JAG Battle League - Trials By Fire Event Previews

Following on from the hugely successful title night last week is going to be difficult but you can’t always have 3 titles on the line in one night. The big winners last week were Budo winning the 205 weight title, Takashi succeeding in the 185 category and Dada taking the honours in the 135 division. Well done to all involved and congratulations on winning the belts - don’t get too comfortable as I can smell the competition looking to steal your hard won belts from you! Enjoy the success when you have it as there is only one way to go now that you have reached the top :)

Next night of mayhem is next Saturday when Bader and Alexandre go toe to toe at the top of the bill fighting for the glory of being the Lightweight JAG Battle League champ best of luck to both fighters.

Chet “The Master” Bader Tiago Alexandre

Record 2-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 2-0-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/5/5b2.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/27/27b1.jpg

Alexandre has two wins to his name in his short career in JAG Battle League where the smartest managers send their rookie fighters to get blooded in the art of battle. He has beaten Van Der Merwe by way of Submission RNC and Ward by way of a unanimous decision in his previous outings. Alexandre has the heart of a lion and will run all day long which he may need to overcome the Master who is also defending an 2 fight unbeaten streak. Bader has won both his fights by way of submission as well in both of his fights but has been able to dispatch his opponents quicker than Alexandre, he has won both his fights in the first round so expect him to attack Alexandre from the first bell. Both these lads are evenly matched in the BJJ and both like to spend time on the ground so this should be interesting, Alexandre is better than Bader on the Wrestling and BJJ side but Bader is much stronger on the boxing and MT skills. Lets see if Bader tries to keep the fight standing rather than going to ground where Alexandre would have the advantage. Best of luck to both fighters on their first title shots.

VERDICT: Bader

Jack “Nasty Pasty” Nasty Punch Drunk

Record 3-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 3-0-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/37/37b28.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/20/20w14.jpg

This is England V Canada for this fight and both fighters are defending 3 win hotstreaks. Lets see if Nasty will be blowing bubbles at the end of this fight or if he will be slinking home to his model fiancé Daniella Whatername. Nasty looks a little tired coming into this fight and probably could have done with some more rest but this boy knows how to fight as he has won his previous fights by decision, KO and Submission so has a good variety of skills to call on. Drunk on the other hand has 3 wins by KO’s with his most recent KO by way of Superman Punch which is an impressive feat by itself

Drunk has the much better Boxing and MT talent on show with Nasty shading it on the Wrestling and BJJ side. Expect Drunk to come out swinging and given how tired Nasty looks I am going to predict a round 1 KO for Drunk. However if Nasty can get in close and take Drunk down to the canvas he has a chance.

VERDICT: Drunk

Gunna Win Michael “Dark Destroyer” Dark

Record 4-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 2-0-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/19/19w1.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/11/11b3.jpg

This should be interesting in that Win is carrying an injury coming into this fight but Dark looks tired so will he be able to take advantage of Win’s injury?? Win probably could have done with another week or so to recover but he is still bravely going into the ring tomorrow. Win has 4 wins to his name and all by way of KO or TKO and he has never had to go beyond round one to win any of them so this man really knows how to end fights early, he will need to do the same tomorrow night as Dark has some pretty good boxing skills to bring to bear. This fight has the hallmarks of a real toe to toe slugfest. Both fighters throw a lot of punches and expect the same tomorrow night as well. This could be the fight of the night in my opinion! Dark has really good boxing but win has Wonderful MT to counter and both are even enough in wrestling but Dark showing the better wrestling talent. If Win was not carrying an injury I would have tipped him easily for this bout but even though Dark is looking tired that might just be for show as he has been brought up in East London and is hard as nails ! I’m really struggling to call this one but due to his propensity to win in the first round I’m gonna favour Win as if he ends it early his injury shouldn’t come into play.

VERDICT: Gunna Win

Moshe “Great Moses” Rabenu Arnoldas Sireika

Record 5-1-0 (W-L-D) Record 2-0-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/40/40b28.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/6/6w18.jpg

Rabenu is a relatively new addition to the JAG stable and brings 5 previous wins with him so he is definitely a guy that knows how to win. Given he of Israeli descent his military service with IDF should serve him well in the ring. He has won all his previous bouts by way of TKO Strikes with only one going into round 2. Sireika is a little bit less experienced but has yet to taste the bitter taste of defeat, he has 2 wins from 2 bouts and has won by TKO and Decision in both of them. He has an excellent pair of hands and is not afraid to use then and in his last win his clinchwork was phenomenal and he threw 30 punches in clinches with all of them landing on target. Rabenu is the much better boxer but Sireika is miles ahead in the MT department. This should be an interesting fight with Rabenu trying to take the fight to the canvas to try to pound Sireika out of existence and Sireika probably trying to stay standing in the clinch and case some serious damage while clinching.

VERDICT: Sireika

Due to time constraints, i.e. I was on the beer last night and am absolutely knackered and need to head to bed soon I am not able to put my predictions on the other fights for this event - sorry about that but normal service should resume next week.

Good luck to all fighters and managers and please don’t forget to upvote this post using the green arrow on the post as shown belowif you like it :)

Quick update on the previous event that took place last weekend with a great rating of 84.85 and the 155lb lightweight title going to Tiago Alexandre who won by way of submission in the first round. Well done to Alexandre and hard lick to Bader whose morale will have taken a hit but I’m sure he’ll bounce back. Some other notable events were the fight of the night going to Thip Top V Rich Zalou, KO of the night for the aptly named Punch Drunk and Submission of the night going to Tiago Alexandre who took home a belt and $1,000 cash for his submission - not a bad night all round for him!

