi in trouble only this time McBrain was the one to finish it as he rushed in and made no mistakes.

So what we have here are the two best fighters battling it out for the third time, a huge fight for a huge card. Who will come out victorious? And will the other be satisfied to walk away afterwards or will this fantastic rivalry we have witnessed go on longer? Maybe this isn't the end, I don't know. What I do know is that it will be one hell of a fight.

CEC 300

Co-Main Event

185lbs : Lambo Murcielago vs Armo Kuusela

Lambo arrives to the CEC cage with a perfect record of 11-0, nine knockouts on that record means he is a very scary prospect for any fighter to face. What his ground game is like still remains to be seen, we know he has a black belt in jiu-jitsu but he hasn't really been tested there as of yet. His stand up has been though and he has obviously made it through every challenge thus far. Kuusela could be the very man to give him his toughest challenge as he also knows how to knock guys out and is very happy to do just that. He has disposed of previous champions and contenders with what seems like relative ease at times yet his only title success here came way back at CEC 30, what seems like a lifetime ago. He parted company with us for a while and even tried his hand at a little kickboxing but the big lights that illuminate the CEC cage is where his home is and in his second stint he has been very tough to beat. A win here would surely see him rise above all other contenders to the throne and that is where Armo really wants to be.

CEC 300

Undercard Bout

155lbs Title : Richard Martinez vs Andy La Plegua

It was to be third time lucky for new 155lbs champion Richard Martinez when he stepped in to the cage for his title shot at CEC 296 against Humberto Cruz. Rated as possibly the best fighter in the org to have never held any belt, his 25th fight in front of our fans was to be by far his sweetest moment. A submission victory in under a minute showcased his skills and probably left Cruz wondering why he went for a takedown right off the bat. But there is no easing into his champion duties as he now faces La Plegua, a man who had a convincing debut win over Zachariah Wayne, the same guy that Martinez failed to win against on two separate occasions. Granted that one was a draw that Martinez felt he did enough to win but the fact remains that it was called a draw and the rematch saw him lose all three rounds. It doesn't really matter that La Plegua beat Wayne though, all that matters is can he beat Martinez? Can he beat the champion? Or will Martinez be an even more difficult foe now that he has something valuable to lose?

CEC 300

Undercard Bout

205lbs : Rodney Holmes vs Pacman Barnes

Rodney Holmes has the potential to be the 205lbs champion, he has the potential to remain the champion for a long time to come. Now he just needs the title fight and a win over Pacman should guarantee that. Indee, there are some that feel Rodney should already have been declared champion back at CEC 280 where he lost a split decision to Ossi Jokinen but of course, that is if you listen to his fan base and not that of Ossi. The fact remains that he had it in his own hands after taking the first two rounds and never did enough to convince the judges in the subsequent three rounds. But twenty events on and he is in a position to get another shot at the title, as mentioned though, Pacman Barnes is in the way. Barnes is very dangerous, the boy can fight and he has been around a long time building a wealth of experience. His debut in CEC saw him dismantle a very capable Rocky Balboa, he was in charge of that fight even before he got the knockout in the third round. I imagine this will be a stand up and bang style of fight as they have a combined total of 43 knockout wins in their careers. Should be tasty!

CEC 300

Undercard Bout

170lbs : Craig Hanks vs Osama Robins

We were delighted up here in our little tower when we signed Craig Hanks to CEC, even more so when he got in our cage and showed us what he could do on his debut with a decision win over Sten Biller. He weathered an early storm of Biller takedowns and sub attempts to comfortably take the second and third rounds, almost finishing right at the start of that final round, the referee was close to jumping in but Biller was tough. Hanks can do some damage to this talented division, it is there for him to prove he can do it but it certainly won't be an easy task and the proof of that will be standing across the cage from him very shortly. Robins comes to win, of that there is no doubt. This will be a CEC debut for him and he will obviously want to arrive here and show everyone what he's got and get himself a few more fans. Like every fight on this fantastic card it's a tough one to call, two exciting fighters that know how to finish a fight, what more could you ask for?

CEC 300

Undercard Bout

185lbs : Jeggu Bomb vs Raylan Givens

Jeggu Bomb made his CEC debut at CEC 296 where he took a unanimous decision win over Jack Ass. He repeated that result when he triumphed over former champion Mulroon Deforz. Let's be honest here, it's not exactly been an easy start for the guy but he has came through with flying colours. It's tough at the top though and that is evident as he goes up against Raylan Givens, a guy that has got the title shot twice but just fell short each time. Givens feels he has much to prove after being a little hit and miss with his form of late but his last outing must have given him plenty of confidence when he earned a decision over highly respected Kalle Reinikainen. Givens is probably seen as the more we'll rounded fighter but that certainly doesn't mean he will walk away with the win, he does like to grind out a decision but that could be a difficult task against the hard hitting Bomb. Exciting fight ahead? Yes please!

CEC 300

Undercard Bout

185lbs : Semmy Kasteel vs Joey Silvera

This should be good, as should all the fights on the card, but this one could be interesting. Kasteel is in terrific form with only a single loss from his last twelve fights it is enough to put the fear into any man. He has an appetite for finishing fights and obviously wants his debut in CEC to be an explosive win for him and his loyal following. Silvera is as tough an opener as you could expect though and despite being a little inconsistent with his results he is more than capable of landing that killer blow at any time. A record of 5-3 since his arrival here suggest that he has what it takes but he needs to prove it on a regular basis. A win for either pushes them a little higher up the pecking order. If they have title ambitions then now would be as good a time as any to go out and show how good they really are.

