So the TUF 18 cast members were revealed today, any personal favourites going into the show?

You can check out profiles of the male cast here and profiles of all the females here

I'll be rooting for all of the UK guys and girls to make things a bit more interesting, Chris Holdsworth who's a BJJ black belt and trains at Team Alpha Male will probably be a strong contender, Sweden's Sirwin Kakai who trains at American Top Team could also be one to watch out for.

As for the females I'm not really to sure, given there experience you'd think Shayna Baszler and Tara LaRosa who trains at Greg Jackson's gym would be among the favourites.

Female Bantamweights:

Shayna Baszler (15-8), 33, Sioux Fall, S.D.

Revelina Berto (3-1), 24, Winter Haven, Fla.

Jessamyn Duke (2-0, 1NC), 27, Richmond, Ky.

Tonya Evinger (11-6), 32, Lake St. Louis, Mo.

Laura Howarth (4-0), 26, Hove, East Essex, ENG

Tara LaRosa (21-3), 35, Albuquerque, N.M.

Sarah Moras (3-1), 25, Kelowna, CAN

Margaret “Penny” Morgan (2-0), 33, Nashua, N.H.

Gina Mazany (3-0), 25, Seattle, Wash.

Roxanna Modafferi (15-10), 30, Pittsfield, Mass.

Julianna Pena (4-2), 24, Spokane, Wash.

Raquel Pennington (3-3), 24, Colorado Springs, Colo.

Jessica Rakoczy (1-3), 36, Las Vegas, Nev.

Colleen Schneider (4-3), 31, Las Vegas, Nev.

Male Bantamweights:

Christopher Beal (7-0), 28, Somis, Calif.

Cody Bollinger (14-3), 22, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.

do they still have to win to get in the house, so only 8 guys and 8 girls will make it in?

Yeh that's right, only 8 girls and 8 guys will make it into the house, 16 in total.

She sounds really experienced. How is she not in the UFC already? Is it her age?

It certainly is an odd one, she holds a win over current UFC competitor Alexis Davis and has only lost twice her last twenty or so fights. She is 35 though so perhaps they feel she's on the downhill of her career a little. Or as PBR said, it may just be to give her some hype going into the UFC.

As per usual I'd expect half a dozen or so of the fighters to be given shots in the UFC following the show, so unless she has a real stinker, she's almost certainly going to be one of them.

In other UFC Female news, if anyone missed it, Sheila Gaff was given the unfortunate honour recently of being the first women to be released from the UFC, following losses in her first two UFC bouts.

She's not in TUF, but former boxer Holly Holm could be one to watch out for, she'd no doubt be extremely disadvantaged in the grappling but could pose significant problems for her standing.

You can check out her most recent bout here, with the knockout happening about 9 minutes in, it's a beauty!

Despite being a boxer you can see she's rapidly improving the rest of her game with some tasty kicks, trains with Mike Winkeljohn down at Greg Jackson's and given her pro boxing background, she's someone the UFC could bring in with a bit of hype.

Yah Holm is good, Invicta has a few girls to would shine if the UFC opens a 115 pound division. Tara La rosa and Miesha don't get along so i'm guessing she's gonna be on ronda's team. I've seen Cody Bollinger fight before he lost but it was against Din Thomas. That kid has potential he just has to keep his head on straight

  • 3 weeks later...

Tara LaRosa vs Roxanna Modafferi for womens final and Daniel Martinez vs Cody Bollinger for mens final. I think LaRosa will win the womens final but as for the mens final i think it would be a close one but Martinez only losses are to top notch competitors but Bollinger unlike Houston Alexander, is for real

Tara LaRosa could be a good fight for Ronda -- her last fight though she just seemed off not sure if age kicking in or just something else that night

Honestly I think that being 35 and female has a bigger impact than being 35 and male. And especially since men can use that TRT. So it might have been age.

Will be interesting to see how it all will go down in the fighter house since there is men and women under the same roof this time (plus alcohol). WILL THERE BE... FUCKING? :D :D

I mean they are secluded with the opposite sex and working out and fighting I am sure that there will be some behind the scenes extras going on during the after hours.

some decent fights on there -- have to say im surprised larosa didnt make it but then again im not cause she is getting up there in age but i really thought she had a good chance to win this thing -- next weeks fight between braszler and pena could be a good fight -- braszler has edge in everything i would say but pena had some drive and looked to hit pretty hard

Tate is pretty but that nose I cannot dig. Just being honest here.
