"Though the pen is mightier than the sword, the sword speaks louder and stronger at any given moment."
- Leonard Wibberley

It began back in the year 2009, when an 18 year old unknown fighter first stepped into an MMA cage. The nerves were on edge, his heart was racing, his pulse quickening, trickles of sweat slipping down his brow. As soon as his opponent stepped into the cage opposite him however, he felt at easy. His pulse slowed, his heart calmed, the nerves settled, and the sweat quickly evaporated. While he may not have known it at the time, looking back, that is when Grant Brophy (38705) knew that he had started something that would be almost 22 years (Game time) in the making!

Welcome to my thread regarding my projects who will be fighting under the Brophy banner! From this thread, I will be updating their progress, making comments on them, posting any smacktalk they engage in, and doing different write ups regarding them. Now, enough of the blabbering on from me, I think it is time you met the fighters.......

"The Outcast" Michael Brophy

Relations:

Father - Grant Brophy

Half Brother - Conor Brophy

Half Brother - Grant Brophy Jr.

Cousin - Bob Brophy

Brother-In-Law - John Brophy

The outsider of the Brophy family, Michael's life is significantly different to his brothers, Grant and Conor. While Grant dedicated to MMA and Conor enjoyed different activities growing up, Michael's only concern was the next chick he could hook up with, or where the next party was. He didn't care for age (as long as it was legal), and would have girls throw themselves at him. After taking his first drugs at age 15, the next two years of self-abuse and underage drinking would force him to flee the family home at the age of 17, merely two months after his birthday, and they wouldn't hear word from him since then.

After realising the state that drugs and alcohol had left his life in, Michael began to live a clean lifestyle, but it was a struggle without any support. He would live in a forest, where he would find wild berries and the occasional fruit or vegetable, and he shrunk from an overweight 280lbs all the way down to 158lbs, all while exercising daily and getting involved in spiritual exercise. He would be found by a man named Bray Wyatt, who took him to his house in the forest where he gave him some food and shelter until he felt better. Michael would spend hours a day talking to Bray, as he was fascinated by some of his ideas, especially as he hadn't had human interaction for almost a full year!

Michael came back to the cabin one day to find Bray had already packed up his belongings. On the bag was a Private Jet ticket to fly to London. Confused by this, Michael asked what was going on. Bray explained that he had heard from his manager, Grant Brophy, who said he needed a fighter for the upcoming Insanity's Mad Hatter Tournament! Bray explained to him that he told him that he found Michael, and that immediately Grant Brophy's PA, Michael Brophy's father, demanded that Michael be chosen. So with that, Michael set off for London, where he was reunited with his father, and he took up residence in the family home once more, before beginning his career in MMA.

He has already competed in 2 MMA fights.

The first was a battle against Lester Naygard. Michael dominated from start to finish, using the clinch to work over his opponent for two rounds, before finishing him in the third.

The next was the first fight in Insanity's Mad Hatter Tournament, and his opponent was against All-American Wrestler, Bjork Freeze. Michael Brophy impressed even more in this fight, as his opponent didn't even make it out of the first round! After initiating the clinch, Michael was able to avoid his opponent's attempts to take the fight to the ground, and was able to lay waste with some vicious punches, which forced a referee stoppage. With all so far so good for Michael, it just means we have to wait to see if his reunion with his family can continue to be a happy one!

"The Berlin Bruiser" Bob Brophy

Relations:

Uncle - Grant Brophy

Cousin - Michael Brophy

Cousin - Conor Brophy

Cousin - Grant Brophy Jr.

Cousin-In-Law - John Brophy

Bob Brophy, you could say, is the most outside member of the family (depending on your view of Michael of course) as he hasn't seen any of them, apart from Uncle Grant when he would visit his sister (Bob's Mother) during holidays, in his life. After wiping up most of the competition in underground bare-knuckle boxing contests in Germany, Bob decided he needed to see more of the world.

He got in contact with a few people, some of which told him they had nothing for him. Upon contacting Grant however, he got a message saying Grant needed someone to fight for him in a tournament which would take place in New York City. Bob, knowing he would get to see both London and New York City through this, agreed eagerly and flew out to London to meet with Grant.

He found out that the tournament he was entering would be the Gangs of New York tournament, which was extremely popular in Germany when it happened last time. He found out who his teammates were, and he immediately began preparing for the tournament...

Bob has already had two fights in his MMA career, his first being a QFC which he won via TKO (Strikes) in Round 1.

His second fight was his first fight in the Gangs of New York tournament, and after a tough fought battle, he lost via Unanimous Decision to a great opponent in Tearrius George.

"Dutch Gold" John Brophy

Relations:

Father-In-Law: Grant Brophy

Brother-In-Law: Conor Brophy

Brother-In-Law: Grant Brophy Jr.

Brother-In-Law: Michael Brophy

Cousin-In-Law: Bob Brophy

John Brophy is linked to the rest of the Brophy family through marriage to Conor's twin sister. Showing respect for the family name, John decided to drop his own last name (Which we couldn't pronounce anyway) and took on the name of Brophy.

While the others compete in MMA, John Brophy has stated he wishes to follow in the paths of fellow Dutchmen by becoming one of the world's best in KT! WIth the closing of his gym in Groningen, John took up Grant's offer of relocating him to London, and he has been training there ever since.