CEC 300

Undercard Bout

155lbs : Zachariah Wayne vs Jesus Martinez

Zachariah Wayne holds wins over both the 155lbs and 145lbs champions at CEC. A so-so start here saw him go 1-1-1 in his first three fights but then he exploded into life with a four fight winning streak where he defeated the aforementioned champions, Richard Martinez and Ben Farro. This resulted in him getting his own title shot against Humberto Cruz. He appeared to win the first round but then it just started slipping away with him eventually being submitted via arm triangle in the fourth. A return to winning ways against a different Martinez would be ideal for him. Jesus Martinez appeared at CEC 268 in a five rounder against Illka Laitinen, he outclassed Laitinen who at the time was the division champion. Since then his results have been a little up and down going 4-4 from that point. Both men will want to get their careers back on track with a win at this illustrious event.

CEC 300

Undercard Bout

265lbs : Vinnie Collins vs Derka Derka

Vinnie Collins returns to CEC on a five fight win streak he amassed in Random Fighting in Amsterdam. He is 1-1 here with his last fight at CEC 258 seeing him manhandled and knocked out towards the end of the first round. His opponent today, Derka Derka makes his CEC debut, his record of 20-17 shows he has gained a lot of experience in his fighting career and he is capable of winning and losing fights, in short he provides excitement. They both win and lose, knock out and get knocked out, so it could be a real fiery affair once they face each other. Some high profile opponents will be awaiting the winner of this one, maybe losing could be the better option if they want to keep their faces looking the way they do right now.....

CEC 300

Undercard Bout

155lbs : Humberto Cruz vs Murray Esson

Humberto Cruz has a 3-3 record at CEC, five of those six fights have been for the title, either at 155lbs or 170lbs. His two ventures to the higher weight class ended in failure but he showed how gutsy he was in stepping up. He was in fact up two rounds against Bruce McBrain before the highlight reel uppercut knockout landed. Recently losing his 155lbs title was a blow for him but now he gets the chance to climb the ladder with a win over Murray Esson. At CEC 254 Esson made his only CEC appearance to date where he was brutally knocked out by Pile Driver in the first round of their fight. A natural 145lber he wanted this fight to try to avenge a loss for his training buddy, Tommy McCall. It is a questionable move considering many believe McCall is the far superior fighter but Esson has balls of steel it would appear. This is the fight that kicks off a tremendous night of fights. Good luck to all involved.

CEC 362

Winter Olympics

Wombley Arena, London

The Tycoon Winter Olympics is here and Claymore Elite Combat has the pleasure of hosting the 265lbs bracket of this illustrious tournament. Eight of the best heavyweight fighters will compete to decide who is truly the top 265er out there right now. The orgs have all sent the guy that they belief can take gold home but only one man can. As well as these four awesome fights we have six others for fight fans to relish in this fantastic night of action. So let's get it started.....

185lbs - Randal Pritchard vs Geralt Of Ravia

So we kick of this fantastic event with two fighters looking to climb the ladder in the 185lbs division. Pritchard lost his last fight after winning on his debut putting him at 1-1 in CEC. It will be essential to him to get back to winning ways and not find himself in a slump. He has the ability to hit the top of the division but so do many others and he has to take some of them out if he wants to get there. Ravia is on of those others, also 1-1 in the 185lbs class. He was with us previously at 205 and was 2-2 in that division. Consistency is something he needs to discover as he certainly has the tools to compete. This fight will most likely end with a knockout, it's just hard to pick who will get it.

185lbs - Dieter Von Cunth vs Ramus Arthanier

Dieter Von Cunth lost on his CEC debut to the earlier mention Pritchard but bounced back strongly with a knockout win in his second outing. 12 career win with 11 knockouts obviously makes him a dangerous opponent for anyone and with the confidence his last performance would have given him it could be even more so. His opponent is Ramus Artanier who will be making his debut today. He has also picked himself up a new manager since he last fought so it is hard to tell what we are going to get from him. Previous fights will tell you that he has knockout power and doesn't mind going the distance. Although with decisions his success rate for a win is 57%. Whichever way you look at it, both men want that win.

170lbs - Craig Hanks vs Manfred von Richthofen

Craig Hanks is looking to continue his recovery from a slightly stick patch. Not so long ago he was a two weight champion here at CEC and looked as though he would remain that way for a long time. Then a trio of losses which included losing both titles hit him hard. He did win a comeback fight but disappeared shortly after. Since his return he is 1-1 with his last outing a majority decision win over Steve Stifler. We all know what he is capable of but is this the return of the former king of 170lbs? Manfred von Richthofen will be a good test for Hanks. He dropped a unanimous decision in his debut here but we possibly didn't see the best of him in that fight. He will need to step it up though if he wants to compete with the likes of Hanks and the guys nearer the top. His boxing and wrestling are up there with the best, he just needs to put them to use to go on a run.