The rest of the results for the night were as follows:

265 lbs 3 Punch Drunk Jack Nasty KO (Punch) 1 00:14

205 lbs 3 Gunna Win KO (Punch) 1 01:21

185 lbs 3 Arnoldas Sireika TKO (Strikes) 2 03:21

145 lbs 3 Thip Top Submission (Strikes) 3 02:08

205 lbs 3 William Norman KO (Punch) 1 01:46

265 lbs 3 Daniel Comier TKO (Cut) 1 01:33

185 lbs 3 John Miles KO (Punch) 1 00:32

205 lbs 3 Mark Steve Jr TKO (Strikes) 1 00:25

170 lbs 3 Paulo Rodrigues Decision (Unanimous) 3 05:00

Well done to all the victors and their managers.

Next event is the Test of Wills part II with the main event being the showdown between Skrtic & Wendel

Drogovan "The Strangler" Skrtic Mathias Wendel

Record 4-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 3-1-0 (W-L-D

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/1/1w18.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/8/8b2.jpg

Skrtic is on a real hot streak at present with 4 wins to date and all of them rather aptly coming from submissions given his nickname of the Strangler. All his wins have been in the first round so he can be expected to come out aggressively to try to take Wendel to the canvas where his brawling skills can come into play. In all of Skrtic’s last fights he has never gone toe to toe with a fighter and has always closed in distance and kept the fight on the ground where he excels. Wendel on the other hand has one defeat to his name and 3 wins by KO (Punch) so he is the absolute opposite to Skrtic! Wendel’s punching accuracy is phenomenal and in his last fight he landed every single one of his 11 punches on target and absolutely made bits of Daddy in his fight putting him out cold after only 1.30mins of round one. In fact Wendel’s punching is so accurate every punch he has ever thrown in all his wins have landed. The tale of the tape on this one shows Wendel miles ahead in MT and slightly better in Wrestling but Skrtic well ahead in BJJ and slightly better at boxing. This is really hard to call and if Skrtic gets in close to Wendel and takes him down it should be interesting as Wendel isn’t a bad wrestler but with his wonderful MT I would expect Wendel to try to stay standing and try to knock Skrtic out.

Verdict: Wendel

Next up

Martin “The Python” Sedlacek Ted “Zodiac Killer” Cruz

Record 4-1-0 (W-L-D) Record 2-1-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/34/34w22.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/37/37w8.jpg

Sedlacek lost his last outing which was the title fight against Dada on 14th July last and he is looking to bounce back from that disappointment although he did take Dada to the wire and only lost by way of decision in the end. This was Sedlacek’s only loss to date and he took a lot of punishment in that fight so he will be looking to take some of that out on Cruz at the weekend. All of Sedlacek’s wins to date have been by way of Submission so his groundwork is very good. Cruz on the other is known as and excellent boxer and knows how to take a punch and has some decent BJJ talent. Cruz has a definite advantage in the boxing department but Sedlacek has much more talent in MT, wrestling and BJJ so unless Cruz can put Sedlacek on his ass in the early part of the round he could be in trouble if Sedlacek gets in close and is able to counter Cruz’s much better boxing talent.

Verdict: Sedlacek

Kreemo “Goat” Dada Rudi “The Monster” De Bruin

Debut fight Record 2-0-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/31/31b19.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/24/24w13.jpg

This is a different Dada to the current title holder mentioned above! Dada hails from Uganda and is stepping into the cage for the first time with the Monster who is has 2 wins from his 2 fights. Monsters wins have been by way of Decision and Submission. The Monster has a tendency to cut easily so if Dada wants to win this one he may need to use his superior MT skills to land some telling blows to see if he can open The Monster up to end the bout. The Monster has the much better boxing & BJJ skills but Dada shades it in MT and Wrestling. I’m gonna tip Dada for a debut win in this fight.

Verdict: Dada

Carlos Andrade "Marreta" Pat "Music" Michaels

Record 1-2-0 (W-L-D) Record 1-2-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/10/10w7.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/1/1w16.jpg

Marreta is not having a good run at present and has lost his last 2 fights by way of TKO and a unanimous decision while Michaels has won his last bout by by of Submission at the start of July. Andrade is the much better boxer than Michaels but Michaels shades it in all the other categories and looks to be in a much better state of mind than Marreta. Michaels is a clever opponent and can adapt to the fight when required if things are not going his way however Andrade is an excellent boxer with a lot of power so if he hits Michaels it could be good night for Michaels! I’m not sure that Andrade is ready for this fight so I would expect it to end very quickly!

Verdict: Michaels.