He achieved the nickname of Dutch Gold after attending a party in Ireland with the rest of the family, and he was drinking cans of Dutch Gold, a cheap beer. After getting extremely drunk, John claimed that when he was ready to fight, it wouldn't be long before he had gold around his waist, and that would make it Dutch gold, at which point he tried forcing his can to be his belt buckle.

John has yet to have a fight yet in his career, but he is hoping that when the time is right, he will step into the ring or cage as prepared as possible, and will come out with a winning start.

"The Swagicorn" Conor Brophy

Relations:

Father - Grant Brophy

Half-Brother - Grant Brophy Jr.

Half Brother - Michael Brophy

Brother-In-Law - John Brophy

Cousin - Bob Brophy

Conor Brophy is the cocky upstart of the family, and the guy you really don't want to lose to, because he will remind you of it every time you talk to him. Having a variety of interests growing up meant Conor made friends with a lot of social groups, but never really stuck with any of them.

Growing up with an MMA loving family, Conor decided he would work on it himself, and he immediately threw himself into Wrestling. Become an All-England champion for his weight class, he became world reknowned by being an alternate for the UK team at the World Championships, aged only 16. It was said to be a masterstroke by the coaching team, as Conor would often sit on the bench in his Unicorn clothing, which would psychologically freak his opponents out. His team reached the Semi-Finals before losing to the stone faced Russian team, who seemed to be infuriated at Conor's abundance of colour, and they promptly broke the arm of Conor's teammate. Luckily, the fight was ruled a DQ, but his team still lost, so Conor didn't have the chance to compete in the finals.

He started training at his dads gym upon returning, claiming he wanted to be the best grappler in the world, especially as he was already the best grappler in the family. Conor's favourite thing to do when trying to put his opponent off is to constantly mutter "swag" while competing, and after winning, he would yell "The Swagicorn wins bitch". Nobody, not even in the family, knows why he does this, but they support him and are encouraged that he will be a great fighter in the future.

"The Prodigal Son" Grant Brophy Jr.

Relations:

Father - Grant Brophy

Half-Brother - Michael Brophy

Half-Brother - Conor Brophy

Brother-In-Law - John Brophy

Cousin - Bob Brophy

Wanting to be an MMA fighter since he was old enough to throw a leg kick, Grant Brophy Jr. was given his father's name, and he intends on living up to his father's legacy. Grant Brophy Jr aspires to be a world renowned icon in the MMA world, and fights in the Welterweight division, just like his father before him.

Linking up with the same manager as his father just increases the similarities, and his style of fighting can be described as similar as well, as he is a Muay Thai prodigy. He got into trouble constantly for fighting, as he sought to assert his combat prowess amongst his age group, and eventually started training with older groups as he sought to learn more.

He described his family as having a good balance, stating "We have a couple of clinchers, a kickboxer, a wrestler, and now with me, we also have a Muay Thai MMA fighter. I believe I have the power to knock out anybody in the world, so it is just about training to ensure that I have the skills to go with that power".

Grant Brophy Jr. has already had one fight in his career, as he went one on one with Igor Lewandowski, and he showed why he is called "The Prodigal Son" as he finished the fight in 13 seconds! Softening up his opponent with 3 leg kicks, he threw a monstrous head kick his dad would be proud of, and he celebrated a first victory in the cage. Will he be able to live up to his father's billing? Only time will tell, but with his family and team around him, the future is bright for Grant Brophy Jr.

So a topic where you just will dobble post stuff from other smacktalks?? Spin and Win whore :P :shades:

This is mainly going to be posting updates on their progress, like a fight coming up, a fight that just happened, blah blah blah. Won't be much in terms of smacktalk, just their view on the fight without actually saying anything towards the opponent, more about the fighter's general feeling to the fight.

Most of that story is true by the way guys, if you didn't know already. There is a couple additions in there but.. Most is true. Especially the part where I say "Swag" I do that a lot, even when gaming on like COD.

Yeah I am keeping the direct smacktalk in the relevant org threads, but general things will be in here. So if I wanna call out a guy, do it in the org smacktalk, but thoughts on the fighter I am coming up against will be in here, and there won't be another post on it unless the opponent posts here too, or after the fight itself.

Ok that sounds like a plan :), i think some of my Fighters will offer from time to time support or what ever. :shades:

"The Outcast" Michael Brophy

2-1-0

Disaster struck Michael Brophy in the Mad Hatter tournament as he was knocked out in 20 seconds by Darren Kissel. While it may have exposed a weakness in his chin, Michael was as confident as ever about getting back on the horse and threw himself into his training.

He has been matched up in his next fight against Dr Thork, a BJJ fighter, and Michael claims this is the exact kind of fight he feels he will dominate

"Thork's wrestling isn't that great, so he shouldn't be able to get the takedown on me, if he wants to clinch and pull guard, I ain't letting him get in the clinch, I am gonna dominate him from range, and we will see if he makes it out of the first round"

Certainly some strong words from Michael, who we have heard has been convinced to join Alcoholics Anonymous after the rest of the family got worried about him after a wild night. He was found the next morning in a strangers house with 4 women and another man, which also convinced him to go to a Sex Addicts support class. We wish Michael the best with his recovery, and hope it doesn't affect his training for his upcoming fight.