265+lbs - Kurko Tyrma vs Jack Sparrow

Kurko Tyrma and Jack Sparrow both make their debuts here today in our open weight division. Being that the division is still relatively new, one win can really propel a fighter to greater things. A title shot could be a real possibility for the winner depending on how the performance goes. Looking back at these guys in other orgs it seems likely that this will be fought standing as both men like to box and primarily use their wrestling skills to keep it on the feet.

265lbs - Konstantin Magomedov vs Miami Vice

This fight was put together pretty late on but that doesn't take away from how great a battle it is likely to be. Miami Vice has put away some big names in his career thus far including a head kick knockout of CEC champion Rocky Tyson. Tyson may be undefeated at CEC but that is just giving Vice the drive and determination to get to the top and try to repeat that feat. He likes to knock people out and would love to add another name to the list of victories he has in that manner. Konstantin Magomedov will have other ideas though. He quite enjoys a knockout of his own and will be more than happy to stand and trade with Vice. Everyone wants to win all the time but a debut win is always important as it sets the tone and gains you knew fans early on. This will be exactly what Magomedov will be looking for. In short, this has awesome written all over it!

205lbs - Noel Smith vs Edgar Hoover

And before we get into the Olympics fights we have one more CEC fight to bring you. Noel smith will be looking to bounce back from his recent loss. In fact, he will be looking to try and erase most of his recent CEC memories altogether. His first stint here saw go a respectable 2-2 but since his return it has been a run of 1-3 that has left him feeling rather deflated. He will be hoping that taking on a CEC new boy will get him a victory and build some much needed confidence for him to kick on from. Edgar Hoover is that opponent. A capable fighter from anywhere, he has shown that he can knock you out and he can submit you so you have to be on guard at all times. He has been knocked out a few times himself but getting in a stand up brawl may not be the best plan. A good solid battle before we head to the big ones.

And now onto the Winter Olympics first round of fights;

265lbs - Tigran Badoyan vs Jack Neely

EVO have thrown Tigran Badoyan into the Olympics with the belief he can come home with a medal. There is no doubt he has the skills to match the top guys in the world but something has went wrong for a man who seemed destined to be one of the greats. Consistency is a real problem for him but it may just need that one win to give him the confidence that he needs to pull something off here, I certainly don't think he should be dismissed, it could be costly to anyone who does. Aggressive Damage have opted to give Jack Neely a second chance at the Olympics. CEC fans may remember Neely as the guy who stopped Gunnar Nelson via cuts at the last Olympics, others will know him as a man who has had some wars with current AD champion Simbo Klice. Regardless of how you know him, one thing remains the same, you know he is here to fight. Like Badoyan, he is 1-3 of late but the same message is clear, it may only take that one win to catapult him to great success here.

265lbs - Tarmo Hovi vs Daniel Silva

Ascension have chosen to send the man who holds their heavyweight strap, Tarmo Hovi. This guy has shown that he can win a fight regardless of where it takes place. Undefeated since his arrival at Ascension, he has put away some impressive names in the MMA world. An extremely gifted fighter with a highly talented manager is the right combination to go places an in my mind it wouldn't be a huge upset to see him do well in this tournament. Daniel Silva is the pick Mike made to bring TTFC success in the heavyweight division. He clearly has the power to stop anyone in the division and has fought to a draw with tournament favourite, Brick Tires. The downside is that he has been stopped in his last two outings and a total of thirteen times in his career. That doesn't mean he can't compete here, it just means he needs to be careful not to get tagged big or often.

265lbs - Rocky Tyson vs William Burns

Claymore Elite Combat have chosen to send champion Rocky Tyson into battle and the expectation for a medal from him is high. We aren't trying to put any unnecessary pressure on him but he has taken out six very tough fighters since coming to us, stopping them all. So the hope is that he can carry on that form and go all the way to securing gold on home turf. It's not going to be easy with the first man standing in his way also being a champion on a strong run. Montreal Fight Nights have sent their 265lbs king to us to try and knock the CEC guy out of the CEC tournament at the first stage and take the shine off the Olympics for us. William Burns knows how to finish fights much like Tyson. They both love a good knockout finish and I am sure that these two warriors will be doing their best to serve up one that will be played on highlight reels for years to come. Someone's bell is going to get severely rung in this one.

265lbs - Brick Tires vs Leonardo Ferreira

The winner of this fight is the man that is supposed to be taking that gold medal back to their org but we all know, with guys this size it only takes one punch to change everything. Top tycoon heavyweight and Syn representative Brick Tires will have a fight on his hands when he takes on a very similar fighter to himself in the ROW teams Leonardo Ferreira. Both guys like to strike while staying on the outside and both can do damage from the clinch. Even their records are almost the same with 26 wins and 7 losses, only difference is that Tires also has a draw on his. The biggest thing here could be that Tires dropped a decision a while back to a fighter called David Gilmour, the relevance? Gilmour was managed by none other than Dean Sutherland, the man who is currently guiding Ferreira and has kept him undefeated since taking him into his camp. Will this have a mental impact on Tires? Or will he blast through him like he has done everyone since his loss to Dustin Douglas?

CEC 365

Wombley Arena, London

As the poster says, three titles are on the line at the next Claymore Elite Combat event which takes place on January 10th in Wombley Arena. A great night of fights lies in front of us so let's get down to the who fights who of the evening.

