BFL: Bloodbath - Preview

Main Card
-----------------------

Main Event

King Kong (5-0) Vs. Oskar Schmidt (7-2) - Super Heavyweight Bout

Our Main Event of the night features the TOP two fighters in the entire organization. The most hyped men in BFL will look to knock each others heads off in this one. King Kong, former West Coast Fights Heavyweight Champion, is heading into this one undefeated with five wins to his name. And when I said that the most hyped men in BFL will look to knock each others heads off, I meant it. King Kong’s dominant victories over his career thus far have all been straight KNOCKOUTS in the very first round (only one going past a minute). Four out of the five coming from a head kick, and all five gifting him KO of the night bonuses. King Kong will more than likely look to add Oskar Schmidt to his list of KO’d opponents. Schmidt, on the other hand, is also not very shy of making his opponents punching bags, as all seven of his wins have come from (T)KO. Once Schmidt gets you to the ground, the fight may as well be over. Whether he straight up knocks you out, or makes you tap out due to strikes, you’ll more than likely regret getting on the ground with this guy. I don’t see how this fight won’t end without another (T)KO being added to the win column of one of these fighters. Kong will for sure be looking to stay on his feet against a very proven wrestler, and we’ll have to see if Schmidt will be able to get him out of his comfort zone.

Only one fight, out of the 14 fights these fighters had combined, went to a decision. Get hype BFL fans, because we could have an absolute BATTLE on our hands come BFL: Bloodbath. We’ve got an undefeated streak on the line and two finishers getting into the cage. I cannot wait to see how this one goes down.

Unless Kong knocks Schmidt out early into this one, I see Schmidt taking the fight by TKO (Strikes)

Writer’s Prediction: Oskar Schmidt - TKO (Strikes) - Round 2

Co-Main Event

Chadyous Bizihwaeile (0-1) Vs. Kandal Feynman (0-2) - Welterweight Bout

For our Co-Main Event, we’ve got two youngsters getting into the cage in an attempt of securing their first professional win. Chadyous comes into this one after losing his debut fight, but he’s obviously been training hard for the past couple of months leading up to this fight. He is by far the better wrestler and reports say that he has been working on his standup skills as well. It’ll be fun to watch his approach gameplan wise for this one. Kandal has a granite chin but hasn’t been able to find his groove in his first couple fights. Some might say that this one is a must win for Kandal in order for him to stay confident and motivated moving forward. Either way, he seems to be a slightly better standup fighter and should try to keep the fight on the feet and go for a finish.

Writer’s Prediction: Chadyous Bizihwaeile - Decision (Unanimous)

Fight 8

Shay O’ Donnelly Vs. Thaddues Dettman (8-2) - Lightweight Bout

Up next, we have two sensational standup fighters going head to head in the cage in a bout that looks to be an absolute slugfest. Shay is currently 2-0 and finished both of his fights via knockout in just under a minute in the very first round. The 25 year old will surely look to continue his undefeated streak with a win similar to the other two, but Thaddeus is also a proven striker. He went 6-0 before finally losing his first fight in a QFC bout by unanimous decision. And after starting a winning streak of 2 wins, he too will look to continue the streak in this one. He’s got the experience, having ten fights under his name; however, Shay has something that Thaddeus doesn’t: A granite chin. While Thaddeus does have a solid chin, it still hurts to know that your opponent won’t go down easy.

This one is a Muay Thai vs Boxing showdown, and I expect this one to be the fight of the night, or to have some sort of award come the end of it. Shay recently had social media on their toes as he hyped the fight up with some simple trash talk, saying “You’re getting slept” and @ ing his opponent. We’ll see if he’s able to do what he intends.

Writer’s Prediction: Shay O’ Donnelly - TKO (Strikes) - Round 1

Fight 7

Rouse Horn (0-0) Vs. Jonah Rock (0-1) - Super Heavyweight Bout

And next up, we’ve got a debuting fighter, Rouse Horn, going up against Jonah Rock. Horn is coming into this one as a purple belt. He’s a competent wrestler, but the ground is 100% where he feels at home. We can definitely expect a few takedowns in his debut and maybe a submission win from the superior BJJ specialist. For Rock, he was unable to grab a debut win against the heavy handed five five, but looks to redeem himself at Bloodbath. Unfortunately for Rock, it was discovered that he cuts fairly easily and obviously this won’t be good for him in his future fights. All around, he is a decent fighter, but may not be good enough on the ground to compete with a purple belt who is also a slightly better wrestler. We’ve seen much crazier things happen though, and shouldn’t count Rock out for this disadvantage.