Well done to all the fighters that took part in the Test of Wills II particularly the new champ Mathias Wendel who beat Skrtic in the 170 title fight which ended quickly enough after less than a minute when Wendel landed a beautiful right hand to open Skrtic up and it was game over after that! List of the other winners on the night are as follows:

170 lbs 5 Mathias Wendel Drogovan Skrtic KO (Punch) 1 00:54 170 lbs Title

135 lbs 3 Martin Sedlacek Ted Cruz Submission (Triangle) 2 02:55

155 lbs 3 Kreemo Dada Rudi De Bruin TKO (Punches) 1 00:13

145 lbs 3 Pat Michaels Carlos Andrade Decision (Unanimous) 3 05:00

170 lbs 3 Larry Haggus Billy Fotherby Submission (Armbar) 1 02:38

170 lbs 3 Khabib Nurmagoduv Ethan Wright TKO (Strikes) 3 03:32

135 lbs 3 Michael Collins Theodore Barnett TKO (Strikes) 1 02:51

170 lbs 3 Henry Shaw Paulo Rodrigues TKO (Strikes) 1 01:08

170 lbs 3 Luis Fernandes Hal Joseph Decision (Unanimous) 3 05:00

Next event to take place is this Saturday and is JBL 3 Budo V Dee and is a full 10 fight card. There are two titles on the line for this event the 205 and the 265 titles with Budo defending his title which he won on the 14th July and the 265 title which is currently vacant which is being fought over by Standup V Drunk.

Main event

Thay "Sleeping Pill" Budo Bobby "Sovereign" Dee

Record 5-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 6-0-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/15286846848534.png http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/15/15w12.jpg

This looks to be a very evenly matched pairing and both of these lads have yet to taste defeat in the ring - that is going to end (probably very painfully) for one of these guys on Saturday. Budo is the defending champ and has is not showing any fear of losing his title by defending it so soon after winning it recently. Budo despite his nickname is an animal in the ring and has won all his fights by way of TKO/KO strike or punches. Budo is a man that likes to throw a punch and has serious power in his arms he is also very accurate with his hands and doesn’t miss too often when he throws a punch. Budo doesn’t like going to ground whereas Dee is the opposite and all his wins whilst coming the same way as Budo by TKO/KO he has won his fights with ground strikes rather than staying upright. This will be interesting to see if Dee can take Budo out of his comfort zone and bring him to the canvas where Budo may struggle. Budo is absolutely miles better than Dee in boxing but Dee shades it in MT and BJJ. This really should be an interesting fight. I’m gonna tip Budo to retain his title

Verdict: Budo

Next title is the 265lbs category and its Fighter V Drunk.

Standup Fighter Punch Drunk

Record 5-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 4-0-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/14760593138760.png http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/20/20w14.jpg

I’ll have to admit that I love both of these fighters names and well done to both managers for their imagination. This is Canada versus the Netherlands and we’ll see if the travel over from Montreal takes anything out of Drunk. This is the maiden title fight at this weight and it should be a great fight. Neither of these lads has lost to date and both will be hoping to take the belt and another scalp at this event. Fighter has won 4 out of 5 of his fights by way of TKO and despite his name doesn’t try to spend much time standing during fights he has decent wrestling so he tends to try to take the fight to the canvas and finish it out from there. He doesn’t tend to finish his opponents quickly but has the engine to wear them down over a couple of rounds if he is allowed! Punch Drunk on the other hand is the complete opposite fighter and has won all 4 of his fights by way of KO with one ending in fantastic fashion with a superman punch taking out Teempson - Go Drunk…..

Drunk has ended all 4 of his previous fights in round one with his longest fight only lasting 1.50mins. This is a man that really knows how to hit. This fight is going to be interesting with Fighter wanting to hit the canvas and Drunk trying to stay standing where he has the boxing and MT advantage. Fighter is the better wrestler so if he can get Drunk down he will win. I have to say that I fancy Drunk to get the title on Saturday.

Verdict: Drunk

Next up with no title at stake but don’t expect them to show any mercy is Inu V Cohle.

Shiba "Woofu" Inu Ruston "Taxman" Cohle

Record 2-2-0 (W-L-D) Record 3-0-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/41/41a2.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/32/32w41.jpg

Inu is fresh from a defeat in his title shot against Takashi so he will be looking to bounce back with a win against Cohle who is off the back of 3 wins in a row. Inu has won his 2 fights by way of Submissions and has lost to a KO Punch and a decision in a fights where both fighter spent more time on the ground rolling around than Neymar in a Brazil match! Cohle is a former lawman but turned to MMA when he ran into a bunch of corrupt cops in Texas. He is known as the taxman because he has a personality everyone loves to hate, and who doesn’t hate the taxman? He has won all his fights by way of Submission, and as fights very similarly to his opponent on Saturday so this could go all the way at the weekend. Cohle has much better MT and boxing than Inu who shades him on the Wrestling and BJJ fronts. Cohle looks a little tired so if this goes over a couple of rounds he could be in trouble and he will need to try to keep the fight standing for as long as possible to make his MT and boxing advantage count and try to keep off the canvas.

VERDICT: Cohle

Next up Laperierre V Neckbreaker

Ian Laperierre Slammy Neckbreaker

Record 3-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 4-1-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/34/34b1.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/15265777823149.jpg

Ian is 3 and undefeated to date and has won his fights in a variety of manners, KO punch, Submission and Decision. He is a great wrestler and is strong as a bull and has taken many’s the punch and stayed standing. His Opponent Neckbreaker has won his 4 fights by way of TKO and KO by way of strikes and one by Punch. He is a good wrestler as well but enjoys throwing punches as well either standing or striking on the canvas, he is good at both. These two fighter are inseparable when comparing skills but Neckbreaker slightly edges it on the MT side which will help him if he can get Laperierre to the canvas. Given how even these lads are I’m torn but will go with Neckbreaker as I think he can use his wrestling ability to get Laperierre to the ground and then try to hammer him into the ground using his MT

Verdict: Neckbreaker.