Main Event - 155lbs Title Fight - Mr Charcoal v Victor Zsasz

Mr Charcoal recently changed his manager and with that came the return of belt he lost to Conan Cross, the guy he originally won it from. He is 2-0 since joining up with Mike Forentino and will be desperate to make it 3-0 as well as retain his title. His opponent will have other ideas though and certainly has the skills to upset the current champ. Zsasz may have been disappointed in his recent Olympic adventure but certainly didn't show it when he came back with a decision win over the aforementioned Conan Cross to earn himself this shot at Charcoal.

Co-Main Event - 170lbs - Doc Chillum v Peter Tosh

This fight may not be for the title at 170 but it is a highly anticipated one nonetheless and could propel one of these fighters on to fight the winner of Gatame/Ruutu set to take place hopefully at the end of the month. Chillum has held the belt before and knows he is more than capable of reaching those heights again. He lost to both Gatame and Ruutu previously so he will definitely be looking for some revenge there but first he needs to deal with the man in front of him. Tosh lost on his CEC debut but has since stopped two opponents on the trot to put himself in the position he is now. A win over Chillum certainly would strengthen calls for him to be next in line for a championship fight.

185lbs Title Fight - Johnny Freedom v Murray Jackson

Johnny Freedom is another fighter that feels he didn't perform as well as he could have at the Olympics and wants to put that behind him and show why he is the king of 185. He has only suffered defeat once inside the CEC cage and avenged that defeat by winning the title at the second attempt against Armo Kuusela. CEC fans may not know too much of his opponent Murray Jackson yet but he arrives with an impressive 26-7 record as well as holding titles in orgs when they decided to close their doors, meaning he never actually lost those titles. This makes him a very dangerous opponent for anyone so Freedom will need to be on his game if he wants to hold onto the crown.

265+lbs Title Fight - Rung Thrym v Kurko Tyrma

The third of our title fights will see undefeated Rung Thrym attempt to keep the belt he won in his last fight as well as keep his record loss free. A unanimous decision over Timur Rubin saw him rise to the top if the division but they do say it is harder to keep the title once you have it, everyone is after you once you reach the top. One of those chasers is Tyrma, a man who likes a good knockout finish. Although he never earned a knockout in his CEC debut, he certainly did enough to put himself into the number one contender position. Has he got what it takes to go that further step? I believe it will definitely be worth watching it to find out.

265+lbs - Timur Rubin v Alexey Turshatov

And so to Timur Rubin who is looking to bounce back from the earlier stated loss of the title to Thrym. When he knocked out Idi oCrazy we all thought we had a long term champion on our hands and the possibility of those two meeting up again was a certainty. However, oCrazy dropped down to a more natural weight for him and Rubin dropped the title at the first defence. Now it's time to see if he can climb back up. He will have to first go through Turshatov who is 1-0 in CEC after a debut submission victory, a remarkable twelfth time he has won a fight by submission. No need to ask where he wants the fight to end up! He is on an impressive five fight win streak and was also a champion in another org before he came here so there is definitely proof of him being able to hold his own.

205lbs - Ansgar Axelsson v Edgar Hoover

These two fighters have something in common, both were on the receiving end of a stoppage in their CEC debuts. Now they have to move on and neither will want back to back losses on their CEC record. Both capable of ending the fight on the feet, Hoover has shown he can finish it on the mat as well while Axelsson has shown himself to be a stand up only guy when it comes to ending a fight.

170lbs - Jose Brandao v Roque Barretto

Brandao will make his CEC debut in this fight having just arrived after the closure of Umbrella. He comes from a very highly rated camp of fighters and will be wanting to show us what he has got from the moment the ref shouts fight! He has been handed Barretto for his first fight, a fighter who started impressively here by winning his first two fights, the latter being against former champion Craig Hanks. Inconsistency has struck though and recent fights have brought his CEC record to 3-2. A return to that early form is essential here to avoid going on a losing streak that could easily spiral out of control.

170lbs - Panzer Grenadier v Idi oCrazy

Grenadier has started well at CEC with two wins from two, both stoppages due to strikes. His career has been heavily influenced by his exceptional striking ability and he is ready to showcase that again today against Idi oCrazy. His first fight at this weight class, oCrazy should be much happier at a more natural weight than what he is used to. Fighting those bigger guys could be looked at as incredibly brave or incredibly stupid but the fact remains that his record was very good there with the only loss being the earlier mentioned fight with Timur Rubin. He came back from that loss with a knockout win to put himself back on track.

155lbs - Jesse Pinkman v Chris Herzog

Pinkman arrives at CEC with an 18-12 record but it has involved him fighting tough guys in his career. It's not going to get any easier for him here but he is a very capable fighter with well rounded skills and will be able to give anyone a hard fight. Maybe that is not what Herzog wants to hear after dropping his debut fight by decision to Mike Henderson. Let's be fair though, Herzog is a great fighter and is also a very well rounded fighter. Both these guys can finish a fight from anywhere which makes it a very intriguing fight indeed.