While I don’t want to count him out for the disadvantage, it is still hard to predict anything else with what we know about the two fighters.

Writer’s Prediction: Rouse Horn - Submission (Armbar) - Round 3

Fight 6

Mukti Junior (1-0) Vs. Bob Dole (0-1) - Super Heavyweight Bout

For our next fight, two young prospects go toe to toe in a super heavyweight bout. In Mukti’s first fight, he put his opponent away in 35 seconds with a vicious combo. Fans certainly are excited to see more from this youngster after putting on that type of show. He tends to cut, but as long as he’s the one landing the shots, it shouldn’t be a problem for him. But what he might need to avoid come fight night is takedowns. Dole is the better ground fighter but wasn’t able to show off his skills in his debut bout, as he lost to a far superior wrestler via a ground and pound beatdown. Hopefully, he can show the world what he’s made of in his second fight against Mukti. Good news for Mukti, however, the most interesting thing that they could come with about Dole is that he likes comics, which certainly isn’t a good thing for Dole.

I believe that Mukti will be able to scramble and avoid the takedowns that Dole will surely be pressuring him with. I only see another early knockout in this one for Mukti, but I’ve been wrong before.

Writer’s Prediction: Mukti Junior - KO (Punch) - Round 1

Fight 5

Mince Bony (0-1) Vs. Arlan Tolkynbekov (0-1) - Lightweight Bout

And next up, two fighters look to prove themselves in BFL after a disappointing start to their careers. Bony attempted to kickstart his career off with the hopes of winning a QFC Tournament. Unfortunately for him, he went up against a Brown Belt in BJJ who took advantage of Mince quickly after getting him on the ground. Mince is pretty solid all around, but excels the most when it comes to his boxing; however, he might not be able to utilize his boxing with a wonderful Muay Thai specialist in Arlan. Arlan will most likely attempt to clinch throughout the fight, and if he’s successful with it, this one could end early/with a finish. Though, it is possible that Arlan could attempt to stay on the outside and use his muay thai there. We’ll have to wait and see.

I feel that Mince Bony is able to take any approach he wishes into this, while Arlan should/can only try to keep this one away from the ground. And for this, I have Mince Bony taking the W.

Writer’s Prediction: Mince Bony - Decision (Majority)

BFL: The Return - Preview

Main Card
---------------------

Main Event

Hugo Boss (1-0) Vs. Papaw Ironblood (2-0) - Light Heavyweight Bout

In our main event of the evening, one man will receive their first loss at the hand of their opponent. Hugo Boss is all around a great fighter, but he is an excellent wrestler. He won his first fight with a kneebar in 28 seconds of the very first round at the first ever BFL event “BCFL 1”. Since then, it’s obvious that this kid has been working on his wrestling and his standup, and looks to be learning quickly. His opponent, Ironblood, is 2-0 and won both fights by unanimous decision in dominating fashion, not giving either opponents a chance. He’s been exposed to the later rounds unlike Boss and that experience may be what helps him in this fight if it reaches that point.

Boss has only had one fight and surely wants to prove that his debut wasn’t a fluke and that he can continue a run of pure dominance. Ironblood has shown how accurate he is in the standup, but he’s never fought a brown belt before. It’ll be interesting to see how he performs against Boss.

I feel that Ironblood could come into this and take the first round, but one slip up could cost him the fight.