JBL 3 Budo V Dee was a massive success with a sell out crowd watching Budo retain his title and seeing Punch Drunk win the inaugural 265lbs title. Well done to both fighters and managers. Will anyone be able to knock Budo from the top spot??

Summary of the night is as follows:

*** 205 lbs 5 Thay Budo Bobby Dee TKO (Strikes) 2 00:24

*** 265 lbs 5 Punch Drunk Standup Fighter TKO (Strikes) 2 00:58

Next big event is JBL IV Takashi V Sireika this coming Saturday night.

Saku Takashi Arnoldas Sireika

Record 4-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 3-0-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/41/41a1.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/6/6w18.jpg

Top of the bill is the 185lbs title fight with Takashi the current holder of the belt in this weight class. The pretender to the throne is Sireika who hails from Lithuania and is 3 fights undefeated and will be hoping to bring home the title belt on Saturday. Saku iwon the belt just under a month ago when defeating Shibu Inu in a tightly fought contest which went to a decision which went his way. Saku is a grinder with 3 of his wins going to decisions with only his debut win coming by way of TKO Strikes. Saku is a good wrestler and his fights to date seem to be spent on the canvas mainly with Saku using his remarkable wrestling skills to his advantage he is a persistent fighter as can be seen from his fights going the distance and he will take his time trying to improve his position to try to get the submission from his opponent. Sireika has won his 3 previous fights by way on TKO X2 and Decision. He is a very different fighter to Saku and will probably try to keep the fight standing where his Wonderful MT skills will come to the fore. He is a heavy handed fighter hows to to end fights so lets see how this one goes. If Sireika can keep out of range of Saku’s takedowns the title will be his!

VERDICT: Sireika

Mabo Dada Generic Guy

Record 6-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 2-0-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/23/23b12.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/19/19w12.jpg

Dado is the undisputed champ of the 135 lbs division and has a fantastic streak of 6 wins to his name with no defeats. He won the title for this weight in the middle of July when defeating Sedlacek in JBL 1 by way of decision after 5 rounds of war. He has won 3 of his 3 fights by way of TKO Strikes and the other 3 by way of Decisions. He is powerful man and is a fantastic puncher with more punches landing than miss and when he connects he really connects! You could ask some of his previous opponents how hard he hits but to be honest they wouldn’t be able to tell you as he has caused more cases of amnesia than a night of drinking single malt Irish whiskey cause! His opponent on Saturday is one of my guilty pleasures in JBL and I love the name for this guy Generic Guy, he is however anything but generic when it comes to his talent showing beating one of my fighters in his previous outing when he threw nearly 170 punches in clinches with my lad, I don’t know how Collins stayed standing to only lose by decision in the end the battering he took. He is a very accurate boxer and the majority of his punches/strikes actually hit their target so I think this should be a great fight on Saturday. Both of these fighters are evenly matched except in the MT department where Generic Guy has the advantage. I can smell an upset here :)

VERDICT: Generic Guy

Unai Vencedor Manny "Reaper" Johnson

Record 4-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 3-1-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/8/8b8.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/15267578275495.jpg

2 good fighters are next up and both of these could be title contenders if they can get a good run going. Unai had 4 wins from 4 and has won three by way of TKO Strike and on by KO so he certainly knows how to hit! Manny is similar other than he lost one fight by way of KO but other than that has won by either TKO with one decision going his way. Reaper likes to clinch with opponents then open them up when he can but he can also go toe to toe with another fighter and trade blows when required and enjoys a good brawl. Unai has a tendency to end his fights early and likes to brawl as well so this fight could be an old school toe to toe with whoever has the most capacity to soak up damage being the winner of this one. Johnson is the much better boxer and BJJ with Unai showing more talent in the MT and wrestling departments. If this fight stays standing then I would expect Johnson to win but is it goes to the ground Unai’’s superior wrestling might shade it for him

Verdict: Johnson

Seol Ki Hyon Jake "The Fat Sibling" Jones

Record 3-0-1 (W-L-D) Record 1-1-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/40/40w20.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/38/38w13.jpg

Hyon is undefeated to date with the only “blemish” being a draw when the judges were unable to separate him and Knock Out. His wins were by way of TKO strike, TKO cut and a unanimous decision in his debut fight. He likes to get in close and use his remarkable MT to is advantage, however he has been known to stay at distance and pepper punches at his opponent, quite accurately too I’d have to say! Jones has only one win and one loss to his name and his win was by way of KO Punch when he threw only 3 punches with 2 landing and absolutely destroyed his opponent after only 20 seconds of round 1! His only defeat was when he was kept on the canvas so he will need to try to stay on his feet if he can in this fight where he can use his boxing talent to his advantage although with Hyon’s MT skills this could backfire. I really can’t call this one and if I was to have a choice I would probably call it a draw but I’m gonna slightly favour Jones on this fight.

Verdict: Jones.

I will preview the rest of the fights separately if I get time and will post them here

The last event saw Mabo Dada lose his title fight against Generic guy but it was a fight that went to the wire with only a judge's decision separating them at the end. The other title was won by Arnoldas Sirekia who destroyed Takashi in the first round of their fight. Other results on the night were as follows:

Arnoldas Sireika Saku Takashi TKO (Strikes) 1 02:56 185 lbs Title

Generic Guy Mabo Dada Decision (Unanimous) 5 05:00 135 lbs Title

Unai Vencedor Manny Johnson KO (Punch) 1 00:52

Seol Ki Hyon Jake Jones TKO (Strikes) 2 03:52

Mark Steve Jr William Norman KO (Punch) 1 04:22

AKimbo Cutt Jack Nasty TKO (Strikes) 1 00:27

Frank Stallone Pat Michaels Submission (Kimura) 1 03:58

Diego Oriola Robin Good Submission (Americana) 1 00:26

Sao Alela Ethan Wright KO (Punch) 3 03:59

Bubba Jones Victor Viriato KO (Punch) 1 01:1

Well done to all concerned and I can see a rematch brewing between Generic Guy and Dado!