265lbs - Russell Jacobs v Blake Edwards

The night will start off with the heavyweights with Russell Jacobs arriving for his debut CEC bout. A change of manager and a change of org may be what was needed after a four fight losing streak left him wondering what was going wrong. It's not going to start easy for him as he will have to contend with a CEC legend and former heavyweight champion in Blake Edwards. It seems like a long time ago that Edwards was champion but it did happen. It could have happened again if it wasn't for him not wanting to fight his good friend and training partner Kaarlo Vihtala and when Vihtala lost the belt Edwards was having a bit of an off spell. The climb has started for him but the 265lbs division has become a stacked division since he was at the top, can he make it back there before age catches up with him?

CEC 388

Wombley Arena, London

The atmosphere in Wombley Arena was electric as CEC put on another fantastic show, an event that saw us rise to that number 1 global ranking again. With two title fights and a superfight headliner, it was easy to see why fans were pumped up for CEC 388.

265+lbs - Taufiqul Haq vs Gaius Pompaius

The night started off with an open weight bout which saw a debut victory for Pompaius. It didn't take him long to have Haq in trouble, coming out aggressive and cutting him open very early. His accuracy with leg kicks kept him in control of the fight, he was missing a large amount of his head punches but the ones that did land saw Tha cut get worse. In the last second of round 2, an uppercut ended the night for Haq and Pompaius walked away with a debut win.

205lbs - Wade Wilson vs Harri Mulqvist

Harri Mulqvist put another one in the win column with his 18th submission win of his career while avenging a loss for his stablemate, Tommi Hartola. It could be said that Wilson was the master of his own demise in this fight, looking to get the fight to the ground where it would end badly for him. With the first round lost, Mulqvist found himself on his back in the second. A quick sweep and he now had to work to get back into the fight. A minute left in the round saw the opportunity present itself, Mulqvist went for th kimura and got it, job done!

265+lbs - Alexandre Ottoni vs Lance Wilson

This was the first fight of the evening to go the distance, after two rounds we were sitting at a round each so it all came down to the third. Both fighters were going for it but it was Ottoni that impressed the judges more and all three of them would give him that round. Ottoni makes that two wins from two in CEC, remaining undefeated in his career.

170lbs - Craig Hanks vs Rick James

This was a fantastic spectacle for the fans both at the event and watching at home, the kind of fight that does our sport proud. Two guys determined to go for the win in a standup war. Hanks took charge early on and earned himself the opening round but was soon pegged back in the second when James landed a stunning elbow from the clinch which cut Hanks and appeared to slow him considerably. It was all up for grabs in the last round and once again we saw it go to the clinch but it was on exiting the clinch that Hanks done the damage, knocking James to the floor with a nice combo. A clearly rocked James was just surviving at this stage and when Hanks moved in to clinch then out he once again dropped James on the exit and this was to be the end of the fight this time.

155lbs - Kamil Burczynski vs Gordon Lefleaur

Burczynski wasn't overly troubled in this fight if we are being completely honest, an early takedown showing exactly what his plan was for the evening. A few failed submission attempts and it was back to the feet after Lefleaur got a reversal but couldn't really find his range and the round had been lost. The next round went a similar way, early takedown by Burczynski, a failed submission but then some gruesome ground and pound that Lefleaur just couldn't take saw the fight end. Burczynski called for a title shot once the fight was over, is he ready for La Plegua again though is the question? Last time it didn't go too well for him.

170lbs - John Bonham vs Frankie Barnes

Barnes was determined that this fight was going to be won by him in the clinch and that was where he tried to take it and keep it. Once there though, Bonham was holding his own. A close first round was probably taken by Barnes but all that was swept away in the second when Bonham broke the clinch and rocked his opponent with a quick in and out with a nice hook doing the damage. A high kick was then planted and the follow up strikes to the floored Barnes saw Bonham walk away with the stoppage win.

205lbs - Police State vs Dee Stroya

Police State was the last fighter to beat the 205lbs king, Ansgar Axelsson and it looks as though he could be en route to getting another chance to try to do it again. Another back and forth fight saw Stroya start strong, cutting State and controlling the action in round one. State was to earn round two though, getting the fight to the ground being a big part of that but his work on the feet was also to be admired. The final round was to be short lived as both guys looked for the win but it was State that done the damage. A minute in and some great strikes left Stroya on the ground being saved by the referee, State had earned a huge scalp here and it would be hard to see anyone jumping in front of him for that Axelsson fight.

265+lbs Title Fight - Timur Rubin vs Ottis Toole

The first of our two title fights had been eagerly anticipated, fans and pundits alike had been predicting an out and out war. Rubin took it to the floor early and survived a submission scare but a lack of action would see it back to standing. Toole would then land a couple of takedowns of his own but a back and forth period of action would see Rubin the most likely winner of the round. Round two would see it explode into action, each man drew blood from the other. Toole pulled guard and tried to boss the action but again Rubin probably snuck it when a lovely combo put Toole on the deck. He repeated this feat right at the start of round three and tried to go in for the kill but Toole survived the rest of the round on his back, the fight however was slipping out of reach now. Into the fourth and Rubin had the smell of victory in his nostrils, another fantastic shot, this time a huge uppercut, saw Toole again on the floor. This time Rubin finished it and a brave display from Toole won't give him much comfort as he walks away without the belt he craved.