Writer’s Prediction: Hugo Boss - Submission - Round 2

Co-Main Event

Lauris Darzins (4-2) Vs. Eddie Curtis (0-1) - Lightweight Bout

In our co-main event, we have got brown belt, Lauris Darzins, heading into the cage against the brawler, Eddie Curtis. Eddie had a disappointing start to his MMA Career, taking a loss in under a minute to a better boxer. He’s got his chin up, however, getting himself into another fight quickly, this time against a more experienced fighter in Lauris Darzins. As you can tell, Eddie isn’t afraid of a challenge and will look to prove himself and hopefully get his first win at BFL: The Return. Curtis is the better wrestler AND boxer of the two, and will more than likely look to keep this one on the feet and look for the knockout. Darzins should look to get this fight on the ground at all costs, and after his TKO (Slam) victory against Brent Kramer, he’s gotta be full of confidence heading into this one. He’s the bigger man of the two, being heavier and about 7 inches taller than Eddie. It’ll be interesting to see how this affects the bout

Writer’s Prediction: Eddie Curtis - Decision (Unanimous)

Fight 8

Tye Dollasign (0-2) Vs. Artorias Vendal (1-0) - Lightweight Bout

Up next, Tye Dollasign looks to earn his first career victory after going down 0-2 in two lackluster performances. Artorias Vendal is two years older than Tye at 20 years of age and is currently undefeated after securing his debut win in a QFC bout. Vendal has shown he’s the better grappler and he’s also got a solid chin. I don’t think we’ve seen enough of Dollasign to really criticize him too hard, but this rough start he’s gotten into and an opponent coming off of a strong finish makes this fight hard to predict otherwise. Tye has got a granite chin; however, he was knocked out cold in his last fight after allowing himself to get absolutely pummeled for three rounds.

I have Vendal dominating this fight and taking it by decision. We’ll see if Tye Dollasign is able to make me eat my words come BFL: The Return...

Writer’s Prediction: Artorias Vendal - Decision (Unanimous)

Fight 7

Jay Gatsby (1-0) Vs. Paddy Ryan (3-1) - Welterweight Bout

For our next fight, we have got two very similar fighters going toe to toe in what very well could be our fight of the night. After defeating Tony Diaz by decision in what was the fight of the night at BFL: Sucker Punch, Jay Gatsby will attempt to climb the ladder in his division by taking on the 3-1 Paddy Ryan. Ryan’s 4 fights all ended in a finish in the very first round due to TKO and with both men mainly being standup fighters, I expect to see an absolute slugfest. Whether this one goes the distance or ends in the first round, I’d say we’ve got a hell of a fight on our hands.

Writer’s Prediction: Paddy Ryan - TKO (Punches) - Round 2

Fight 6

Tony Diaz (1-1) Vs. Kandal Feynman (0-3) - Welterweight Bout

Up next, the youngsters Tony Diaz and Kandal Feynman go head to head. Tony Diaz is currently 1-1 and with his style of mixing boxing with BJJ could prove effective in this bout. He’s the slightly better boxer and Kandal’s 3 losses all came to grapplers. Kandal needs to keep this fight standing no matter what if he wishes to end this slump he’s in. It’ll be an interesting fight to watch and both fighters still need to prove they belong in BFL.

Writer’s Prediction: Tony Diaz - Decision (Unanimous)

Fight 5

Osloso Bizihwaeile (0-2) Vs. Juan Rodrigo (0-3) - Welterweight Bout

For the first bout on the main card, we have two strikers without a win, looking to turn things around for themselves. Neither of the two have made it past the first round and I believe that that’ll be the round this fight finishes in as well. Juan Rodrigo has been defeated by Paddy Ryan twice in a row and now he steps into the cage with a superior boxer in Osloso. This one could prove a challenge for Juan with his confidence slowly running dry but hopefully he collects himself and can put up a great fight.

Osloso has the advantage in my books, and for that I’ve got him taking this one early.

Writer’s Prediction: Osloso Bizihwaeile - TKO (Strikes) - Round 1

Undercard

Sean O’Sullivan Vs. Jeff Fafa - Lightweight Bout

Joey Deertay Vs. Jonah Rock - Super Heavyweight Bout

Ice Cube Vs. Brandon Waldrop - Super Heavyweight Bout

Uraya Berrio Vs. Jack Tupp - Super Heavyweight Bout

SHAY O'DONNELLY

"Another first round KO for ShaDo, I'm calling my shot. Dae Seung Kim and I are the two highest ranked in the division. Give him to me, and title fight or no title fight, I'll play tic tac toe on his face and have him out cold inside a minute. Bet on it. Hiding behind a padded record, strip that off and he's a glass chinned nobody waiting to be slept."

"No more messing around Kim, they'll be picking your teeth up from the canvas for a week"