Next up is Test of Wills III in the Hard Knocks arena in London this Saturday. The 155 lbs title is on the line on the night with the holder Alexandre facing the challenge for the belt from De Bruin. Alexandre won the title only just under a month ago when defeating Bader to take the belt.

Alexandre as the title holder has it all to lost on the night but from a look at the challengers energy bar 3 days out he could do with a few days in a spa surrounded by a team of masseuse’s (happy endings optional) to get the energy levels back up or he might not make it into the cage this weekend! Alexandre is 3 wins from 3 fights and has won all but his debut in the first round. He likes to take the fight to the floor and 2 of his wins have been by way of submission. His standup skills are not impressive when pitted against De Bruin who has the much better Boxing and MT skills on show, I would fancy De Bruin to take the title from Alexandre if he was on top form but if he makes it to the fight I can only see one winner on Saturday.

Verdict: Alexandre

"The Viking" Erik Erikson Finnick Skywalker

Record 4-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 1-0-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/1/1w16.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/40/40w11.jpg

This is an all American tussle taking place in London, The Viking has an exceptional record coming into this fight with 4 wins from 4 however he looks a little grumpy at the moment for some reason and his morale is quite low - he could do with a private jet trip with a “friendly” stewardess to cheer him up :). The Vikings has a big engine and likes to get in close to cause damage when clinching and in his his last bout managed to land every one of his punches when clinching. He is a good wrestler as well so he is not unknown to collapse a clinch to do some of the old reliable GNP when required, so he has a couple of strings to his bow. His opponent on Saturday is a relatively unknown fighter from New York who has only won once to date (it was however his only fight :)). Skywalker (star wars fan manager methinks?) however threw nearly 100 punches in his last fight with a large majority hitting their target and it was only down to his opponents ability to soak up punishment that allowed the fight to go on for so long! This is hard to call but with Skywalker on the crest of a wave psychologically and with his superior MT this might shade the fight in his favour when clinching as both of these fighters are even enough other than the Vikings superior talent when it comes to boxing.

Verdict: Skywalker

Next up is the pairing of Sedlacek and Machida

Martin "The Python" Sedlacek Lyodo "Karate Kid" Machida

Record 5-1-0 (W-L-D) Record 2-1-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/34/34w22.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/31/31w45.jpg

Python has the better record of thest 2 fighters with 5 wins and only one loss, his only loss coming in the title fight against Dado which was no disgrace as Dado is a tough fighter. All of his wins have been by submissions which is how he earned his nickname of the the Python. He has ended 4 of his wins in the first round so he is a man that likes to come out of the blocks early and hard. His defeat was to Dada who kept the fight standing despite Sedlacek trying over 50 takedowns so this could be the key to defeating him on Saturday. Machida has a decent record to date coming into this fight and has 2 wins from 3 fights to date, his 2 wins have been by TKO and KO’s. He is determined and has some decent wrestling skills so is a force to be reckoned with. I think Sedlacek should shade this fight here but he will need to be careful as Machida is the better BJJ fighter so Sedlacek might not get it all his way if the fight ends up on the floor (which I suspect it will !)

Verdict: Sedlacek

Chet "The Master" Bader Kreemo "Goat" Dada

Record 2-1-0 (W-L-D) Record 1-0-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/5/5b2.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/31/31b19.jpg

Looks like an interesting fight on paper with the relatively untested Dada facing the Master on Saturday. Dada won his debut fight last time out by way of TKO punch after only 13 seconds and showing his absolute class when ending the fight with a couple of combo’s that put de Bruin on his back! Bader is coming to this fight off the back of a title defeat against Alexandre so his morale is not as high as Dada’s at present. Other than this defeat Bader has won his two fights by way of submission he has a good chin so should be interesting to see if he can take some of Dada’s punches and stay standing :). Dada is much better in boxing, MT and wrestling but Bader really excels in BJJ so this could be an interesting fight but my gut says that Dada is likely to end this fight very early

Verdict: Dada

Test of Wills III finished last week with Tiago Alexandre retaining the 155lbs title when defeating Gideon De Bruin in round one of his battle by way of submission, this one smells like a rematch at a time when De Bruin is better rested and I would love to see that fight

Next big night is this Saturday for Wendel V Skrtic (Part II) when there is 2 belts on the line in the 265 and 175 divisions.

The 265 title fight is between the defending champ Punch Drunk who is on a shit hot streak at present who is defending his title against Seol Ki Hyon and the second title bout is between holder Mathias Wendel and Drogovan Skrtic, these guys have history in the Skrtic has been beaten previously by Wendel only a couple of weeks ago to capture the title.