170lbs Title Fight - Co-Main Event - Juji Gatame vs Jakke

This was to be fight number four between the two best fighters in the 170lbs division. Gatame was 2-1 over Ruutu going into it but the last time they met was when that defeat came. This time however there was an immediate tone set by Gatame and once he got his nose in front he never looked back. His aggression had him in charge and Ruutu was on the back foot for pretty much the whole fight, strikes may have been landing for Ruutu but Gatame was just giving it more in every area. Even though he was winning the fight standing, Gatame scored with takedowns also. In the end a lopsided judges decision of 50-45 from all three of them saw the title remain in his hands. An outstanding performance that set in stone why Juji Gatame is the man to beat in the welterweight division.

265lbs - Main Event - Rocky Tyson vs Simba Burns Jr

There was definitely a bit of niggle between these two fighters both before and after this fight. Burns Jr was just stopping off for the one fight in CEC and it was Tyson he was looking for. The Baddest man on the planet champion wanted to come in and do a number on our 265 king and was obviously inspired by recent losses for Tyson to Rinky Spider and Leonardo Ferreira, they had done it so why couldn't he. The hype surrounding both fighters and their popularity made it an easy decision to make this the main event, even over the title fights that were on the card. Let's be honest, this fight was close, so close that it would split the judges. Tyson took round one, all judges agreed on that one, fans would probably have agreed as well if pressed fo an answer. His striking from range and work rate had him in control. The second round looked fairly even until Burns Jr landed a head kick that floored Tyson and left blood pouring from his face, he came back though and landed enough strikes of his own to give the judges something to think about, two of them gave Tyson the round with one giving it to Burns Jr. As with the rest of the card, these fighters were going for it, the last round showed it again. Tyson was the busier fighter throughout, he threw more and landed more. Burns Jr will believe he landed the more significant strikes. In the end though, it comes down to the three bodies that judge the fight and despite it being a split decision, it was a win awarded to Rocky Tyson. After the fight, a clearly irritated Burns Jr made his feelings clear about the decision and his opponent. This may not be the end of it and these two could end up facing off again at some point. All that matters tonight is that Tyson has claimed victory.

So another event is in the books. Like I said at the start, it takes CEC back to the top of the global rankings for the moment, which is obviously a massive accomplishment and every fighter here should be proud that they have contributed towards this.

CEC 408
Welcome ladies and gentlemen, we have a treat for you on the evening of October 30th 2015. We have a supercard event to present, live at the LA Memorial Colossuseum. With eight preliminary bouts and two huge main events with two belts up for grabs, the audience is in for a masterclass of MMA. In our first main event we have a knockout specialist with huge punching power colliding with a man that has never been knocked out in his professional career, followed by a rivalry up there with the most historical, Hess and Chernov meet in the octagon once more, having both beat each other once, with a TKO and KO in the first round of both fights, this is going to be a phenomenal rematch as Chernov attempts to regain his pride after Hess took his belt with a first round KO at Ascension 343: The End. CEC 408 is shaping up to be one of the best cards of the year, with two colossal title matches and a wealth of rising talent on the undercard, prepare yourselves for a night to remember at CEC 408.

Undercard

Jimmer Octopulus v Yonsil Clanger
This match is shaping up to be a fantastic start to a great night of fighting. We've got an exceptional boxer and kicker in Jimmer going up against a sensational wrestler in Yonsil. Jimmer is a stand up artist, almost all of his 15 wins being TKOs, whereas his opponent is a take down master, winning 35 of his 40 match ups via decisions or submissions. We've got two phenomenal aspects of MMA colliding in the octagon, kick starting a supercard event.

Bam Bam Margera v John Feet Da Pedra Lineker
The second instalment of an incredible night of fighting, we have two great all round fighters going head to head, we have a knockout specialist in Bam, with a haul of 20 TKOs in 27 professional wins going up against a man with both knock out power and an ability to grind out decisions in John. This bout is shaping to be a war between two seasoned and well matched warriors, tune in to see a painted canvas.

Tim Barbie Poutsi v Haji Death Cab Muakbar
The third bout of the evening is a stellar match up between two elite wrestlers, both specialising in knockouts and cardio. Almost every fight these two have won has been a knockout or decision. We're in for a great evening of fighting, and each bout is better than the last! Be prepared to watch two warriors stand, strike, takedown and wrestle in a fight that could easily be a three round war that will come down to who threw the most punches, this could easily be decided in the first round and just as easily last the three, so prepare yourselves for a masterclass.

Omnipotent Stem Cell v The Texas Tarantula Austin Williams
This card goes from strength to strength as the fourth bout of the night bring together an elite wrestler and a sensational boxer, Stem Cell can just as easily get a knockout as he can grind out a three round decision, Austin Williams has a more rounded game, getting knockouts and subs just as often and decisions even more so. This fight is going to come down to tactics, Stem Cell looking to keep it standing and going for the TKO, and Austin who will prefer to wrestle, ground and pound or even go for a submission, either way, the fourth bout of the night will prove to be just as entertaining as the previous, and following fights

Ottis Devil Child Toole v Cracker Jack Neely
The fifth bout of the night will see two heavyweight knockout and wrestling elites go head to head in what looks to be contender for fight of the night, these two guys almost always get the knockout. This fight is going to be special, were going to see two killers go to war for this win, don't expect it to go to decision.

The Outlaw Taisto Murkula v Anthony Tough Tony Anastasio
This matchup is going to be exceptional, we have The Outlaw, a fighter that prides myself on wrestling and his natural knockout power, going up against a beast of a man that has never been knocked out in his 28 fight career in Tough Tony, two polar opposites will collide in bout six of CEC 408, who will win is anyone's guess, what is certain though is this fight will see stand up striking, clinching, wrestling, grappling, knockout attempts and submission attempts in its three five minute rounds, prepare for a war.

Local Simpleton Shinichi Onizuke v Yury Vesnev
These two super stamina wrestlers are known for grinding out decisions, but who could predict how a fight between two decision fighting ground wrestlers would go? All we know for sure is we're going to see a wrestling masterclass in fight number seven of CEC 408, an event that is shaping up to be one of the great nights of combat sports.

Doom Unit v James Pearl Harbor
Bout eight will see an elite wrestler with an unbelievable ability to submit opponents face a man that has never been submitted, a man with as many knockouts as decision wins. Were going to see a submission specialist attempt to submit a guy that can't be submitted. This has potential to be fight of the night, polar opposites, exceptional fighters and a passion and desire in both fighters to win this fight, and every other fight.

Main Card

Make Munalukko v Manolo Fu
The first of two main events on this CEC super card will see an elite boxer and knockout beast in Make go up against Manolo, a man that refuses to be knocked, has never been put down, battle it out for the 185 lbs title. This fight will see two of the best 185ers in the sport clash in a hammer strike in the octagon tonight, two of the top 50 pound for pound fighters in the world, this is going to be a masterclass of MMA, with the title on the line, who will win? The boxer with extreme punching power, or the sensational wrestler that's never been knocked out? Well find out tonight. Do not miss this fight.

"The Giant With Attitude John Hess v Sergey Death From Above Chernov
The main event of the night will see the second rematch between Hess and Chernov. In Ascension 306 we saw Chernov get the TKO against Hess inside the first round. In the main event of the final Ascension event, Ascension 343: The End, we saw Hess take Chernovs belt with an unbelievable clean knockout inside two minutes. Tonight, we see these two heavyweights clash in a battle of Titans, as an age old rivalry comes crashing to an end. This is a title fight between two passionate rivals, the score stands at 1-1, but in the biggest event of the night, possibly year, we see two of the top Pound for Pound fighters in the world come to world shattering blows to decide, finally, once and for all, who is the Undisputed, Unrivalled, CEC Heavyweight Champion of the World? Be there, tonight we will see history being made.

CEC 420

1st January 2016

Los Angeles Memorial Colossuseum (93,607)

Ladies and Gentlemen what a card we have to kick off the New Year! Two of the top Heavyweight fighters go head to head in the main event, these two need no introduction, Rinky Spider looks to cement his legacy by taking on the toughest he can find, Jon Hess will stand across from him. Also on the card Manolo Fu makes his return from the Olympics to defend his MW title against the tough Tony Anastasio. This should be the perfect way to recover from your hangovers, chilling out and watching two men punch the shite out of each other.

"The Giant With Attitude" Jon Hess vs. Rinky "The Gangster" Spider 265lbs

Hess looks to continue building his momentum and back on the track to becoming one of the best HWs by taking on #1 HW Rinky Spider in a fight that promises one to remember.

Hess came to fame by talking himself into a fight with the seemingly undefeatable Dustin Douglas. At the time many viewed Hess as a young fighter who wouldnt be able to offer much to Douglas. Shortly into the fight Hess had Douglas wincing with his body strikes and then punched Douglas head off in memorable fashion. Soon after that fight he and his manager parted ways after Rinky Spiders training partner, Brick Tires, defeated Hess. He found a new manager but the results werent coming with the regularity he was used to, winning just 4 fights from his first 10, including a loss to Rinky. However in his latest 10 fights he has lost once and was the last reigning Ascension champion before they closed down and was shortly the CEC HW champion. There is no secret to Hess fight strategy, he striking is some of the most dangerous there is. All of his wins are via (T)KO with most of his wins coming from him cleanly KOing his opponent. He has lost to Rinky before as he couldnt avoid the strikes and was finished, so he will have to change his gameplan this time around.

Rinky Spider is a man who fights just like the fans want a fighter to, there is no give in him. He may be slowing down this past year but there is no doubt he is still the top dog. 2 of his 3 losses this year were to Leonardo Ferreira who is arguably one of the best to walk the octagon, so Rinky should not be ashamed of losing to him. Other than those setbacks he has been dominant, he held the EVO HW title and SHW title for most of the year and only going to 2 decisions in 18 fights.

Both of these fighters enter the cage with bad intentions, their spectacular KO records indicate this is a fight that will not go the distance. As to who gets the finish its hard to say. Whilst Rinky may have shown signs of slowing down this last year, Hess year hasnt been all that great either and he has suffered 4 brutal KO losses. Rinky has also fought a whos who of the SHW and HW divisions, whilst Hess losses were to top fighters some of his wins were not against those considered top HW fighters. I believe Rinky will defeat Hess for the second time in his career and possibly ride off into the sunset afterwards.