Mathias Wendel Drogovan “The Strangler” Skrtic

Record 4-1-0 (W-L-D) Record 4-1-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/8/8b2.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/1/1w18.jpg

Wendel is the holder of this title and made light work of Skrtic the last time they met when knocking him out after less than a minute of their bout by way of KO. It seems like Wendel punches as if he has horseshoes in his gloves he is that potent when he connects. All his wins have been courtesy of his heavy hands and he has KO (Punch) all the opponents he has beaten. He is quick too and has ended all his winning bouts in 1.30mins or less with his fastest win in 19 seconds. He came out swinging against Skrtic previously and if he does the same again this could be another quick fight! Skrtic has a pretty good record to date with his only loss coming against this opponent. All his wins have been by way of submission so he will be trying to get in under Wendels hands to try to take this fight to the canvas where he will have his best chance of defeating Wendel. Skrtic doesn’t throw punches and Wendel loves throwing them so this could end very quickly by way of KO or if Skrtic gets to the floor he will likely end the fight quickly with his much superior talent in BJJ. I think Wendel can hold onto his title on Saturday.

Punch Drunk Seol Ki Hyon

Record 5-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 4-0-1 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/20/20w14.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/40/40w20.jpg

Drunk is the undefeated champ of this division at the moment and lives up to his name in that he has a fantastic punching ability and has won all his fights by way of KO and TKO’s with a punch / strike being the cause of most of his wins with a beautiful superman punch thrown in for show! He won the title against Standup Fighter in the last event by JAG Battle League and is not resting on his laurels and is putting his shiny new belt at risk by stepping into the ring with Hyon. Hyon is no slouch in the ring and is undefeated at present with 4 wins and one draw. He has won 3 of his 4 fights by way of TKO and one decision. Hyon has a good ability with his fists and his preferred method of fighting is to get into a clinch then throw a variety of punches to try and wear his opponent down. He has a granite chin so this could be an interesting fight if he can take a couple of hits from Drunk but get in close enough to clinch he could win this one, he has some ability to go toe to toe with a fighter but my gut says that if he tries that with Drunk he will fare too well.

Next on the card is the pairing of Maximus and Slamenkov

Brutus "The Roman" Maximus Vladamir Slamenkov

Record 4-1-0 (W-L-D) Record 3-1-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/42/42b14.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/1/1w1.jpg

No title on the line here but two fighters with pretty good records duking it out, Maximus has 4 wins by way of either KO or TKO so he is an excellent boxer and in fact ended of his recent after only 5 seconds with a flurry of punches straight out from the corner which rocked his opponent! Salmenkov has a much different record with his 3 wins coming by way of submission. He likes to fight on the ground so we can expect him to get close to Maximus then try to bring the fight to the floor where he will have a distinct advantage. GIven his good chin he should be able to soak some of the damage that is coming his way from Maximus’s fists of fury before trying to perform a takedown to end the bout. Should be interesting fight but I fancy Slamenkov who has the better MT and BJJ to shade this fight,

Jack "Nasty Pasty" Nasty "The Guy" Markus Guy

Record 3-2-0 (W-L-D) Record 4-2-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/37/37b28.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/38/38b4.jpg

Nasty is coming to this bout off the back of 2 defeats in a row and his morale has taken a pasting he looks very unhappy at present. His 3 wins have been by a variety of methods including a decision, KO and Submission so he is a versatile fighter. He will need to be at his best to beat Guy on Saturday. Guy has 4 wins and 2 defeats and has an engine that would run all day and tends to enjoy fighting on the counter rather than being aggressive right off the bat. Both these lads are evenly matched in general other than Guy’s better boxing ability. Rumour has it that if Nasty doesn’t win this fight his girlfriend Daniella Whatsername has said she is leaving him because she doesn’t date losers! Even enough fight on paper but I wonder will Guy’s superior morale and energy give him the edge?

Best of luck to all the fighters and managers for this event and may the best men win on the night

I am finalising my bookie odds and they should be posted by the time you are reading this :)

Next big event in the JAG Battle League calendar is Gladitorius Maximus II taking place on Saturday night. There are 3 titles on the line in the 206lb, 185lb and 145lb divisions

Main event on the night is the 205lbs pairing of Budo and Win, it’s a worthy headline with Budo currently undefeated in 6 fights and is the defending champ at the minute.

Thay "Sleeping Pill" Budo Gunna Win

Record 6-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 5-0-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/15286846848534.png http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/19/19w1.jpg

Budo is an enormously popular and lethal boxer that is undefeated to date, can Gunna Win knock him off his perch? Budo is an absolute beast and has won all his fights by either KO or TKO and if he gets in to clinching distance he doesn’t let go, he is heavy handed and his punches really cause damage if they land, which they do more often than not as his hit ratio is very good. He is also very quick and has ended all but one of his fights in the first round and even the one that went to the second round ended after only 24 seconds of round 2. Even though he is known as a decent wrestler he doesn’t like to go to ground to date but don’t rule a bit of GNP out with this fighter! His opponent on Saturday is no slouch with 5 wins to his name and no defeats. Gunna has a similar method of ending fights as Budo with either KO (X3) and TKO (X2) being the methods of his winning his last 5 fights. He is also a quick fighter and lethal as none of his fights have gone beyond round 1 of any of his bouts. Gunna is slightly different in that he likes to stay a little removed from the action rather than clinching and this should make for an interesting fight with both fighters more than capable of knocking each other out but with Budo trying to clinch and Gunna trying to keep him away while trying to take him out with some punch/kicks from a distance. Hard to call but I think there may be a new champ on Saturday!