Prediction: Spider via TKO

"The Mad Monk" Grigori Rasputin vs. Bo Juggernaut 265lbs

Rasputin and Juggernaut are two very similar fighters, not only in their fighting style but in their career trajectories. They look to do battle on the 1st once the cage door closes, who will grit through their opponents power to get the victory?

Rasputin is a bad man, of his 21 victories, 19 are from (T)KO. He doesnt like going to the judges and he has the power to stop that from happening. Primarily a boxer, he doesnt throw many kicks but when he does it is to set up his punches which come very accurately and very powerfully. He has shown he has a hell of a chin as he takes a lot of punishment, but the problem is when he is hurt he doesnt defend very well and ends up getting tagged a lot, his ability to take a punch only prolongs his punishment, most of his losses have come from his being unable to physically take any more damage and his brain shuts off.

Juggernaut fights in a similar manner to Rasputin, he has power for days and he knows how to use it. 23 of his 24 wins come from (T)KO. However his striking style is much more rounded than his opponent on the 1st, as he is able to use his kicks with much more effectiveness in tandem with his punches. You never know where he is going to hit next and with what limb and that confusion often leaves his opponents face down on the mat. However he also gets hit a lot which inevitably leads to him getting knocked out, 7 of his 10 losses have come from him getting KOed a problem which he cant seem to fix as just when he is on a hot streak a powerful striker puts him down.

These two matching up is a surety for fireworks, both dont back down and both cant take too much damage before they go down. Its a matter of who his harder and who hits with more consistency. Whilst Rasputins boxing is top, Juggernaut is able to mix in kicks to his attack which I see eventually taking their toll on Rasputin and Juggernaut finding an opening to land a fight ending KO.

Prediction: Juggernaut via KO

Manolo Fu vs. Anthony "Tough Tony" Anastasio 185lbs TITLE FIGHT

Fu returns from a failed attempt at the Olympics, after losing in the opening round to Scotty Bennet he hasnt fought since. His opponent will be former Ascension title challenger, Anastasio.

Fu is a very high pressure striking specialist, he has more decision wins that finishes but his style wears on his opponents and sometimes overwhelms them. He mixes in his kicks and punches expertly, early in his career he also showed great power with his first 7 wins all coming via (T)KO with most in the first round but when faced with higher level opposition he doesnt put as much power into his strikes and often cruises to a decision with his superior cardio and work-rate too much for most. Added to this he has never been finished even when faced with some of the hardest hitters out there.

Anastasio is looking for that one moment in his career that he can look back on and be remembered for, going 4-3 in Ascension it looked like he would be a card filler, but after a 3-1 run in CEC he finds himself in line for a belt at one of the most prestigious orgs around. He has great finishing power and also a great ability to take a punch, having never been finished in his career.

This is a very tough fight to call, both are great strikers whilst Anastasio has the better finishing ability he probably wont be able to be the first to KO Fu. Fu is a champion for a reason, I see him employing his normal strategy of punches (and kicks) in bunches to wear down Anastasio for the decision win.

Prediction: Fu via UD

Sergej "Project Alpha" Valentinovich vs. Rung Thrym 205lbs

Time for the young fighters to get a go in this fight, both of these two are tipped for greatness in the not so distant future. Valentinovich makes his CEC debut after UFNC closed, and Thyrm looks to extend his 4 fight winning streak and put himself in prime position for a title shot.

Sergej left UFNC as the last LHW champion of the org, and he was snatched up by CEC who saw great potential in him. Of his 13 wins, 10 are via (T)KO and he has never been finished in his 14 fight career. His power and ability to avoid big damage is a dangerous task to overcome for anyone. He has also shown great heart, after taking a beating for 4 straight rounds it looked as though he was on his way to a UD loss but with 2 minutes left in the fight his power showed through and he snatched a victory from the jaws of defeat.

Thrym is a former training partner of Sergej, but after 3 fights him and his management parted ways so this may be something of a grudge match. He has decent power but he has won the majority of his fights via decision even when fighting people with suspect chins which has led to some naysayers dismissing his chances as a top fighter due to his inability to finish fights.

This is a very special fight, a glance into the future of the tycooniverse. Sergej will be looking to use his power and get in a finish, although Thrym is a tough nut to put away. I see these two engaging in an exciting slugfest but Sergejs power will score more points in the eyes of the judges.

Prediction: Sergej via UD

Konstantin Magomedov vs. Sawyer "815" Hume 265lbs

The first fight on the main card sees two HWs in action. Magomedov will look to show everyone he still has it at 37 as he faces Hume, who will look to use his striking offense to bring home the W.

Madomedov is an old school wrestler from Russia, he has amazing strength and wrestling technique, he has also developed a very high level boxing game which compliments his shot takedowns very nicely. But at 37 years old he has taken a lot of fights which has led to 20 losses and almost 10 via (T)KO, the damage is telling in his most recent fights and his age is showing, so the question remains can he go out and get the victory and then go out on a high?

Hume is an excellent striker, what he lacks in finesse he makes up for in raw power. He lives and dies by the proverbial sword as he either seeks the KO, but when he cannot get that KO he takes a beating and gets finished himself, a style which has led to 17 of his 19 wins coming from (T)KO and 6 of his 7 losses coming from (T)KO.

If Hume can avoid Magomedovs wrestling attack he should be able to outland and get the KO, an outcome which I see happening.

Prediction: Hume via TKO