Next Title is the 185lbs showdown with Sireika and Dikoume, Sireika is the defending champ in this division

Arnoldas Sireika Marcel "The Python" Dikoume

Record 4-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 4-1-0 (W-L-D

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/6/6w18.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/41/41w24.jpg

Sireika has 4 wins to his name and has shown great skill in winning 3 of the 4 fights by way of TKO, he is an excellent striker and is very accurate with his fists he has the capacity to floor opponents and has done so in the past so expect nothing less this Saturday. He can mix it up a bit and is capable as a standup fighter and just as good when in a clinch so should be interesting to see if he risks getting too close to his opponent on Saturday who is not nicknamed the Python for no reason given he has won most of his fights by way of submissions! The Python has a solid chin and can take some damage and shows some immense skill around takedowns so if he can get close to Sireika I would expect him to take Sireika to the ground and try to end the fight there, The Python will probably need to take some punches before getting close to Sireika to take him down but with his capacity to soak up damage he might be able to get in tight and end the fight. Hard one to call but think another defending champ could be losing their silverware in this fight too!

The last title fight on the night is between Vencedor and Stallone in the 145lbs Division, this is the inaugural title fight for this division

Unai Vencedor Frank "Rocket" Stallone

Record 5-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 2-1-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/8/8b8.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/22/22w10.jpg

Vencedor has the better record of these 2 fighters and has 5 fights undefeated to his name he has won all his bouts by KO (x2) and TKO (x3) and even finished one of his fights within 5 seconds!! Vencedor is not afraid to use his fists to win. Stallone is a very different fighter who has 2 wins from 3 and has won both by way of Submissions so he will be keen to get this fight onto the canvas where he has the distinct advantage! Vencedor on paper has the much better stats when it comes to boxing, MT and wrestling but if Stallone can get in close and take Vencedor down then he could end this fight very quickly. Still fancy Vencedor to win this one and carry home the belt to his hometown of Bilbao in Spain.

Top of the rest of the fights but with no title in play is Dee V Mottus

Bobby "Sovereign" Dee Taavi Mottus

Record 6-1-0 (W-L-D) Record 3-0-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/15/15w12.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/6/6b13.jpg

Bobby has a fantastic record with his only defeat being in his last title shot when he was beaten by Thay Budo (the current champ). To give Dee credit he did last the longest time of any of Budo’s other opponents so he deserves some kudos for that at least. No disgrace to be beaten by Budo either. He is a good brawler but enjoys himself most when pummeling his opponents on the ground which has been his happy hunting ground other than his one defeat to date. Mottus has 3 wins and all coming by way of KO and TKO (x2) and he enjoys staying standing and pummeling his opponents so this fight is going to be a real battle to see who can stay standing or will the fight go to the floor where Dee is a little more comfortable. Mottus is a much better boer and MT specialist but Dee shades it in the Wrestling and BJJ department. On paper Dee should win but Mottus might surprise on the night.

Best of luck to all the fighters and managers on the night and I have odds on all the fights with my bookies so feel free to gamble to your hearts content :)

Next big event for JAG is JBL VI on Saturday night in London city, no titles on the line tonight but Drunk V Guy should serve up a real treat at the top of the card.

Punch Drunk "The Guy" Markus Guy

Record 5-1-0 (W-L-D) Record 5-2-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/20/20w14.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/38/38b4.jpg

Drunks only loss to date was in his last fight when he was competing for the title and lost to Seol Ki Hyon, other than that his record has been senastional with a large number of KO and TKO’s to his name when dispatching most of his opponents in the first round with one being floored in less than 14 seconds so he is a man that knows how to hit. He throws a lot of punches and if they connect he has serious KO power. His opponent on Saturday is not to be laughed at (and not just because he weighs 240 lbs and is 6 ft 7 tall)... Guy has 5 wins to his name and 4 of those were by way of TKO & KO with one submission thrown in for variety, so he is also a fighter that can hit if the fight calls for it. This should be interesting as Guy is the better on the mat than Drunk and Drunk is much better on his feet. This fight will be won by the man who can get the fight to where they are most comfortable - standing for Drunk and Ground for the Guy. Fancy Drunk to win this one.

Next to top of the bill is Skywalker and Scanlan

Finnick Skywalker Jordan Scanlan

Record 2-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 5-2-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/40/40w11.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/40/40w14.jpg

Scanlan is the more experienced fighter here but Skywalker is coming off the back of 2 wins on the trot so the confidence is high. In Skywalker’s last fight he threw an amazing 120 head punches in his clinches and won against a previously undefeated Erikson. Scanlan has won his last five fights by a variety of means including TKO, KO and one Decision. He is a strong as an ox and loves to throw a punch, in fact he threw nearly 150 in his last fight so he has some stamina. He has great accuracy as well with the fists and has the capability to knock fighters out. I really like the look of this fight and if these two gladiators go toe to toe and duke it out it should be very interesting as Skywalker slightly shades it on the boxing front but they are fairly even other than that.

Am putting this preview in 2 posts so will post the rest tomorrow (hopefully :) )

Part two of two for the event preview for JBL 6

Lyodo "Karate Kid" Machida Mabo Dada

Record 3-1-0 (W-L-D) Record 6-1-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/31/31w45.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/23/23b12.jpg

Looks like an interesting fight on paper with both of these lads having a couple of bouts under their belts at this state with Dada have 7 fights with an impressive 6 wins to his name to date. His only loss to date was in his previous title shot against Generic Guy. Dada tends to stay standing and throws a lot of punches (admittedly a lot of them hit fresh air…) but with his strength if he can connect his opponent is in trouble. Dada is the much better boxer but Machida is better in MT and way better in BJJ, as a result Machida prefers to stay in close or get the fight to the mat where he pretends his opponent is a nail and he is the hammer with a flurry of ground strikes coming raining down on the poor unfortunate that is under him. I fancy Dada to bounce back from his recent loss to take this one.

Khabib "The Eagle" Nurmagoduv Henry "Fast Hands" Shaw

Record 4-0-0 (W-L-D Record 3-1-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/32/32w27.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/30/30w7.jpg

Both these fighters carry impressive records to this bout with the Eagle coming off the back of 4 wins on the trot. The Eagle has 4 TKO and one NC to his name. He has a granite chin and is well able to take some punishment which is good as Fast Hands superb boxing talent is likely to test The Eagles capacity to take a hit. The Eagle likes rolling around with men on the floor so expect him to try to get Shaw to the floor where he is likely to try to hammer him into oblivion! Fast Hands so called because of his pickpocketing ability as a child on the streets of Manchester has 3 wins to his name with 2 TKO’s and one decision making up his record. He is a cautious fighter and tends to watch his opponent carefully then make his move on the break so expect him to let the Eagle try to get close for a takedown then use his fast hands to do some damage. On paper you would expect The Eagle to win but I’m gonna slightly tip Shaw to win this one.

Next big title fight is this Saturday when Sireika and Takashi go head to head for the 185lb title.

Arnoldas Sireika Saku Takashi

Record 5-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 5-1-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/6/6w18.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/41/41a1.jpg

This is not the first time these two lads have danced in the ring, Sireika (who is the current champ) has tussled with Takashi the past and has came out sucessful, winning his first title bout in this division against Takashi so Takashi is out for revenge this week and will be seeking to erase the horrible memory of his previous defeat to Sireika. Their previous match was over after less than 2 minutes of round one when Sireika made short work of Takashi and stayed standing with some great punches and was also extremely accurate when in the clinch as well with very few of his punches missing. Takashi tried numerous takedowns but none succeeded which was lucky for Sireika as Takashi is lethal on the ground. Sireika is still undefeated and has successfully defended his title since he won it and will be looking to continue that run of form on Saturday. Sireika has won all his fights by way of TKO Strikes other than one by way of decision and Takashi shows a similar vein of good form but has had to go the distance in 4 of his wins to get unanimous decisions with his only loss to date by way of TKO Strike against Sireika. Given how Sireika won their last fight I can see his great run of form extending and he should hold onto his title this week.

Other top fight on the night is Maximus and Hassan

Brutus "The Roman" Maximus Ashraf Hassan

Record 5-1-0 (W-L-D) Record 4-1-0 (W-L-D

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/42/42b14.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/24/24b5.jpg

No title on this one but 2 good fighters taking to the cage for this fight. Maximus has 5 wins to his name and he has won all by way of TKO or KO so this man knows how to put his opponents on their arses! He is strong as an ox and knows how to hit and his last bout ended after only 29 seconds with a perfectly placed jab that floored Slamenkov and he never has a hope after that. Hasaan is another newish addition to the JAB stable with only one fight for JAG to date but it was a doozie with Hassan winning by way of KO after only 1.34mins of round one when he landed a very acrobatic spinning back fist to absolutely crease his opponent. Both fighters have won similarly in the past so this should be interesting and the tale of the tape shows that Maximus is the much better boxer and slightly more popular but with Hassan being the much better MT expert I think Maximus might shade this one.but its gonna be close!

Taavi Mottus Gunna Win

Record 4-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 5-1-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/6/6b13.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/19/19w1.jpg

This one on paper looks very even with both fighters showing the same talents in most department other than Win who shades it on the boxing skills side. Mottus is an excellent fighter and is heavy handed which can be seen by way of his record which shows 4 wins on the trot and all four wins have been by TKO or KO, his opponent on Saturday is equally talented with his 5 wins coming also by way of TKO or KO with his only defeat coming about by the current reigning champ Thay Budo (who has steamrolled all before his to date so no shame there!). Win’s last successful outing ended after 1.21 mins of round one when he took Dark down in a flurry of merciless punches that left Dark wondering what year it was never mind did he win the fight! This is too hard to call between two great fighters that won’t be afraid to go toe to toe with each other.

Will aim to do couple more previews tomorrow so watch this space :)

Iron Fist Gentlemen Overlord

Record 2-0-0 (W-L-D) Record 5-0-0 (W-L-D)

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/19/19w3.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/36/36b4.jpg

Overlord comes into his debut fight for JAG with an impressive history behind him with 5 QFC wins under his belt so let’s see how he fares against his opponent tomorrow Iron Fist who is also fighting for the first time under the JAG umbrella with 2 wins in the QFC to his name. Iron Fist is the much better MT fighter and is slightly better at wrestling but Overlord is way better boxer and shows more talent in the BJJ category. Iron Fist’s two wins to date have come by way of TKO’s and his last fight he didn’t even have to break a sweat when winning after only 36 secs of the bout! Overlord has won all his fights by way of KO and TKO. He has shown serious ability with his fists and was lethal in the clinch in his last fight when he threw 12 punches with all of them hitting the target. Hard one to call as both these lads are pretty decent fighters but my gut would suggest that Overlord might shade it

Best of luck to all the fighters and managers on the night
